This Is Wrong By Disney!!!!

You do have to book it as two reservations. You can't have one reservation with two rates. Do it as two and have them linked. You'll have to stop at the desk to check out/in for the second part of the reservation. I did it that way last fall and it wasn't any trouble.
Thanks Quinn....didn't know that. So if I book online I have to pay two deposits ? Do u know if they would require two deposits for reservations made over the phone (that have 2 different rates ?)
Thanks

Dont shout at Disney. The website is operated by a travel company that is not Disney. They offer less service every single time. Call Disney direct, never ever try to book online. We stayed over a split in seasons and the CM, at 407wdishey, told me this and split the reservation accordingly.

You will have the 6 day cancellation policy if you book room only.

Just today I wanted to book a 5 nt stay thru CRO on the phone....CM couldn't do my first choice resort for the 5 days. I looked online and it IS available if I book my 5 days within the 7 day period. I am going to book the 7 days and then call CRO to modify it down to the 5 I do want. I do think it's a game they play - but I can play it too - and I do hate the website. :headache:

Good luck.

oh, this has been going on for many...many years. In the past I even had a CRO mention this to me. BUT with all there changes lately, I wonder if they will be setting up the computers to NOT let people do this! ?? I think that is what is to come!

What I'm afraid is to come is to continue have the length of stay ( and check in/check out date) restrictions that we see online and a charge to modify. I've been told by others to just request an early check out or for CRO to remove days I really didn't want. I wonder now if we try to do that if it either won't be possible or there will be a charge for early check out, such as the $50.00 some other places charge. I'm anxious to see the new rules for 2008 and whether those changes are included as part of the new rate structure.---Kathy

I actually like the website. Call me crazy. It gives me basic ideas of how much $$ I am likely to be relieved of. Besides, it allows me to (don't tell anyone) book my trip from work without being on the phone for ever. Then once everything is set, I call and make any adjustments.
But, honestly, WDW should let you book ANY number of days and nights you want, any way you want, and if they aren't then maybe they shouldn't be referring to it as "magic your way"? but Magic your way if you stay long enough.:rotfl:

Disney has been doing this to hubby and I for sometime...when we call, they see how many times we have visited and then magically...only premium rooms are available and no resident or passholder rates at all.

We end up staying at Gaylord Palms or the Swan or Dolphin more often than not if we want to head up to Orlando.

We are so tired of playing the disney room rate game. Real resorts do not do this. Good thing is..Swan/Dolphin and Gaylord are all so much nicer than the Disney resorts..so better price, wonderful staff and better ammenities works out better for us.

I actually feel that shouting is well warranted. Outsourced or not, if much smaller chains can offer the ease of booking and checking availability online, so should Disney.

If this was a new problem, I would cut them some slack, but their website has sucked for at least 5 years.

I did have to pay a deposit for each reservation and since it was two rooms at WL it wasn't fun since I ended up paying what was essentially a four night deposit. Of course that meant I had a whole lot less to pay off!

I completely agree. I work in IT and if our website worked, or in Disney's case did not work most of the time, we would all be looking for new jobs. For a large company, it is ridiculous that their site is always screwed up. :confused3 I really wish they would get it together online.

MiaSRN62 - Quinn222 mentioned this but make sure when you check in you verify they have the 2 reservations linked. They can also tell you then if you are booked to stay in the same room. I have had split reservations probably 8 or 9 times and have not had to move for any of them. I always do the checkin/checkout before we leave for the parks.

LoL :rotfl: "Magic OUR way??" Haha!!

Thanks for all the replies!!! Unbelievable, but today, I was able to book a standard room at the GF for the dates I needed and for the lesser rate. Maybe, they only release so many rooms ever so often. I don't know but it sure is strange!!!! Why don't they just book as other hotels - first come, first served????

I just contact Pam Schuck at pamscruisingco.com. I am in Canada and she takes care of everything for me except booking the flight out of Canada. She gets us the best room in the Disney Hotel of our choice and arranges for the Park Hopper Passes. In 2006, when we were there for 10 days she booked all our dinners and breakfasts while on the DDP around which parks were open late or early that we would be visiting. She takes care of everything, I type up an itinerary for each day with each of my two children's top 10 ride picks, and as she suggests restaurants, I print out the menu and check with the kids if is aggreable to them. She then books it and gives me the time and reservation number which I then type into the itinerary. We still had two free days to do as the kids wished. It was awesome. I wouldn't know how to do it without her.
Have a great vacation,
D:) :)

Thanks Quinn and Stewy for your help. I will definitely make sure my reservations are linked. :thumbsup2
