I don't have bay tree or curry and have no idea what galangal is! I do have basil, rosemary, parsley and thyme. Tonight I bought chives and sage. I'm still looking for oregano and a couple other odd ball herbs. Too tired to post pics tonight, but they're in PB ready to go. We'll see how energetic Fran is tomorrow. For now I'm going to take a bath!

Enjoy the bath and sleep well.

Galangal is like a ginger root but used in Asian cooking, particularly curries.

I want to plant small batches, as chris doesnt do herbs.

We are being rather ambitious. In the past I had the herb garden and grew two tomato plants. Somewhere around the time her father died so did my herbs and last year I skipped the tomatoes. The squash and cucumbers are a stretch but Fran thinks she can help out. Already we didn't water today so we'll see how we do on the garden this year!

Maybe next weekend I will buy a tomato plant and some herbs.

Take some pictures. And Bobbi has started a spring vegetable thread over on the Creative>gardening subforum. Might be good to go post your pics on there. I've been posting on last year's spring veg thread. So once I finish this crop, I'll move over to the other.

I have some parsley growing in the window over my kichen sink. It's growing great, but I rarely use any of it.

Do you make pesto? Or did we already have this discussion....you don't like pesto?? :scratchin

When you see the photos of the yard, you'll see why water systems won't really work.

Do you drink soda? If so, do you have those plastic bottles? Turn the bottle upsidedown and cut the bottom. The closer you cut to the bottom, the more volume you'll have.

Place the bottleneck near your plants...one bottle per plant. This way when you want to water, you just fill the bottle up and walk away.

Well that is clever for watering. I will check out that forum , where is it located?

Yes. Make it the same way you would basil pesto. If you leave out the parmesan cheese, you might be able to use the parsley pesto in more ways...assuming that you don't want parmesan flavour in some foods. And you could try different nuts than just pinenuts.

There's a commercially made dip that uses coriander and macadamia nuts. It's to die for.

Hmm, I'm not sure it will yeild much, but it's a good suggetion, I think it would be good on sanwhiches.

I'm off to bed. Sleep well when you get around to it.

Good night. Catch you in a couple of days.

I'm hoping for an early night myself. My turn to put DS to bed and then I think I'm putting myself to bed too. :cloud9:

Good morning all!

PIO - interesting watering tip! I'll have to talk to Fran about that. Those bottles are worth $.10! Besides she mostly drinks cans.
