Take care of yourself Queenie and I hope it pass quickly.:flower3:

I can't wait to pick up our puppy. :yay:

We'll it looks like the Panama canal cruise is out for Dec 2012 and we're heading to Kauai (Marriott Waiohai) and Ohau (Aulani) instead. I convinced DH cousin's we could pull off two trips instead of the one Panama Canal cruise for about the same cost and we'll do that later when it has better stops. I found a rental on redweek for the first week in Dec and we'll split the cost. So it looks like we'll be able to keep the May 2013 LA to Vancouver cruise. They may join us on the cruise too.

I changed our early Nov Grand California reservation from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom to free up some points for Aulani.

Doing two HI resorts on two islands sounds like fun. I'd do Aulani for the pool, and Maui for excursions, and either for beach time.

 The DIS has been awful today!

SLOW today.

DH's cousin love Kauai and so do we. I guess that puts us in the old timers group and they've never stayed on Ohau so we'll do 4 or 5 nights at Aulani so we can go to Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center, some snorkeling and beach time.

We like Maui, but I still don't see why everyone raves about it so much. I guess I'm a country girl at heart so Kauai is more my speed.

I think people love Maui because it doesn't have Honolulu, the tower hotels and freeways. It has the inclusive resorts.

But the things you get on Oahu are nice too. I'm sure you will have fun. Hanauma Bay park is awesome for snorkeling, but can get crowded.

Next time I want to go to Hawaii, I think I'm gonna be asking skiingfast where to go. Sounds like you've been there a bunch of times. :thumbsup2

I'm going to jump in and not try to catch up. I loved Kona, I haven't been to Maui since i was 10 so I really can't comment on it. Hated Oauhu, but that was because we spent the afternoon in Waikiki.

I'm looking forward to Aulani, but I also prefer the out of the way parts of hawaii.

Rehearsal was good this afternoon, but they ate all the enchiladas. Sorry :sad2: I have to remember that I am cooking for a bunch of guys who most of them probably don't get home cooked meals too often. I made 30 enchiliadas, a big a$$ salad, and a dozen little cups of six layer dip served with chips. Then we had a 1/4 sheet cake of Red Velvet cake. We brought a little of the cake home, but that's it everyone ate EVERYTHING in sight!

I am constantly amazed when they do this. I make a ton of food and I don't think anyone goes hungry, but I'm amazed a how many people go back for seconds when I can't even finish my firsts!

I was kind of lucky. When I was school age my dad would go to his companies office there and we made it a family vacation. He would work probably 3 full days and we would go from weekend to weekend. So we did stuff together on his non work days and on his work days DM would take us on hikes.

Best memory was first visit so probably 6 or 7 years old. My neighbors down the street went and I along with thier son were let loose in the Honolulu Zoo. Pretty standard zoo but it was nice to be away from parents in an unknown place. For the most part Japanese tourist took pictures of our blond hair and blue eyes.

You are probably right, it is probably better than TV dinners.

I stayed at the Sheraton and Waikiki is not much different than any beach city lined with hotels. Though with Diamond Head in the back drop. The thing I liked was watching the people on outrigger canoes and sounding conche shells in the evening.

I'm thinking of going back with friends this Summer of Fall. A cheap trip with them. They are from Europe and have asked about it so I think it's time.

Sounds like the perfect sort of vacay. :thumbsup2

We will see. These guys and girls never agree on anything so any plan is a long shot.

I'm going to dream about black sand beaches. Good night.

It's pretty simple. That's because your food is sooooo good. :goodvibes

it akways gives me that perplexing question, how much to make? I've got lunch for 40 or so next weekend so I got a second ham out of the freezer. I'm going to make scalloped potatoes, Fran wants to make yams. I have devilied eggs and salad coming. We asked band members to bring potluck dessert. I think I need a baked vaggies dinner option.
