This is Us- Season six

😭

both dreading and looking forward to tonights episode.
Same for me. I literally can’t watch any news about Ukraine anymore because it is so upsetting. I hope This Is Us doesn’t turn me into a watering pot tonight. At least I know it is fiction.

38 minutes in and I'm hyperventilating. The whole walk to the park was excruciating.

Ugh, They are dragging out the end of Kate and Toby another week. We know it's over and she marries another guy. They didn't need two episodes to drag out the misery. I honestly would love an episode where everyone is happy. Just. One. Episode.
I wholeheartedly agree about dragging out Kate and Tony another week. Enough already.

I have never been a big fan of Toby. Heck I am not a fan of Kate either.

But man, great acting by Chris Sullivan.

I so wanted to hold the man when he was in his son's bedroom at the end.

See with worrying about Toby being set up to be the bad guy. No issue. How I felt for him.

That might be part of why I like Toby so much. It's just dang good acting on the part of Chris Sullivan.

yup, they tricked us, the injury was not due to the smoker thing. My goodness that little fellow who played young Jack is so adorable! What a cutie. It was so sad to see Kate and Toby's marriage disintegrate. So sad. I always loved them together and their humor. Not sure how I feel about her with the guy at the blind school.

The young big 3 actors are great too. Was cute how they stuck together and protected Kate then and now.

We had storms through the area last night, so I missed a few minutes--the very beginning (as I screamed "NOOOO!" at the TV), and then a couple minutes at about the 45-minute mark. Did I miss anything?

I'm not seeing how the Big Green Egg is such a symbol of the failing marriage? Maybe it's discussed more next week? I would think it would be the soggy sheetrock on the floor. That's more of a "we can't fix this" metaphor.

Little Jack is about the cutest thing going. I love him!

I can't decide. My first reaction was also that we, the audience, were going to be tortured another week.

But I also really respect them for writing Kate and Toby as trying everything before giving up. Divorce is not an easy solution by any means, and when kids are involved, I do think it should be a last resort. So in a way, I like that they didn't wrap it all up in one big fight episode.

I get that it was to set up the protective relationship between the siblings, and Rebecca's speech and everything, but if I were the babysitter, I would have just let them lay in bed awake and talk to each other. 🤣

Love little Jack as well! And Kate's speech about his dignity was spot on! (I wish I'd been better about tasking the time for independence when my own kid was little, and I wasn't dealing with sight issues. She's amazing in that regard.)

My favorite line of the whole episode is when Kate said Beth was the least stressful member of the family!!

The Big Green Egg was the beginning because when Toby ordered it they said they could have a big family party. With out it no party I guess. I don’t know.

The little boy playing Jack is so good. Him crossing the street and showing those stairs scared the crap out of me.

Parenting is hard , I see both sides. Glad Rebecca felt for Toby and everyone didn’t turn on him.

For starters, I love Little Jack. I also thought Chris Sullivan and Chrissy Metz did amazing.

In terms of the flashback, I thought it was a fun insight into how the big three really came to be. Also the drink names I was howling. That poor babysitter though…

In the present:
1) I’m shocked we didn’t see Gregory. We got a mention of him, but shocked my prediction of him being there was proven wrong. I do hope we see him again given this is the end of Kate and Toby. Along with Dr. K and William. We need some more closure with them.

2) I love Beth. She truly is the least problematic and least stressful character in the show.

3) Regardless the outcome, we were proven that Little Jack actually learned something.

4) Both Kate and Toby were wrong end of story. He didn’t check the gate, she should’ve locked the door post plumber and told him not to leave. Also YOU COULDN’T TAKE THE POOR KID TO THE PARK BEFORE THE PARTY EVEN FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME?!?!?

5) Both Kate and Toby also had points regarding Little Jack. You cannot deny he has limitations but you also can’t expect him to not be independent.

5) I didn’t see Randall coming in between the K’s and Toby as a “he’s protecting them moment” more of a diffuse the situation moment.

6) We saw the start of how Kevin winds up caring for Rebecca. It’s when she asks him to fill everything out.

7) Something is still off about Elijah to me

8) That being said, while Kevin clearly still has issues with it, him and Madison have started to find that happy medium. She let him see the kids after the incident, and he will still have her as his emergency contact. And while I respect that he knocks first, if it were an emergency or he had to get something, he shouldn’t hesitate to use the key.

9) It always intrigued me that Randall called Toby and said she (which could be Rebecca, Kate and/or Hailey or a combo of them) in the flashforward. We saw those seeds planted tonight too. How Rebecca had a silent stare to Toby, how Beth talked to him, how Randall didn’t get fully in his face. They will definitely be in contact in the future-how we don’t know

10) How did NO ONE see a child-regardless of the fact he is blind and uses a walking stick- all alone and NOT CALL SOMEONE?!?!? Like ***?!?!?

11) the smoker story I don’t think is over yet, however between this and crockpots, the show is telling me to not have various cooking products in my home

12) I’m gonna miss learning something from the show every week. This weeks educational moment came courtesy of Miguel and the Puerto Rican doll tradition at weddings.

13) the plumber couldn’t patch up that hole?

14) with the news out of Paley fest that the final two episode scripts are out there (the cast has not read the finale only the second to last-writer room twitter confirmed that last night), we need to start bracing ourselves. My guess will be starting with the May episodes it’s gonna be a lot of information coming at us all at once.

Me too!

I agree. In the teaser for next week, they showed Toby saying he was going to move back to LA. I think there is another moment coming up.

I read an article that discussed this. They said the Green Egg thing was a symbol of the family gathering (it was kind of funny, they were interviewing Chris Sullivan and he joked about how relieved the fine folks at Green Egg company are today LOL.) They bought green egg so Toby could cook for the family, it was the center of the celebration, a symbol of family and togetherness and celebrating milestones. It did not cause Jacks injury, but it symbolized the beginning of the end of Toby and Kate.

It also talked about how the Big 3 being close was both good and bad. They had each others backs, but at what cost? The Pearsons are so tightly knit that it's hard for them to let others in. The article mentions how Beth is an outsider as well as Miguel and Toby, and how they never feel like part of the family unit. They are kind of kept on the fringe of the inner circle. They showed that last night when the big 3 squared off against Toby.

This is why I wanted more than that one episode with the other big three (Miguel, Beth and Toby)! Also the green egg people are definitely happier than the crockpot people
