This happens every Easter...

My DD is 18yo, and in all the years she's been around to buy Easter basket stuff for, her dad and I have never learned the lesson that you need to get to the store early to get the good candy! We were at Target tonight doing the Easter basket shopping, and there was not one chocolate bunny left in the whole store. I did get her plenty of chocolate egss of various descriptions, but no bunny to bite the ears off of first

Poor kid - another year with no chocolate bunny.

UH OH. I may be in trouble as well.
I went shopping for all the Easter Basket treats just the other day and I could not find any bunnies. I went to Wal-Mart and just thought maybe they were the only ones out of them.
I guess I better start my search nice and early and hope for the best.

I didn't see that many chocolate bunnies this year like usual. But did find a small selection at the grocery stores.

I didn't notice as many around this year either.
DH always gets a white chocolate bunny. That was more of a challenge this year also...and I start early!

Success! I managed to bag the next to last Dove solid chocolate bunny at my corner CVS this morning, so all is now well with the world (or at least the Easter basket)

My grocery store still has tons of them. At least they did last night. I didn't pick one up though since the sweetpea was with me. Hope they still have some today. And it has to be a milk chocolate bunny. Dark chocolate is yucky and because of a white chocolate issue from years ago (when I was younger I was convinced that white chocolate was racist) I never get white chocolate bunnies. So, they better still have the milk chocolate bunnies at the grocery store. I should head over there now as soon as I brush my teeth.

I just got back from the Target nearest me and they still had plenty of Easter basket goodies left. My kids are all teenagers, but I still make up baskets for them

I was going to do the Godiva ones, but they're so expensive for 2oz! Gotta hit Walgreens later, so I'll be doing the same thing.

Yep!! Doing the same thing here - although we still have lots of chocolate Easter Bunnies in our stores but almost zilch of the other things I wanted. Serves me right for waiting so late I guess. I have to go to Target today to finish out what I didn't get at Meijers and the corner store.

My kids wanted the stuffed Peeps they have out this year - they are a hot commodity! I saw lots of them before - I finally found a few stragglers (after hunting at 2 stores) that I got but my 9 year old is getting a purple bunny one (instead of blue or yellow) because it was either that or pink!

Yeah!!! CVS is where I snagged the stuffed Peeps too - I figured not as many people go there to shop for Easter stuff as the big stores! *Whew* but even their selection was getting rather slim.

We have NO jelly beans. I have bought them 3x but the Easter Bunny has eaten them. Bad, bad Easter Bunny!
Now our Easter Bunny is picky, she just loves Jelly Bellies. Perhaps if she bought something disgusting - like sour jelly beans - there would be some for the baskets.
There were no Jelly Bellies left in my little town center last night. This means a trip to Walmart or Target - UGH!

It's not candy! It's a stuffed animal Peep! They have to be new for this year because I have never seen them before! They have them in the bunny shape & the chick shape...I swear I saw some Blue ones when they first came out but those were no where to be found. I lucked out and found a yellow chick yesterday and then came across another yellow chick today - so am giving those to the boys now. I'll just give the purple one to my niece. Most of the ones I found are that silky/stretchy material they are making a lot of stuffed things out of now. However, I did find a small fuzzy regular type stuffed one in purple bunny shape today - so I bought it because I didn't want to give my 2 year old the silky/stretchy material ones.

We spotted them in March when we were at the grocery store for my DD's birthday so we bought her one along with the 2 girls that were coming over in pink, just for fun. Then my son was upset because *HE* wanted a peep - told him maybe the Easter bunny would get him one. Then spotted them at another store in both the chick & bunny shapes - THEN my DD saw a basket in the shape of one of those (that is LONG gone - didn't see one anywhere but didn't really want to pay the money for that anyway - we are umm....lazy for baskets - I stick all the kids stuff in brown paper bags just so the ones who get up earlier can't see what they have got until ALL the kids get up and they can all open them at the same time).

All I can say is they must be a hot commodity in this area because I saw shelves full of them (in both kinds, so figured I would have plenty of time) and I think there is about 6 left in the whole town.

Hmm...now that I think about it I think her peep is the fuzzy regular stuffed animal type (Must go do some snooping and find out! Maybe I'll just give her the purple bunny stretch/material one! ).

I just got home from Target and there is still a lot of Easter candy at ours...bunnies and all (didn't look that close to see what kinds - just made a mental note to come back to this thread and also with the other Target is Evil thread trying to keep under the cover charge of $100 )

I am over here wondering - Hmmm stuffed with caramel, chocolate, nuts -- what could they possibly be "STUFFING" into a little marshmellow Peep?

They sound darling - Peeps have always looked cute - but never cared for the taste - glad you found some for everyone.

I had to go to 3 stores today looking for plastic eggs. I guess I was on an egg hunt looking for eggs to hide??? I finally found them at Walgreens. They had lots of bunnies left, but no more Cadbury eggs!

I saw a funny picture with a recipe for Peeps s'mores. You cook and squish up the Peep instead of the marshmallow.
