This is why I don't like flying.....

I probably would have been arrested because there is no way I could have stayed on a plane while it sat on the tarmac for that long. I barely make it the 3 hours to Florida without getting totally claustrophobic.

That is just crazy. DH would have been arrested because he hates to wait.

I could have drive halfway to WDW in that amount of time. I hate flying and avoid it at all costs. Extreme case or not, this is another reason I won't fly.

Yikes. If I had to sit on a plane that long with no food and very little to drink, I'd be upset too.

I think I would have faked an asthma attack or something to get off that stinkin' plane. That is, if I didn't have an anxiety attack first, & vomit all over a flight attendant. :)

I can remember two or three years ago, reading about a plane that sat on the tarmac with a full load of passengers for several hours because there was a blizzard and no available gate or something weird. After several hours, there were no drinks, food, and the toilets were overflowing. I would never have survived if I'd been in that plane -- would have pulled the emergency hatch and gone down the slide.

Hey I probably would have caused as scene if it would have gotten me arrested. Arrested=getting off the plane. Seven hours is absolutely ridiculous. There's no way I could have sat on a plane that wasn't moving for that long. I can barely handle that long while it's actually going somewhere.

OMG! I would have been arrested! That is outragous!

Wow, I'd be really ticked too! I think even having to wait 1/2 hour on the plane for a spare part would have done me in.

My DH would have had serious health issues. He's diabetic and can't go that long without eating something. Besides, he's claustraphobic, a smoker and afraid of heights!! :scared: Somebody once told me I should dart him before any flight like an animal. :rotfl: He'd probably be easier to deal with! :rotfl:
Can you say "Road Trip"! We drive everywhere. :car: :teeth:

This incident is asinine. I've waited on the tarmac over an hour, but this is totally unacceptable. I hope Virgin is offering major compensation!

A bit OT: I used to be terrified of flying--a white knuckle flyer who required a cocktail of dramamine with a beer chaser--and that's before I ever got on the plane. Gradual conditioning has helped, but what really did the trick was one horrendous landing a couple years back at OHare. Chicago had been in the midst of tornado warnings/high winds--we circled a good hour in very bumpy conditions, but then the pilot decided to go for it. The fact that he was able to land that baby in what was undoubtedly the worst landing conditions I or my DH (a very frequent flyer) had ever experienced showed me that yes, pilots do know their stuff. Yes, they're well-trained for anything. And now I'm a much more confident flyer. (Or maybe I'm just more of a fatalist--whatever will be, will be!) :sunny:

Heh, we had a connecting in DFW 2 years ago where there was a snowstorm which they were completely unprepared for. We waited in a taxi line where every single airplane at the airport was to get to the ONE de-icing station they had there. We sat in the plane for over 4 hours with no food or drink. The kicker was that by the time we got to the de-icing station, it was early afternoon and the snow had stopped -- the sun had come out and melted the little bit away and the plane didn't even need to be de-iced -- they cleared us right away for take-off!
