"This Isn't Disneyworld. . .It's Rainworld!!" our trip to WDW May 16-23, 2009

Sorry Becky about the crummy week you had . Wow so sorry to hear about your Uncle's depression. That is rough. I had a friend who was apparently bipolar and not on meds, he took his a year ago today :sad2:. I won't get into on here but his life seemed amazing from the outside.
I got teary eyed reading about Ally and the park play date :sad1: . Us moms get heartbroken when our kids get hurt feelings don't we? I hope everything goes great on Tuesday when she starts Kindergarten :goodvibes,. I'm sure Ally is going to make tons of new friends and her teacher is going to just adore her. If you need to vent you can email me or message me on FB anytime. Looks like you had a nice 30th Birthday. Thanks for sharing the Wiggles pics with us, looks like the girls had a blast. We saw there show in Knoxville a while back, luckily Thomas didn't know that wasn't Greg .

I'm a lurker who has been reading your PTR and TR (and really enjoying them!). I wanted to say I'm sorry you had such a difficult week. Those are all very difficult things to deal with.

I'm sure Ally will have a fantastic time at school - how fun she is starting. My daughter is staring her second year of Kindergarten so she must be about the same age as Ally (here we do 2 years - junior k at age 4, senior K at age 5 - my dd just makes our cutoff she she turns 5 at the end of December).

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your TR.

Rhonda (PTR http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2243659)

Becky, viewed your Wiggles pics on FB--so cute looks like a fun day...so sorry to hear about your uncle will keep him in our prayers...and unfortuantely Gwendolyn & I have been where you and Ally were; it is a pretty lonely feeling, hang in there I'm sure no one realized what was going on and did not do it intentionly.
Hope Ally enjoys her first day of school on the 11th.

Oh friend - I wish I had something wonderful to say to you but I don't. Keep doing what you're doing - cling to God, never ever let go. He knows what you need better than even you and he's been with you every single moment of every single day (good and bad).

Awww, Becky, sending hugs your way!! You need them after this week!! I'm so sorry it was such a tough week for you and your family. But you're right, God will only give you as much as you can handle and it sounds like it's turning around for you!!

It's so tough to watch your children go through those difficult learning times. My oldest is going into 1st grade this Fall (all day long!!), so I'm not much further ahead of you and when he went into Kindergarten, we went through MANY transitions. It was hard for me, it was hard for him, but we made it, stronger and you & Ally will, too. :goodvibes It's so hard to watch them grow up, isn't it?!!!

I can't believe this week she starts school! I'm glad to hear she is excited and hope you make it through okay Tuesday, I'll be thinking of you!! I remember that moment so well from last year....my baby, getting on the bus for the 1st time, without me, and gone for 1/2 a day! I did well saying goodbye but cried all the way up the driveway to the phone to call my DH to sob to him. Everyone says that it happens to fast and they are so right!! I'll be thinking of you!!!!

So sorry to hear about the rough time you've been having lately :sad2: I was right there with you when Ally was having problems with the kids on the playground. My DD12 has Aspergers, just like a PP, and it's really hard for her to make/keep friends. Just today, she was calling around trying to find a friend to spend the night, but had no luck (she doesn't understand that most people can't do that when you call them at 6pm!).

I hope Ally enjoys kindergarten this week, even though things didn't work out the way she'd hoped. My DD8 (Allison) got separated from all of her really good friends last year, and was really worried about school. She ended up having a fantastic year, though, and made some new friends that she adores. Just tell Ally to trust that God put her where He did for a reason ;) He always has a plan. I agree with a PP--you need to do something right after taking her to school. A bunch of moms get together here and go to Cracker Barrel for b'fast, either to cry b/c their little ones have gone to school, or to celebrate b/c their kids are back in school

We saw the Wiggles in concert a few years ago...what a great concert! Probably the best kid's production we've been to. Looking forward to your next update. Hope this is a better week for you :flower3:

So sorry to hear about your rough week. But, it looks like you had a wonderful birthday. I love the VB duffel bag! (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the weekender bag for Christmas) I bought Madison that same book about kindergarden. I can't believe that Ally starts school so soon. Around here, school doesn't start until after Labor Day. But, we don't get out for summer until the end of June. I hope you have a much better week coming up.

