This may be blasphemy, but about Dole Whips...

Strawberry soft serve?!?!?!!!
I've always wanted to try this! Where do they sell it?

:goodvibes
The Enchanted Grove in Fantasyland has strawberry swirls.

The deal is: to each his own. As is most eveything in WDW. What one person loves, another person will hate. Some people love Dole Whips and rave about them, others think they aren't really all that.

DH is the Dole Whip fan in our household. He has to have a float at some point every trip. Last trip, we only had park passes for one day. We went to AK and when ready to leave I asked what he wanted to do next:
Have a Dole Whip. How could I have forgotten his favorite thing?? :confused3

Now, those Citrus Swirls sound good also. Maybe during our trip on Nov.

Never had a Dole Whip. Probably the only DISer who hasn't! :)

Nope, you're not the only one! I still haven't tried it yet....but hopefully I will remember to the next time I'm there.

I really like the dole floats. They are just really refreshing on a hot day and the only time I get one is at WDW.

When we tried it with the free dining is was ok to me. just to say i tried but i might not get it again.

Parental units like them-I usually hunt down a cart to get my Mickey Ice Cream sandwich!

Like many things at WDW, I think there is a lot of emotion & tradition surrounding the Dole Whips. I had not had one until a month or so ago after reading about them on the Dis... as many times as I had walked by the stand!

For me the thing that I LOVE at Magic Kingdom is a Casey's Hot Dog... I had one on my first visit to MK in 2003 (yes - I was a late bloomer!) and there are very few visits that I don't grab one on the way in or out! Casey's reminds me of DD and I sitting on the bleachers, watching cartoons & eating a hot dog on our first day there!

(I live in Orlando so the visits are frequent... I DO not eat hot dogs ANYWHERE else!)

YES! I now am hooked on Casey's. I love that place.

I don't know which I like better...a Casey's hotdog covered in their incredible saurkraut, or covered in their chili for the best chilidog you'll ever have............ oh man, now I want to go to Casey's!

I have never had one either but I am going to put it on the list to try in January. Course it might not be as refreshing if the weather is 29 degrees like it was the last time we visited in January  My favorite snack is the frozen bananas!

I wasn't wild about the Dole Whip either. I love the Itskudoozie. So refreshing on a hot day. I think it's like Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Some people just can't understand why we love them so much.

...but what's the big deal about them?

Don't get me wrong - I tried one for the first time a couple weeks ago based on the rave reviews I've seen here - and it was really good. But it wasn't that much different than a most soft-serve icecream that I've had. Just tasted like pineapple and vanilla flavored soft-serve.

This isn't to rain on anyone's parade...but...what's the big deal? :stir: ;)

I agree. They're good, but I don't get it either. I much prefer the Strawberry Swirl from the Enchanted Grove in between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland

They are YUMMO! We can't go a trip without having AT LEAST one! LOL

Mmmm I love those Dole Whips...

But does anyone notice that they're different than they were 15 years (or so??) ago???
I remember having them as a child, and they're just DIFFERENT in some way than they used to be????
Anyone else notice that?

Maybe I'm going crazy! LOL!

I don't think you're crazy. I remember the pineapple being more... there? Not the flavor as much as the texture maybe? Tiny juicy chunks of pineapple, now it's all a creamy blend. I still love them, I was just a little surprised! What I want to know is where else CAN you get these? I know I had them as a kid, and not at DL either. And I've never been to Hawaii, so that's not it. I saw somebody with one at MK last year, and my husband and kids thought I was nuts to track the stand down. I knew I loved those things, and hadn't had one in decades, LOL!

I think it's because it's pineapple soft serve................and I never met a soft serve I didn't like

I had to try the dole whips too, I agree with the op it just wans't my cup of tea. My new favorite refreshing drink on a hot day is the frozen lemonade, spent a ton $$ on those last July. Our next visit is in November can't wait to have one again. :sunny:.

Ok, here it goes, I hope this is not held against me, I hate dole whips! My hubby and I both tried one last Oct and we trashed them both. What a waste of money. But I did discover school bread....Yummy, Yummy! I guess thats what makes the world go round. Heres happy eating to everyone...dole whips or not! :)

I too didn't understand the pull of the Dole Whip and then I tried one for the first time this past May, it was pure heaven in the heat. Not heavy like a regular ice cream would have been. And to be able to get a spear of pineapple with it... Where is the drooling smilie when I need it??

I tried one in -04 too as I had read SO much about them on these boards, now though it was refreshing and I love pineapple, I haven't really had a craving for them since that time.

But I will give it another go on this trip, maybe I will get hooked too :rotfl:

Death to the infidels!!!

Okay - not really. Our whole family likes the Dole Whips but we are hotly divided on the topic of sprinkles.

We have the afore mentioned cult-like obsession for the mint juleps at Disneyland. They many not actually be all that impressive but mint julep + Pirates of the Caribbean. Well, there is just something about it that exceeds the sum of its parts.
