Being the paranoid person that I am, I always make sure my crockpot has clear counter space around it - no towels, potholders, etc near it. It still makes me nervous leaving it on while I'm not home though so I tend to use it on weekends when I know I can be home while it's running.

Also in our house my husband always makes sure that the toaster is pulled out from the wall into the middle of the counter when in use. Of course it is only plugged in when in use.

For all of our carefulness we had a small fire this fall when the central air unit caught fire. Just goes to show you that sometimes there is nothing you can do.

Well, Crockpot released a statement about the show last night. I'm sure they said "WTH?" when they found out about their product being the cause of a fire on the most popular show on TV.

I never thought about using the sink. That's a great idea. I always put mine in the middle of my stove top making sure that it's not under a cupboard.

I never leave my Crockpot on while we aren't home. I guess that defeats the purpose LOL

Eh, I mostly use mine on the weekends, too. That's actually when I'm most likely to have time on my hands in the morning to set it up, but be distracted by big projects closer to dinner time, so it still helps a lot!

I do feel bad for the company, though. Tons of people have followed the instructions and used these safely for years, and now everyone is thinking of them as fires waiting to happen.

I got about 30 seconds in and pictured their photos and growth charts being licked by the flames. And the huge fire crawling up the stairs to the hallway...

That song was perfect for that moment, though.

I seriously am going to DVR the entire night. Someone from Boston mentioned when something was due to premier after the game, it wasn’t on until 3:00 am.

This is pretty much giving me more anxiety than the episode itself.

I'm in NJ. I plan on watching it on demand the next day. Or just record the entire night. I won't be home so I don't plan on watching it until Monday. I took off that day also.

After it was announced that it was on after the Superbowl DH and myself talked about taking Monday off. We never take the day after the Super Bowl off but we will not go to bed until after we watch the episode.

I took off because we always watch the super bowl with friends. Last year I didn't and I felt like crap at work. I knew better this time. My SO takes it off every year. This year is an added bonus that the Eagles are in the super bowl!

Not much happens at work that day for both DH and myself so we just suck it up. We have no hope of our team ever being in a Superbowl or at this point ever making it to the playoffs so there are usually no late nights for us that day.
