Little background-I have 4 kids, ages 11, 9, 6, 3.

I just returned from a weekend at Disney World with just my mom and my sister-in-law.

Three weeks ago I found incredibly cheap airfare and planned a trip for myself-no kids!-and asked my sisters and mom if any of them wanted to go. My mom offered to use some extra DVC points for the room, and my annual pass doesn't expire until December. The whole weekend, including food and airfare, cost me $300.

I had the BEST TIME EVER!!!! I haven't been alone anywhere is so long, I forgot how to be with myself.

My sister-in-law and I rode every thrill ride we wanted to. (My kids are all chickens, so my husband and I always have to swap if we want to ride them.) We went to all four parks, plus Downtown Disney on Saturday.

We saw Wishes on Friday AND Saturday night.

We rode Splash Mountain and got an incredible view of the castle and SpectroMagic Parade as we crested over the big falls.

I had a margarita by the pool (just yesterday, but it seems so long ago), and read a book. A book! Whole pages at a time! Not the same paragraph over and over!

I noticed things I have never noticed before since I'm usually on "Mom duty."

The weather was beautiful, and I had some nice bonding time with my mom and sister-in-law.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband.

We've decided to do this every other year, and let the husbands go away golfing on our "off" year.

I visited this site a lot when planning so I wanted to thank you all for the hints and ideas.

I'm so glad you had a great trip! I still remember my first solo trip. It was a gift from my family, "Mom's weekend". Boy, do I understand"Mom duty" and remember seeing WDW in a whole new light. When I came back, I told DH that I'd loved every minute of it, every step. And like in your family, DH takes his golf weeks without me (OT, but have your DH look at the RTJ Trail in Alabama). And I take my "mental health" trips to WDW. And since you have 4 young kids, boy do you need them! Planning your next trip yet?

it is so much better when you go solo, i saw things that i didn't know were even there and have been there for years. another 66 days i'll get to explore some more and see what else i can find.

Everyone I knew looked at me like I was crazy when I said I was going to WDW by myself. I went in conjunction with the 1/2 marathon in 2005 when a big group of us from the DIS participated. I had a blast, because I did sit and notice the little things, I watched people, I smiled at kids. I could sleep late, or go to the parks early. I had a ball. My family did fly down later in the week and join me when DD had her school break, but it was so much fun.

I am now planning on doing the 2008 1/2 marathon, and again spending time at WDW by myself!! There is so much to see and do, and everyone else is so busy that no one notices you're by yourself (that was one thing I dreaded feeling before I went).

I am going on my first solo trip in Dec for 3 days. i can't wait! :woohoo:

MidgeD79: I want to go one December solo too. I love to see the decorations, and want to do the Yuletide tour next time! have a great time.

Congratulations on a great trip and time away from the kids!

I did a 'mom' trip too. My DH let me go when my girls were ages 3 and 6 months. (yes, he's a saint) I had a fantastic time except for missing my kids. It was so hard to be away from them, especially the little one. I did manage to have a good time though! :thumbsup2

And just today I was thinking I would like to do another solo trip, but the problem is my girls are now HUGE WDW fans and I would feel so guilty leaving them home. Plus my DH doesn't take weekends away (he doesn't golf or anything) so we have no way to 'even' things out. Plus I need about $600 to make the trip.

I'm glad to read such a positive post. I'm contemplating a solo trip to DL in February and everyone's giving me a hard time about how much I'll miss my baby and husband.
