This may be a stupid question...

We went to Sea World some years ago and REALLY enjoyed the shows, especially Shamu. I am thinking of taking a return trip but I am wondering if the Shamu show is worth it anymore. I know with the death of one of their cast members they stopped letting them get in the water with the whales. Is that still the case? I don't know where else to ask. The tricks they did with the whales were fantastic and a big part of the show. Of course, I don't want to see anyone hurt but I am just wondering if the show is as good now.

They do not get into the water with the orcas, at least as of a couple of weeks ago. It's a pretty decent show, but I do think Blue Horizons is better.

No ever since the death they are not allowed to be in the water with the whales. We like the show. My kids just love the animals so they could careless if the trainers are in there or not. I feel the same way I am just there to see the whales.

They are working on plans to modify the tanks that they perform in to prevent what happened happening again but it was only talked about after the trainers death. No word on when it will take place.

Trainers are currently not allowed in the water with the Orcas. However, the current show, One Ocean is a very entertaining show. The trainers do still get into the water at the Blue Horizons dolphin show.

Even when the trainers got in the water the Shamu show wasn't a favorite,I agree with a PP about the Blue Horizons dolphins show being a much better show.Other shows I love are the Pets Ahoy show and the Sea Lion show, especially the night Sea Lion show which is only held on days the park is open late. The park overall is a great combination, relaxing but with great thrilling attractions in a beautiful atmosphere. The new Antarctica attraction looks to add to this park which is one of my favorites.

Over the Christmas season, I was lucky enough to see three different orca shows- Christmas Miracles, One Ocean, and Shamu Rocks! Because of the music, I really liked Shamu Rocks! the best. The orcas basically do all the same things in each show. The trainers interact with them at the main stage and at the small audience stage, they feed and direct them and do actual touching of the orcas. Just no swimming or other in tank activities.

It's still a great show where the first few audience rows can get drenched during the tail splashing parts. As for Blue Horizons, that is an amazing show with acrobats and tricks and high-divers. It is a real staged spectacular.

Was this repetitive for you? I am thinking of going during the holidays and was thinking of doing exactly this!

I saw them on 3 different days, so, no, not repetitive to me. Besides, it's the music and theme of the shows that vary. As I said, I liked Shamu Rocks! best because of the music and big screen videos. The orcas do their trained routines about the same in each show.

We were at SW this past weekend. My first time at SW in 20 years. The Shamu show was nice, but I really liked the dolphin show much better. The arena for the dolphin show is smaller and you can see a lot better and feel closer to the animals (not just dolphins). If you have the time, I would see both plus Clyde and Seamore - that show is hilarious (especially the pre-show mime!!)

We went in 2008 when trainers were still in water with Orcas. Then back in 2010. It was a very noticeably different show.

While we enjoyed it, it wasn't as much as before. And like others have said Blue Horizons is much better (and even was our favorite in 2008).

The music and pacing of the newer "One Ocean" show is much better than "Believe". "Believe" had the cheesy "I want to be a marine biologist schtick" and attempted to draw out your emotions with an under-produced orchestra score, but had the upside of trainer/animal water interaction.

"One Ocean" replaced the water interaction with better production aspects...And they succeeded. The music is mostly upbeat, minus the slow "Side By Side" song, which is also well-done, despite no in-water interaction and the pacing keeps your attention through the show.

However, I agree with others that it's hard to top the "Blue Horizons" dolphin show...even with it's cheesy fairytale storyline. More dolphins, less cheese, please. ;)
