I dont think its fair at all, i mean they can't give everyone a prize, there is too many of us, i think they just should of sold the items for maybe a lower price since its dream month.

Btw Shadow, VMK_Pirate xD

The exact same concept is going on at the parks. Not everyone there can win a prize either...and the prizes that can be won are generally not those that can be purchased. So in going with the theme of the Disney parks, I think it's completely fair.

ive won dreams ears myself, but I want them to sell the items, simply to be fair to the people who havent got the time to wait in rooms all day.
had this been any other month I myself would be very restricted in my vmk hours.

I agree with Master Gracy. With the start of a new job, I can't possibly sit in a room to camp out (much less even sign onto VMK for very long), which obviously means I can't get a prize at all. I know that my real life issues are way more important (LOL even though it'd be easier if VMK were top priority!) and I need to plan the curriculum for the kids I will be teaching :scared1: .

I don't mind if only certain people win the ears or the suite or whatever other prizes they're giving out. Like someone else said, it is very much like the park and I would think there is a greater number of people disappointed at the parks than people who have won a dream. I do like the concept because it does make it feel more like being at Disney.

However, I believe they should sell Dream items. If they sell items that pertain to the theme then everyone can get a piece of it and take part. I don't believe that it has to be the items people are winning but just something, a pin or a poster. This will still create the distinction between the people that won the Dream and the people that bought the Dream but at least people like me can have some small part in it.

I am thrilled that so many DISers have been winning items! I especially love when you guys post the pictures of the rooms. Such creativity! That at least gives me some time to be a part of the camping out by seeing such gorgeous rooms!

Here is my 2cents on this all...I have no time to sit in a room(s) waiting for staff to give whatever out and hope they do when I am in the room IF they pop in at the time I'm in. I am not planning to spend the little time I can jump on VMK waiting either. I find this whole thing a bit silly and its obviously one I see to cause a MAJOR problem all month long with those that do NOT understand how this works. There is going to be more begging and stalking going on in the game for the Hosts then ever before IMO. Which obviously will get you nothing if you do it...as it should.
And as it being the theme in the Disney parks...well its been one of the lamest ideas those higher ups have had. They didn't advertise it well and want to do it for another year!! Why?? I have no clue cause its not what is bringing people into the theme parks. The people go cause they want to. Its a Disney park..why wouldn't they? And from what I have been reading on lots of boards...there are tons of guests in the Disney parks that have the Dream Squad CMs come up to whatever guests and those guests have not one clue what this whole Year of a Million Dreams thing is and thing the CM is trying to sell them something. Then the poor CM has to explain they aren't and are trying to give them something for free. LOL I find it funny that this is the case alot of times but can understand the guests not knowing since it really is not advertised well. Obviously there are tons of us that do know and understand how it all works. It seems that from what I have been reading on this board for the game, that the Hosts are trying to give whatever out in a system similar to how it is in the theme parks. As it should be really. Hopefully it will be a chance for more to get whatever prizes given doing it that way.

Okay just had a host come by and bestow...pink slipper chair, blue flower, and teacup teleporter on everyone. While it was nice the host came by, it also meant that as a leader I was stuck with the unhappy guests who did not understand why they were given a semi-rare slipper chair and two buyable items. Even replacing one of the buyables with the dreams pin would have helped. Finally had to bail out because I got tired of trying to be Miss "but at least you got a gift".

If you are going to do a "dreams" theme at least keep a dreams item for every handout. I have a feeling it is going to be a long month for community leaders since we have the burden of dealing with the disappointment.

It is nice to win anything at all, but I am a little baffled as to why they would give buyables. I guess that is because they do that in the parks as well. Mickey Ears, Pins with Lanyards, 5x7 pictures, etc. ;)

Absolutely amazing that ppl would not be happy with a free pink slipper and other items. At least they got a dream. Many many many have not gotten that.

Leader or not, I think I would have told ppl in my room to recognize they just got a dream, how lucky!

Yes it was great that Lily came by and, while I really like the room, I was happy to get a gift. Oh well, most guests seem to appreciate anything. It's just a few that get their expectations high on these events.

To me, I thinki t would have been better if they gave prizes at random if you are in a room at a certain time in a certain outfit without having to have a host or staff member be there.

That way the wouldn't be ridiculously long queues everywhere.

I think it's fair, but in a way very disappointing because I can only get on for an hour a week at most. That time I have to spend collecting credits to try to get the weekly releases; I don't have time to go anywhere but game lobbys if I want to buy stuff. It would be really nice if I could get some of this stuff but I know it isn't going to happen. However, I do understand why they're doing it the way they are, and I think it's wonderful. Sure, people who feel they're entitled to everything will get mad if they don't get something, but I tend to feel happy for the people who get stuff even through my disappointment at not getting anything. This is the way this thing is run in the parks. Some people get 3 dreams in one day, some people go 20 times and get nothing. It's completely random, and it wouldn't be fair if it wasn't. I think everyone would be complaining a whole lot more if only staff favorites or CL_'s were getting stuff... :)

I agree, it should 100% be Dreams only at least even the ebay stuff. I was sooo upset today twice. First this afternoon in Central plaza I ran into a HOST_ and she was not giving out prizes and just walked right out of the area. Second time I was in Tomorrowland and the HOST_ gave everyone a green tron throne and one girl got the Dream Room. Couldnt we at least get ears or the pin?

call me bitter or petty, I dont care. Its a waste of time to give out buyables or rares like pink slipper. Everyone wants dreams stuff. Very annoyed

I think it's awful that your room full of people weren't given at least a new pin. Everyone is expecting to win a dreams prize, and to be given a pink slipper, which I have at least three of myself, and two buyable items is simply ridiculous. There are enough dreams prizes for the hosts to choose from. There is no reason they gave out such common items. Even the package with the red tent is more rare than the pink slipper.
I'm sorry the guests in your room were so rude as to voice their disappointment with you, however. They should have complained to vmk via the black hole, it was clearly not your fault they did not win a dreams prize. Leader or not, you had no idea what the prizes may be.
I seriously hope vmk will work out the kinks on this soon.

Think about it this way, with the Dreams promo in the parks are they giving average stuff you can buy in the parks. I dont think so, so if VMK is going to act on the Dreams program like the one in the parks, give prizes that are exclusive. But also, give the ability for people who may never get a dream the ability to buy a dreams item, like you can in the parks.

Between that and that they think we still have staff on our lists, long month indeed. Already sick of the "where is staff?" or "can you call staff?" question. Ah well, for love of the game, no?

Heh, CL's are not the only ones who are being asked this question. I cannot tell you how many times ppl were asking me where they can find staff...where is staff now...just for wearing my dream ears. I finally took them off because I was tired of all the questions. :headache:

My take on this? Things from the park don't always translate well in the game.

When something is an unexpected treat, it's a pleasant surprise. There's enough real-life distraction at the parks to keep even folks who are aware of the promotion occupied, so winning does not become the primary focus.

But when you have thousands of VMK players who (a) know there are prizes being handed out, and (b) are trained to want rare things in the game, expecting them to go about their business as usual is like telling them not to think about pink elephants. Not going to happen, and I find it sort of humorous that staff has to send out all these messages now. Really, what did they expect?

We're used to having some control over our ability to acquire credits and items in VMK. Any time that staff throws in random prizes, it causes a ruckus because it runs against the normal flow of things. It's never going to seem as fair as buying an item, trading for it, or doing a quest for it.

Don't get me wrong; I know staff is trying to do something fun for the players. I'm just not sure how well it works in a game like this.
