This Is Us- Season two

I hate to be morbid but Kate has Jacks ashes in an urn. If he actually dies in the fire how would they know which ashes were his? I know, like I said morbid, but just a plot thought.

I don't personally think Jack dies in the fire (see my previous posts), but I can address this. There's a huge difference between dying in a fire, and having one's body consumed by a fire. Most people who die in fires, die of smoke inhalation, rather than actually burning to death. Even when a body catches fire, it actually takes a long time at a very hot temperature to reduce a body to ashes. Sorry to be gruesome but that's just reality. I think a lot of people have misperceptions, mostly because we don't like to really think about it.

Just because he died in the fire (if that is the cause) doesn't mean his body was burned to ashes.
His body was recovered or he did not die in the house but at a hospital.

Read another "because of the fire, but not in the fire" theory that also manages to involve the dog -

Basically, it says they all get out, but the dog jumps out of Kate's arms, runs toward the street, and Jack chases him and is hit by a car.

What do you think?

Could happen , but why does Rebecca have Jack's note book with his belongings on the front seat of the car? When the kids were at Miguel's they were not crying etc. They just said someone should tell Kevin. They would all be at the hospital I would think.

I too am a believer that he does not die in the fire.

Guess we wait and see how it plays out...lol

That is a plausible theory!

It's so hard with the time jumping to know how the events unfolded - Kate saying she needed to be the one to tell Kevin. This seems like she is referring to the fire only. Why would she be the one to tell him his dad died? This ties in with Rebecca driving up to the burned house, but with Jack's stuff on the seat. Makes it seem like the incidents are separate.

That's one of my theories, but I have a few holes in it.

I read this interview with Milo that isn't truly spoiler but may have more preview than some want to read.

"And when death actually becomes him, how traumatic and teary will it be?
'It’s just an absolute soul-crushing event,' he answers. 'Once you figure out the moment where it’s going to happen, you may get some hope — and then it’s all going to go away.'" This leads me to believe that they all get out of the fire safely. We barely get time to breathe a sigh of relief and BOOM!

I was thinking he goes in after Kevin, not knowing Kevin is with Sophie. But then I think Kevin would be blaming himself and feeling a ton of guilt, so I don't think that happens. Plus it does not involve the dog. Unless he goes back in to get the dog. GRRRRRRR I give up. Not really.

But he left the note on the outside of Kevin’s door. He knew he wasn’t home.

On this side discussion I have to disagree the saddest death on TV was McDreamy. I saw that coming from a mile away. It actually made me mad more than anything. Lazy writing.

The saddest death on TV was Colonel Blake on MASH. Loosely tied with Zeke on Parenthood. At least with Zeke you kind of knew it was coming. Still it wasn’t pretty in our house with DD and I both doing the big, ugly cry.
