This is us..

I'm on the fence about the show. I'll give it a couple of more episodes...too much crying. It's a bit depressing. IMO

Definitely flashing forward, IMO.

I'm not so sure William didn't die last night. Kevin did say, not to get too attached.

I cried at the end, too. It kind of came out of nowhere for me. I love William and Randall and Beth. I kind of think that William "deserves" more, but it was awfully powerful.

Toby annoyed me this episode. He's annoyingly high maintenance sometimes. I know that he means well, but he kind of needs everything his way when it comes right down to it.

Kevin has plenty of room to grow, but he's growing on me. I think that the way they're peeling away the cocky face and showing that he has a lack of self-confidence like Kate is interesting. He just covers it differently than she does.

I was pretty sure that Jack had died based on the first couple of episodes, and since Rebecca is remarried, I'm glad that it was death, not divorce.

I definitely need some processing time on this episode and maybe a re-watch.

One thing I thought of last night...we haven't seen Randall and Kate interacting yet. We know they do because he referred to her as Aunt Kate..but maybe they aren't close.

I didn't like Toby this week for pushing Kate to watch the game with him. I get why she did it, but I wish she would have been stronger and said no to that invitation.
In the pilot, Kate says something to Kevin about her talking to Randall, and it appears that Randall and Kate talk a lot, and Kate and Kevin talk a lot, but Randall and Kevin don't (which is later confirmed by their awkwardness on the phone)

Soooo, I was watching the show (I have to DVR and watch later - in order to enjoy without kids interrupting) and guess who was watching as well?

Any one else's spouse/partner also interested in the show now - even if they won't admit it :rolleyes1

It's just a great, great show; IMO :)

My DH watches as well (no hiding it at all!) - though we don't always watch it together. Like you, we DVR it, but I tend to watch it the next morning so I can read here without spoilers, and he tends to catch up later in the week.

Yea it was the woman by the pool.

I loved this episode. It touched on some good topics.

Where was the picture? I don't remember them showing one? Thanks SO much!

I swear, I went into the episode thinking, "give Toby a chance, don't have any bias" and then he does the pass the invitation thing and I thought, "dang it, Toby!" She said it was her thing, that it's something she preferred to do alone and he just pushed and pushed until she caved. Then the total lack of respect for the meeting and once again giving her crap about the food she eats. Even if he thinks the meetings and kale are ridiculous why mock them? Instead try to help her find a better alternative if you're not going to support what she's trying to do. I understand his heart is in the right place but to me it just feels like he doesn't want to do these things (which of course he doesn't have to) and so pushes her to not do them either.

See, I like that about Toby. He is so opposite her, and tries to push her to get out of her comfort zone. It might backfire, but I think sameness in a couple is kinda boring...

No hiding on my end, either. My husband LOVES it. There aren't ANY shows we both love, so to have this, finally, is kind of nice!

Last night, I watched last week's episode as well as last night's episode so it was getting a little late by the time
I finished last night's episode (I recorded it when it was on at 9 pm). Anyway, I THOUGHT when they showed
Randall crying on the bed about William dying, it was a preview for next week. I guess I was half asleep
since somehow that made me think it (or it could have been since they didn't dedicate too much time to it), which
would be odd since they make it a point to highlight certain things.

Also, where is this picture? The last thing I remember about last week's episode is when they were all on the cement at the
pool and Mandy is trying to read the last page of her book. Do they show Randall at home with that picture later?
Maybe I was falling asleep and need to rewatch both episodes.

They show the picture at Randall's house, after he and William have their heart to heart and then the doorbell rings and it's Kevin, it's shown as Randall's walking to answer the door, I think.

I also thought Toby came on a bit strong last night. That woman was talking during the meeting and he was interrupting everyone making them pass a note down to Kate. I thought it was kind of rude and disrupting to the lady talking. I get it, he was trying to be silly and the little invitation was cute, but hand it to her later. Then, he knew the game was important to her and he goes and mutes/pauses it while telling a story with his friend. I didn't mind him chiding her about the breakfast since it seemed like it was in jest, but the other stuff annoyed me.

I think we will see William again. I read somewhere, maybe on this forum, that he will tell a secret to Beth. I'm guessing he will tell her about his contact with Rebecca after the birth, maybe on his death bed.

I really hope that that's not how they end William's character. Sad about Jack being dead. As far as Toby, he doesn't bother me.

DH and I watch this together. :)

I really don't think that was the end of William for us. I think it was a flash forward that worked with Kevin's monologue and that William will still be around for some more episodes. I really hope so anyway!

I was thinking about the time line for Jack's death. I need to go back and re-watch the part when Kate was telling Toby about watching the Steelers. I remember she said that when she first moved out, she didn't watch for a while. Then she started watching with her dad. Do you think that she started again after his funeral when she brought his remains home with her? So, maybe she was an adult when he died? I know that there is no way to know for sure, but it's something to think about.

He died in 2006.

I don't know if I have the strength to go through Jacks death. If we have to watch him get a cancer diagnosis (for example) and then watch him get sick and then her final goodbye to him? Nope, too much. As it was, I felt so sad when Kate got his urn, and then when they showed Randall holding Williams hat and tearing up.

And why does Kate have her father's remains and not Mandy?

I very much dislike Toby and felt it was another manipulation of him trying to make Kate watch the game with him when she clearly said she wanted to be alone. And then even if she agreed, which she did, why on earth would he invite someone else when she wanted to be alone!!!

I am on the Team anti Toby. I workout six days a week and in shape (and Im 49). My dh is very Pooh sized and does not work out. He supports me in what I want to eat, lets me go to gym as soon as I get home from work and cooks dinner and would never complain about what Im doing to feel better about myself. I just feel when I watch Toby he is opposite my dh. My dh would also never push and push to make me do something I clearly didnt want to do...such as Kate wanting to watch football alone. Our kids are older, 18 and 22, and he was like this even when kids younger or before we had kids.

Thanks for letting me know about the picture, Ill relook for it.

I dont like that Jack is dead, I want them to a "Dallas" and have last episode a dream

I'm feeling that Toby is going to become an unlikeable character. I've been getting annoyed by him.
