Gosh, supamaki, no wonder I was having trouble figuring out the answer! The year in question is 1988, not 1998!
Anyway, the answer is Heartbreak Hotel, starring David Keith, Tuesday Weld and Charlie Schlatter. The director happened to be Chris Columbus of Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, and currently Harry Potter fame.

I think I have them all, has anyone gotten them all? I'm not sure about question #8, but I think it's 8 episodes. If anyone knows for sure I'd appreciate some help.
