This was crossing my mind after another post a couple of weeks ago. They are preventing the 1st come 1st served aspect that is part of our agreement with DVC. I have direct and resale points and have had plenty of banked points to use up the past couple of years but did finally borrow from a resale contract and was one of the lucky ones that was able to. If not though I'd be quoting the POS to DVC for an answer of why this remains an issue after this length of time.Someone needs to start a lawsuit - this is not equal opportunity access to the product for which we all pay dues. Beyond the realm of poor customer service now and they obviously have no intention of fixing it - nefarious or incompetent, result is the same.
So far I have had no problems borrowing either, but I wouldn’t have been able to piece together my last minute Christmas trip had I been affected by this - rooms came and went very quickly. This was crossing my mind after another post a couple of weeks ago. I wonder what percent of resale owners this effects?
And also what percent of direct owners encounter this problem?
Nothing to do with resale vs direct. I have a combo of resale and direct points. I have two friends with 100% direct points. We've all seen the dwarves within the past month. It's annoying.

during one of my 3 calls last week to MS, the CM specifically mentioned that this tends to happen with some resale contracts. That is why it makes it so confusing because it doesn’t impact each account the same way.
While we do hear it impacts resale contracts more than direct, is it because more people on these boards are resale owners vs direct owners and those are the reports we see more of?
And, just from reports here, there are several different things that happen…some no issues at all and others had some success and then couldn’t to not ever.
Again, I haven’t been impacted but did send an email regarding it because it either needs to be fixed or they need to allow people to borrow ahead of time and return points later if they don’t get what they want.

i admit, it doesn't make any sense to me why only some resale (or more resale) would be affected - but if the attitude is "this only affects some resale contracts so NBD" - that's a lot more problematic to me than a random glitch (which is still unacceptable).

Yes, but this resale borrowing glitch has been around a lot longer than the most recent spate of glitches (seems to come in waves, but the borrow glitch always occurs for certain accounts).Just the dwarves in general. I've never had an issue booking online with borrowed points as a resale owner. Also, the room I was trying to book when this happened to me earlier this month didn't require any borrowed points. It was all 2022 UY points. I got all the way to the confirmation screen three times, even filling out my family's info before the dwarves would show up. After several browsers and three attempts, I secured a room without having to call. The room I "lost out on" was a BCV studio, so it's also possible it was letting me come close to booking a room that wasn't actually available. Or it would have been available had I been able to book right at 8:00 on my first try. I ended up with a BWV standard view studio, which I'm just as happy with. But would I have had that BCV studio had my first (two!) attempts been successful? Who knows. I think the website in general is just glitchy.

sample size of one resale account that's been active for a little more than a week - but i've made 5 currently active resis in that time (along with an absurd amount of tinkering), and i can say that every booking without borrowed points has been perfectly smooth and every single attempted booking with borrowed points has gotten the dwarves. For sure! That's what I was saying. I've never experienced the resale borrowing glitch, and I've had resale points since 2015. I've never experienced issues or encountered the dwarves on the DVC site until recently. Same with my friends who have all direct points. I don't think the current glitch has anything to do with borrowing points, resale points, direct points, etc. Something else entirely must be causing it, and I hope they fix it soon.
this sounds likely. but then the answer should be to allow all borrowed bookings and then cancel any that borrow more than 50% - like a pop-up warns on like every single page of the DVC site. or, and i know this is crazy, but just fix the code.I read somewhere that a CM said this was a problem specifically since they’ve instituted the limit of borrowing only 50% of points, for some reason they are unable to enforce the limit on resale contracts online.

there could obviously be other issues too, but the borrowing one seems pretty cut and dry.

I am all resale and the only time I had a problem borrowing was when it was for the only contract I have that wasn't grandfathered. It was the first borrow of that use year, also the first time I've borrowed from that contract. We're probably going to drive ourselves crazytrying to discern a pattern in the wonky ways in which the website doesn't work.
