This is a place to play nice with our friends. No discussing ANYTHING contraversial. You can tell a joke, but not a political joke.

Tell me what cute thing your child did today? or What's the nicest thing your husband/wife ever did for you? What's a funny thing your dog does? How did you meet your spouse? What's your best friend's name, and how long have you been friends?

I'm running (screaming) from all things political. Help me out, here, would ya?:teeth:

Ok, Pop Daddy. You're out of the club!!!!

Rhonda aka DW. 31 years. :wave2:

How did you meet your spouse?

Community college.
I was 17 (almost 18), fresh outta HS. Going to a local community college on the mercy of the state via a grant. Didn't know what I wanted to do with my life (not that I know any more now than I did then.:p ). Had just kinda 'dropped' a guy who started to going to my HS my sr year (his jr year) because I was madly crazy in love with him but he just wanted to be friends. I'd tried ALL YEAR to get him to go out with me but he just wouldn't and I was really, really ticked off. Hated all men with a passion. Never wanted to date again. Ever.

So anyway....first day of fall semester, I walk into my Tech Theatre class..one of only 2 girls in a class of about 30 or so. I'm sitting there, doodling on my notebook or something when in through the side door of the theatre walks this guy who might as well of had a big neon sign screaming "GEEK" on his forehead. Wearing a '1-800-be-a-geek' InternetAmerica (???) teeshirt, ragged jeans, shoes that were really far past way gone. Hair was longish and uncombed, hadn't shaved, big black hornrim glasses with coke bottle lenses and to top it off..he was carrying a leather briefcase with a laptop in it. The height of geekdom. I took one look at him and snorted with disgust. What a dork, I thought.
Over the course of about a month, the geek and I got to know each other because we were working on the fall show 'Little Shop of Horrors' together, he on lighting and sound, me as props mistress. We got to talking and eventually exchanged phone numbers. I let him drive me home after the cast party opening night of the show and about a week later we went out. We've been stuck together like glue ever since and on Feb 14, 1999, DH and I were married at 5 pm on a Sunday by the pastor I'd known since I was an infant.

Nice story, TOV. I met Otto when I was working as a cashier at a small town department store. He came in to get candy for a Fireman's Parade he was going to be driving in (they throw candy from the truck for the kids in town). I took one look at those gorgeous green eyes, and I was hooked! He came back 2ce that day to talk to me, invited me to the parade (I had to decline, promised my niece I would take her to a movie) and came back 2 days later to ask me out again.. we have been together ever since. The only times we have been apart is when he has been TDY. I love him SO MUCH and feel incredibly blessed to be his wife! It will be 13 years in November.

Thank you for your stories! I love reading this sort of thing.

Otto's Doll, I know what you mean about green eyes... I'm the biggest sucker for big blue eyes (mine are brown). It's what I noticed first about DH when we met.

I was 17 and he was 19 when we first met. His best friend was marrying my best friend. Yes, they were way too young (she was 18, he was 19). Anyway, he and I haven't dated anyone else since meeting, and we got married when I was 19 and he was 21. (yes, looking back it's one of those "what the heck was I thinking" sort of moments...)

As of this past March, we've been married 16 years, and have two wonderful daughters.

And I've already begun teaching my girls to finish college before getting married. :D

I remember one of the reasons DH waited so long to ask me out was because of my birthday. At the time when we first me, I was only 17 and he was 20. He waited until I turned 18 (about the same time the show was done)to ask me out. :)

We also were together for what seemed like FOREVER before getting married. Two and a half years of dating before getting married. People thought we were nuts for waiting so long and then also nuts for me being so young..I was only 20 when we got married.
