This is Us- Season six

I have a feeling I might not be Team Toby anymore after next week. That preview was a lot and it seems like it might all be Toby's fault.

I liked it, but then again I have always loved Randall. I wish there had been more Deja. I was hoping for and epic Randall/Deja scene. My heart broke when she yelled at Randall that he was not her father.

I loved how Rebecca calmed down Randall and moved him through the day. I loved that they spent quality time together, something Randall will really appreciate once her memory starts fading. Rebecca is conducting herself with dignity and instead of retreating from the world she is building memories with this time she has left. And it is not lost on Randall.

So I guess Malik is out of the picture, was nice what Randall said to him. Letting him know that he liked Malik but that he was not right for Deja at that moment. Will be interesting to see if he winds up with Deja at the end.

Next week. Yikes. The smoker incident. Toby casually mentioned at the end that the smoker came in for the party. When they showed little Jack walking down the street alone.......omg prepare yourselves everyone.

The episode was ok for me. Randall is my least favourite of the big three.

My heart broke when I saw that Rebecca has memory boxes for the kids. Did anyone else notice that Kates was empty/ almost empty? They showed Randall’s flyer up against the handle hole, Kevin appeared to have a playbill in his handle hole, and Kates was dark and didn’t show anything.

I really wanted Randall to have a change of heart about Malik. When they were all sitting in the car after picking up Deja, it looked like he was thinking about it. I think that scene confirmed we’ll see Malik in the flash forward, because both the kids said now isn’t the time, but could be in the future.

Didn’t see the preview (thanks for nothing CTV) but sounds like a doozy.

Based on the flash forwards we’ve seen, I’m guessing Randall does not become a senator…he didn’t have any security at the cabin.

Loved the episode as usual - though I was worried a couple of times that Randall was going to back out of his swim test because the others weren't ready.

So nice that Randall and Rebecca had that car trip time together (both for the characters and for the audience in terms of background - I loved the cookie flashback!) But still not happy about how the Malik and Deja breakup happened.

Definitely agree next week with be huge!

Seems like Kate’s marriage is in trouble way before the smoker incident. And I’m confused - I thought it was some kind of burn incident with the smoker not Jack wandering off? Sometimes I’m not paying total attention to the episode and I miss crucial clues! Keeps me coming back for more which I guess is the idea!!

I’m guessing they mentioned the egg smoker because Toby was suppose to be watching him but was more into the smoker. He went missing, maybe he falls or runs into something. The producer just made us think he got hurt by it in the previous episode.

I’m guessing he went to the park like she taught him but it sure would be scary for them all.

That was my previous guess as well, but this show definitely likes to reveal clues a little at a time. LOL

I bet Toby was supposed to be watching Jack, but got distracted tending to the smoker, and Jack wandered off.

I don’t think I’d have my husband watching the child if he’s smoking meat but just my opinion lol. Seems there would be other family around though I’m sure Toby gets the blame

It would really depend. We have a smoker, and basically, it goes: put in meat, check occasionally for 8 hours or so, take out meat. A chicken would be more like 3 hours. But my point is, smokers are pretty hands-off for most of the cook time. Plus, they have probes so you don't have to open them up to check the temperature or anything (DH gets this info sent to his phone).

Ok so first off: I love Sterling K. Brown-that’s it that’s the tweet end of story.

And now the rest of the episode:

Turns out Mandy, Milo and Justin actually co-directed the overlapping scenes. While stressful, that’s also pretty cool and something I’m now wondering if they have done for the other trilogies.

I said this the past two weeks, but I love the teen/YA big three and am happy they are getting some final chances to shine.

I do not think this is the end of Deja and Malik. I commend Malik for actually keeping the decision he made to break up with Deja. He realized it was too much, and honestly probably would’ve come to that conclusion even without Randall (though most likely later on). Why do I not think this is the end? Two things in that discussion he had with Randall: their mutual respect and gratitude for each other AND Randall’s “Sometimes things come back together” part of the speech. While him and Deja might not wind up together, they will definitely be in each other’s lives.

Lyric Ross slayed as Deja this week. Like I said last week about the big three teen actors, I can’t wait to see what she does post This Is Us.

Also poor Annie -girl can’t catch a break. And neither can Tess at times but she should’ve told them she left.

I really hope we see Rebecca’s boxes again. I loved that connection.

So does Randall run for a higher office or president as foreshadowed in the season finale last year? Cuz we haven’t seen a single secret service agent in any of the flash forwards. This makes me think he either stops before he runs for President or he loses the election.

I’m happy Kevin is starting to find a balance with Madison and their co parenting. I’m glad Kate told Toby this wasn’t it (I’m still in the camp of blame both of them for this, but Toby was definitely wrong springing a freaking house tour on her last week).

Next week. Oh boy. On a positive, I do hope next week leads to a discussion about smoker safety. I also think Jack (not baby Jack we know he’s a big deal next week already) and Gregory will play into nexts weeks episode more than we think.

I honestly don’t know who will be at fault in terms of who was supposed to be watching Jack, but part of the reason I think we are seeing Gregory is he tries to stop him but can’t due to his condition. Like he sees the little guy walking around and he tries.

Either way it’s gonna destroy us. And I also think next week will start ramping up the start of getting answers to various questions/more flash forwards

The divorce certainly isn’t going to help Toby in the short term. He’s still going to need to fly in every other weekend (I think he mentioned 4 flights a month) to see the kids. As they get older, he’ll need to find a way to duplicate Jack’s education in San Francisco in order to have custody there for any length of time. They’re young enough that they’re going to need one of the parents to fly with them back and forth for years. I’m interested to see how that all plays out.