I was wondering what was going on with you this week. After some comments you had left on FB I was hoping/praying for the best for you.

Looks like you had a great birthday, love the new bag :thumbsup2

Sorry about the week, hugs to you, glad you have a close circle of friends.

Trust me I know how kids can be, I cry often for my Jack, we went to a McDonalds play area, and he doesn't know how to play with kids really due to his ASD, but there was only one other kid there, so they kinda played together, but Jacks speech is less than great and when he gets excited he has a few mannerisms that could be viewed as strange I suppose, so this kid says "whats wrong with you," and "I can't understand you." So we left. Hugs to your Ally and good thoughts for a good first day of school.

Once I get Jack settled in school in a month or two lets plan a play date with our little ones.

Finally caught up!

Your girls are adorable as always.

Great for Mulan to stop for you guys.

Congrats on the new car!

Happy Birthday!

Now I know what you were upset about. I didn't want to ask...I figured you needed some time. Some kids and parents can be so thoughtless and mean. I hate that you had to deal with all that.

I would ask if the school could switch her to your friends class. I don't see why they wouldn't. That way she has her good friend with her 'til she gets to know the other kids better. She'll make plenty of friends in no time at all. :cutie:

Looks like you had some good family time w/ your folks. You look just like your daddy by the way! (I do too...I'm a spitting image of mine.) The Wiggles show looks cute too and the girls adored it I see.

Thanks for the AG heads up. Do you know when they'll offer another round of dolls on QVC? They have GREAT deals on there but it's only once or twice a year. LMK if you hear anything. Okay?

Belated Happy Birthday to you! Sounds like you had a fabulous day and how cute are your parents!!

So sorry about your uncle - I hope he is on the road to recovery!

If kids only knew how much our hearts break for them when they're upset. It's so hard not to go intervene, isn't it? I don't know what I'd say, "You be her friend right now or else!!" Probably wouldn't work, huh? :lmao:

Sounds like y'all had a great time at the concert. (Is it me, or are they looking old?)

My youngest starts kindergarten in 2 weeks. We have a staggered start too. I really do think it's a great transition. She's excited and I'm excited for her, but it's definitely bittersweet. My baby is all grown up.

Thanks Shannon!! I know! I wish I could give some kids a piece of my mind every once in awhile--of course I would never do that! We did have a great time at the concert. Yes, my girls are growing up way too fast! :sad1:

So sorry about your crummy week but your birthday sounded fab and it sounds like your Wiggles concert and outings with your friends picked you up.

Hope that your uncle gets better.:goodvibes

Thank you Lessa! I appreciate it!

Your birthday looks like fun! Love that VB duffel, and let me just tell you, that DVD player will be your best friend on car trips! :thumbsup2

I am so sorry about your uncle! Hope the doctor is able to find a medication that works for him very soon!

That stinks about not getting the kindergarten teacher you wanted and the playdate. :( I hope the teacher Ally got turns out to be fabulous, and I hope she makes lots of new friends in school.

Now, as far as the first day of school -- do YOU have plans to get together with friends after you send Ally off? If not, make them -- it will make you feel so much better afterwards! :goodvibes

Thank you so much Jackie!! I do not have plans after I drop her off. Since they have staggered enrollment many of the mommies I know are taking their kids on different days. I don't know of anyone taking their kids on Tuesday. But Brent will be going with me to drop her off.

Hi Becky! First...happy belated Birthday! Sorry I missed it but you look like you had a great celebration with the family. Love the new VERA! :thumbsup2

So sorry to hear about your uncle. I'll be praying that he is able to get the help he needs in the hospital. What a difficult time for the family. Depression and mental illness are hard things to deal with because of the negative misconceptions people have about them....I'm sure you and your family are rallying around him right now and I'll be praying for strength for all of you as well.

UGH...what a shame about that playdate! It sounded like a great idea. I'm sure that Ally will make lots of friends in kindergarten next week.

