This is Us- Season four

I liked last night's episode but I have to say I'm getting a little tired of the flashback format. Sometimes i just want to watch the current story unfold.

I wanted to see more of the Kate story but I bet we get a whole.episode of that.

Really? I thought it was a snoozer. It really didn't move the plot along at all. And I bet you a nickel, Kevin is going to get on the news for being this big hero, and it's only going to help his career. Which was about to tank, for walking off the set. I dunno, maybe I was just jaded last night--I wanted to see more of the Kate situation.

I assume the next episode is going to focus on Kate and her situation during the same period of time as Kevin and Randall. It's another one of those 3-part series of episodes focusing on one of the three kids during the same stretch of time. I think they did the same thing last season (or the season before that - they all blend together after awhile)?

I have to say I was a little bored. I like how they tie stuff in though. Like how we see Kevin as a kid and how Jack impacted him. Then we see Jack as a kid and his dad and how that impacted him as a father. Then present day Kevin trying to do the right thing for everyone.

I was a little annoyed at Kevin begging the TSA agent to just let him through. I'm sure she won't let him, but it just annoyed me that he begged her and she looked like she was going to magically let him through with no ID. Would never happen. I know it's just a show but we'll see what happens. Looks like he does not make the birth according to next weeks preview.

I liked the episode. Kevin has really grown...getting his priorities straight. And Madison made me cry. My daughter recently gave birth and was concerned that she could possibly have to labor alone due to COVID.

My petty gripe about last night's episode? Not only does it seem they're set to make Randall the hero of the birth of Kevin's babies, but my favorite character is literally sitting right there, with FIRSTHAND experience of giving birth no less, and so far Beth hasn't been written one word to say.

I thought that, too. Beth has been through this, I'm sure she has some insights, or could at least provide a calming voice.

Yeah, I found Beth not really talking weird. Maybe she has more to say next episode lol.

You would think, but from how they showed us what is happening I don't think so. Initially when they call Madison, Randall is driving. When they cut back and forth after establishing that they are going to stay on the phone with her they show us Beth driving, presumably so Randall can assume the heroic stance in the passenger seat.

Hopefully he can multitask if Kate's baby's birth mother needs to be talked through things as well.

I thought that the previews for this one definitely implied that Kevin was in a terrible wreck, hurrying to get there, Then in the episode itself, he was preoccupied on the phone, cars were swerving around him, etc. All pointing to a definite conclusion, complete with his ID laying on the ground--which of course did not happen. That felt manipulative to me.

I did wonder why Beth just had a cryptic look on her face and did no talking in the car. Didn't seem authentic.

I liked the dual scenes with Jack and his father and then Jack and Kevin. That young boy playing Jack was so good. I felt the terrible tension he had in being forced to drive a car for the first time by his rotten father.

Yeah, they definitely made us think Kevin was in the car crash. Sneaky. They like to purposely mislead us.

Like pp said, I also thought it was really odd that Beth said nothing to Madison beyond "hello." I wanted her to jump in and work her magic. We know she can.

I was so surprised and happy to see a new episode in my DVR this morning!!

I thought it was good. I was totally faked out by the accident set-up, but it's definitely a "them" thing to do (them being the writing team) and I always like when they do the parallel scenes between different generations.

I do think Beth will have more lines next week, as they try to help Madison from afar, and I feel horrible for Kevin, missing this because of doing the right thing. I'm hoping we hear from the guy he saved again.

So great to finally have a new episode again. This was one of my favorites.
Hmmm...I thought it was the longest 15 min. span ever. Obviously I know more than 15 mins passed in time but it just seemed to be lacking so much real content. It's the first episode I was kinda just bored with.

Yes...I kept waiting for her to jump in with some great remark or something...but she said nothing??? So very odd.

I felt the same way. The episode just reinforced stuff we already knew. We know Jack's dad was a jerk. We know Jack is a much better man than his father. We know Kevin is conflicted about Madison and his role as partner & dad/ job. It was just okay for me. It was nice to see Nick Stokes. I had such a crush on him. LOL !

I know they drug that conversation out for the drama but you CAN fly without ID, you just have to go through additional screening. IRL, the TSA agent would ahve known that and immediately directed him to the additional screening instead of wasting precious time on that back and forth...but then, that would not have made good TV, would it?

Kevin was absolutely correct that his identity could be confirmed since it was all online.

It just made the TSA look bad.

I forgot my Identification; can I still proceed through security screening?
In the event you arrive at the airport without proper ID, because it is lost or at home, you may still be allowed to fly. By providing additional information, TSA has other ways to confirm your identity, like using publicly available databases, so you can reach your flight.
If your identity cannot be verified, you will not be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint.

I was thinking that too, people have to have situations where they lose or have their ID stolen right before a flight and provisions are set in place for that. Let's hope Kevin does get back in time.
