We are staying at BCV in October. Our DD could not get reservations at BC or BW (we warned her she waited too long!) so she is at SS. Our 4 year old grandson is going to be with them. Would it be possible for them to visit us at BC and for our little guy to have down time at the pool with us or is that technically considered pool hopping?

Do you have "room" (capacity) in your villa to add them to your reservation? If so, problem solved.

If not, I suspect your DD and DGS would be considered pool hoppers, and as we all know, pool-hopping is not permitted at BCV.

However, it's probably worth asking at the pool and/or front desk if it's ok, especially if it's not particularly busy and possibly more likely in the DVC pool rather than Stormalong Bay...

And of course, you can head over to SSR, where pool-hopping is permitted, to share some pool/down time over there...the SSR pools are really good!

Good luck...

Thanks for the quick reply. DH & I are in a studio and there are three of them so having them stay with us is not an option.

I didn't know SS allowed pool hopping but the convenience of BCV so we can just change and go to DHS to back to EPCOT can't be beat. It is something to consider though. I'll ask at the front desk and take it from there.

Again, thanks!:)

MinnieLee, you don't need to have them actually stay with you. Just call Member Services and add their names to the reservation. Then they will have a BCV key and can use the pool. I assume they will let the little one in without a room key since Mom and Dad and grandparents would have one.

Or, just add your daughter and grandson to the reservation to be sure he will have pool access and let his dad be the one without the key. Anyone is allowed to go into the pool area or to eat at Beaches and Cream so he could just hang out around the resort, etc. while everyone else swam. And, you might get a sympathetic Cast Member if the pool is not too busy :) and then everyone could swim.

Unless you add them to your reservation so you have a key you will not be able to bring them to the pool with you. The guards will defiantly check a room key for every member of your party regardless of age, at least they have for my family on multiple trips to BC.

Are you staying on points? If so you should be able to add an extra name on the reservation without paying the per night fee. If you're using the Dining Plan this will not be an option for you.

Another option being DVC members you can hop over to SS to join them at there pool.

Last October my husband took my grandsom to SAB and forget our grandson's room key in the villa. They had to walk all the way back to get it; there was no letting him into swim without it. He was 5.

Thank you to all for the replies. I didn't even think of adding their names onto our room reservation. We are DVC members, BCV is one of our home resorts and we do not have the dining plan. If it came down to it, they probably could go into the "quiet pool" by the villa area. I rarely even see anyone in it. I'll call member services and just add their names on.

Thaks again to all with great advice and "heads up" to what could happen. I would rather be safe than sorry - after all how do you tell a 4 year old he is looking at the pool but can't go in??!!! I couldn't handle his disappointment. I'll put their names on.

As long as 5 can go into a studio, definitely add them.

If all 5 can't (and I just got rejected while going to the process to make a BC studio reservation for 4 adults and 1 child due to capacity), and the important thing is that HE get pool time with you and your husband, then just add him to the reservation. You guys can have some time at the pool with him while his parents go do something else? Could be fun for all!

Or, yes, visit them at Saratoga Springs. While I've never seen the BCV pool, we LOVED the Paddock Springs pool at SSR. Small enough so you can easily keep track of everyone, and if he's under the height limit there's a fenced off little kid area that you can go to and let him have some waterplay.

The studios only sleep 4. What I would do is add the child and one of the parents. (The one most likely to swim). The other parent may be able to tell the guard that they left there key in the room and you might get lucky. If not, they can just tell them they don't plan on swimming and can just sit by the pool.

Have a great vacation.

You've gotten advice on how to get it done and I agree with the advice. Technically just having them visit the pool with you would otherwise not be technically allowed. You could always ask management for permission but they would likely say no at SAB.

You're really going to suggest that they lie, not once but twice.

Honestly the pools are so nice at SSR, and you can legally, without any lying, go to SSR and join them, as it is allowed per DVC guidelines.

There are 3 pools with kids areas, at SSR.

Agreed though you still have to get permission from the front desk.

Last May we were staying at BCV with our DD and DGDs. My DB was staying at a value. He wanted to take pictures of the girls at the pool. He was fully dressed with a big camera hanging around his neck. During the week, once he was allowed in and once turned away.

Actually, I only suggested they lie once. (saying he forget his key in the room). My other suggestion was he just go sit by the pool while the other 2 swim.

I'm not going to debate morals on this one, I was just making suggestions.

1. Here's the party we'll have, 4 people.
2. We forgot our key in the room.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. I stated the studios only sleep 4 so they will not be able to add all 3 to there room. If they add one parent and the child they will ensure that at the very least the child and a supervising adult will be able to use SAB. There is no lie there, and there is also absolutely nothing wrong with them doing that.

There would be no "we forgot our key in the room", there may be an "I forgot my key in the room" if they wanted to take a shot at having both parents swim.

Again, my first suggestion was they all go swim at SSR but the poster pointed out the reasons for wanting to us SAB and not SSR.

I don't want to argue this with you, however suggesting they lie to skirt the rules is against my principles and obviously not against yours. As I interpreted your intent, it was to list only part of the party directly implying this were the entire party. To me that's also lying and I do not believe any technicality changes that. Why not simply be honest and ask for permission and abide by the answer.

Permission will NOT be granted...there were more than a few arguements with the 'guards' when we were there....which I agree...

People with no bathing suits...told to walk along the path OUTSIDE the fence of the pool area....three crying kids...one on the top of his lungs with the parent saying, really, you are going to disappoint a child. YES
Three different people claiming to have forgotten their key...yep, never to return. This was all one day last MAY when we were seated by the gate that the guard was guarding...you should hear some of the excuses he told about. A couple of times, people just pushed through and security was call to escort them out.:coffee:
Oh yea, one person passed their room key to their friend...guard scanned the card and said, I'm sorry, the card was just used to enter the pool...can I see your room key please?

I so feel sorry for the CMs that have to do these jobs, I always go out of my way to thank them.

One CM told a parent when they pulled the, "you are going to disappoint a child" comment, that "no, you are going to disappoint "your" child by trying to lie to get into a pool where you are not staying". :thumbsup2