I'm glad you are hearing good things about the teacher Ally got. Jonah got the one teacher last year that I did NOT want him to get. Isaiah had her in Kdg. and it was not a good experience. She had since moved up to second grade and I was really concerned. But I said lots of prayers and just let things take their course before I said anything about changing his classroom. It turns out that the experience with her as a second grade teacher was completely different than when Isaiah had her in kindergarten. Jonah loved her and it was a great year!

Enjoy the weekend and you'll be in my prayers on Tuesday morning! :)

Thank you Missy!! Yes, depression is difficult. A lot of people don't understand it. My brother actually dealt with it his first year of law school (due to all of the stress). It really takes a toll on the family until the doctors can find the dosage of medication that is needed. I remember visiting my brother at the hospital during Ally's 1st Christmas--it was horrible! Thankfully it isn't something he's dealing with anymore.

I appreciate your prayers for me on Tuesday. Ally couldn't be more excited!!

Hi Becky,

Happy belated :bday:

sounded like you had a wonderful 30th....I loved turning 30 myself too....felt so grown up ;) It's kinda fun we both are August babies...my 35th is the end of the month of the 30th...I'm really looking forward to it. My Dad's b-day is the 28th and for the past 3 yrs including this one we have gone to a Chicago Cubs game. So I can't wait :woohoo:

I'm sorry about the rough week you've had...I ought to be getting ready to leave for the massive back to school big errand run today...but I knew I needed to send out some  to you.

Sorry to hear about your Uncle I hope things are getting better and a little calmer for you and your family.

Also I know that agnst of pain for your children, when they feel completely left out...w/ Michael having Aspergers friends are few and far for him...it is heartbreaking. But I know Ally's wonderful smile and perky personality will shine through wehn she starts K next week...she will be just fine...besides her Father will be her. Hang in there friend,

Love all the Wiggles pictures...I miss the old Greg. My favorite Wiggle is Anthony :yay:

Glad you had some great fun there to brighten your week and I'll be here when you get back to the TR...

Julie

Thank you Julie!! Your birthday is the day before Brent's (he turns 36 on the 31st). How fun to be able to share it with your dad at a Cub's game! Yes, I don't think Ally will have trouble making friends at school. She is really looking forward to it!! Anthony is my favorite Wiggle, too!!

Sounds like you had a nice 30th!

Hope things with Ally's class get better. I'm sure as she spends more time with the kids in her class she will find a friend.

The Wiggles concert looked like fun. The girls looks like they were having a blast!

I did, thank you!! The kids at the park are actually not in her class. They are in other K classes--I'm kind of relieved about that, you know?! The girls DID have a blast at the Wiggles!!

Sorry Becky about the crummy week you had . Wow so sorry to hear about your Uncle's depression. That is rough. I had a friend who was apparently bipolar and not on meds, he took his a year ago today :sad2:. I won't get into on here but his life seemed amazing from the outside.

Thank you Nichole! Yes, you never know who could be dealing with depression. It's quite scary! Yes, I cannot stand it when Ally is upset--I take it VERY personally as I think all moms do! I appreciate you being here for me! I wish all of my DIS friends lived closer! Hee hee!! The last time we went to The Wiggles was when Ally was 2 1/2. It was one of the 1st concerts without Greg. They showed this video before the show of Greg handing his yellow shirt over to Sam. Ally just boo hooed! She wanted to see GREG!! Boy was she disappointed! But by the end of the concert she was LOVING Sam! It was sooo funny! Then she cried when it was over b/c she didn't want it to end!

I'm a lurker who has been reading your PTR and TR (and really enjoying them!). I wanted to say I'm sorry you had such a difficult week. Those are all very difficult things to deal with.

Rhonda (PTR http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2243659)

Hi and welcome Rhonda!! Glad you're enjoying my TR! Thanks for joining in! Yes, Ally and your daughter ARE close in age! Ally turns 5 on Sept. 19th--the cutoff here is the end of September for K.

Thank you Connie! I appreciate you being here for me!

You're exactly right!! God knows the big picture before we do and his plan is PERFECT even when we can't see it!!

Awww, Becky, sending hugs your way!! You need them after this week!! I'm so sorry it was such a tough week for you and your family. But you're right, God will only give you as much as you can handle and it sounds like it's turning around for you!!

