This is my serious question of the day

when someone talks about pants....we always refer to them as a pair of pants or a pair of jeans or a pair of slacks......but a pair would indicate two....correct me if I am wrong......one belly...one fanny....but the two legs....we also have one snap or a pull up set up....so what gives....why a pair of pants.....

That was the question yesterday. She now wants to change the language and when she becomes president, she will.

I could even throw into the 'big question' that Pants in the UK aren't the same as Pants in the US - though oddly enough we DO still say a pair of pants, LOL

Maybe originally they were two separate pieces that went on over each leg and then were held together with a belt. That would make them a pair of pants.

Good question Pumba. Just another one of those mysteries of life.

My pant vent for the day is, why can't they make a pair of mens jeans that fit the average middle aged mans body? My DH has DBS (disappearing butt syndrome) and the weight has moved from his butt to his waist. If he wears 36 inch waist , they fit in the waist but sag to his knees. If he wears 34, they fit a little better in the rear but are too tight on his stomach. They need to make the pants shaped like a V. I notice this on a lot of men, not just DH......

One of my favorite lines that Gallagher says is "You've got 1 bra, but a pair of panties-that just doesn't add up". He says the same thing about pants.