Thank you Kristen!! You're right! Even in the tough times, God shows that He is still in control! It IS hard to watch them grow up! Time just goes by way too fast--in the blink of an eye they are no longer babies!

So sorry to hear about the rough time you've been having lately :sad2: I was right there with you when Ally was having problems with the kids on the playground. Thank you! I think Ally is ok now with not getting the teacher she wanted. She made a comment tonight that she was excited about her new teacher. She now prays that her teacher will be a good teacher and that they'll have a great year! God DOES have a plan and she is in that classroom for a reason.

Thank you Meghan! Isn't that book cute? I used to read it to my kindergarteners when I taught K. I was going to get it out of the attic but now I don't have to! My aunt who sent it is a 2nd grade teacher--she thinks of everything!! Yes, school here starts in early August but their last day is May 20th.

I was wondering what was going on with you this week. After some comments you had left on FB I was hoping/praying for the best for you.

Thank you Jessica! Yes, kids can be very blunt, hurtful, and mean. It's really sad. We should get together once the kiddos start school!!

Finally caught up!

Your girls are adorable as always.

Great for Mulan to stop for you guys.

Congrats on the new car!

Happy Birthday!

Thank you so much!!

I'm praying for your family.

I appreciate your prayers!

Thank you Tammy! No, at Ally's school you cannot request teachers or I would have already done that! My friend who is a K teacher there couldn't even place Ally in her class--crazy, huh?! It really stinks. Yes, I do look like my Daddy--I look nothing like my Mom! I have a cousin on my Dad's side who looks exactly like me. No problem! Ally is sooo excited about the AG Happy Meals! QVC should be having more AG sets closer to Christmas--I would think Oct. or Nov. I'll let you know if I hear anything!!

Sorry to hear about your rough week. I remember when my oldest started Kindergarten at first it was lonely but then you'll have a lot of alone time with Claire. :cutie: That bag you git for your bday is too cute! Can you ask your parents where they got it?

Thank you Barbara! Yes, it will be nice to have one-on-one time with Claire. Claire will be going to Mother's Day Out 2 days a week as well. Thank you! My parents ordered the bag online from Vera Bradley!

First of all :grouphug: for a hard week. Sending a child to school is hard, let me know how to do it, Hannah starts the next week. I am excited, yet sad that she is so big. Plus Luke turns one the same week... too fast!

Second tell me more about QVC and AG- my mom wants to get the girls one for Christmas...

Thank you Laura!! I appreciate it! Looks like we're going through the same thing sending our girls off to Kindergarten! You're right--it is sad but exciting at the same time!!

QVC--twice a year they sell AG dolls in a set with a few outfits/accessories--it ends up being a better deal to buy the set than to buy everything separately from AG. They did this about a month ago and will probably do it again in Oct. or Nov. However, you don't really know what the sets will be until the week before. This last time they did a Chrissa set, Felicity set, Josephina set, and a Bitty Twins set. Last year before Christmas they did a Kit/Ruthie set and some others that I can't remember.

BTW--Starting on August 14th and running through Sept. 10th, McDonald's will be having American Girl Happy Meals!! Check out this link to see the different sets you can get!!

I am dreading the first day of kindergarten for my son, even though it is still a few years away. I know it will come too quickly. I'm so glad that you have plans after you drop her off. You will be glad for the distraction. I hope your weekend is going well! :goodvibes

It will be here before you know it!! It's crazy how fast the years fly by!! We are having a good weekend!! We went and saw G-Force 3D and then went to a cookout at a friend's house with a bunch of people from our Sunday School Class.

That's too bad. She'll do well no matter what though. :cutie:

Oh that's cool to have a "twin" cousin. If you saw my baby/childhood pictures you'd totally see the boys in me. Gabby doesn't look like me at all. She looks like her dad. I think I may have posted those old pics on my FB. Check 'em out. There's one of me and this lil pig taken in TN and my youngest says, "No mama. That's ME!"

Oh no, I missed the QVC thing!? What did they offer with Chrissa? I want her but I wanted to buy her off of QVC. I wish they'd do a set with all three dolls. Maybe next time.
