This freezing weather is crampin my style! A Dec 2010 TR

You and Lo remind me of me and my friend Molly. loving the trip report so far!

Subbing my dear amiga and now need to go read! Love your understated makeover btw...Ty is short for Tyra! LOL you are Fierce!!!:goodvibes

Sounds like we're married to similar men: when DS and I went on a cruise 5 years ago I got off the ship all excited to talk to DH because I had missed him so much. He barely talked to me, and I was so upset I was almost in tears the whole flight home. He picks us up and he's black and blue head to toe, ribs wrapped, etc. He had fallen off a second story scaffolding and landed on some metal while we gone and totally wrecked himself, but didn't want to tell me and ruin my vacation!

Subbing because I wish I had a great girlfriend like you do to do a girls only trip! What fun!

Terri

I love your trip report...sitting by my computer laughing. It sounds like you had such a good time, thats what Disney is all about!! I've told my girls that I would love to live in POP Century. I'm not sure if you were serious or not when you mentioned it, but its nice to meet someone who understands the feeling. Can't wait to read more.

Your bus ride with that gaseous phone app sounded hilarious!

Sorry that your leg is swollen again on this trip Ty.

I wish I had a friend like you or Lo to go to WDW with! You guys had too much fun!:rotfl:
We did have tons of fun. I refuse to go to Disney with any Debbie downers or negative Nancys. :lmao: It's about surrounding yourself with postivie people. I'm sure you have some fun friends, convince them to go to WDW, and if that doesn't work, well...I'm always up for a Disney trip. ;)

Thank you. Have Molly and you taken a Disney trip together? fun, fun, fun.

I could be Disney;s next top model!:lmao: I had to tone it down though, people were staring and I;m sure it's because they were super jealous of me.:rolleyes1

I'm gla your DH wasn't hurt worse than what he was, that still sounds pretty horrible though. Yea, he's a good guy for not wanting you to worry. Kent said he didn't want me to worry, but I also think he knew he might get the 3rd degree. "How fast were you going?, where were you going so late?"

Well ya know, we could always plan a Dismeet:confused3. just sayin.

I was completely serious about retiring and living at Pop Century. I know I would never grow tired of that. It would probably kep me young too.

Sorry that your leg is swollen again on this trip Ty.
The gassy phone app was such a fun toy, better than any whoopi cushion.

The leg bothered me the most on the first day but after that it wasn't so bad.

So you are the movie quoter? here's one for ya. My husband quotes this to me all the time.

"Great hunter, yes? Fine figure of a man, yes? That is all you need to know."

So glennbo, if you know what movie that is from, I will award you the bow down smiley.

"Jeremiah Johnson". GREAT movie.

Okay, okay, I'll admit that I didn't recognize the quote right off, but I have mad research skills (smoke-filled basement with a flickering projector). And I have seen the movie.

I woke up that fine December 4th morning excited for the park of the day.
Hollywood Studios. We somewhat had a plan for this day. Toy story mania was on the list, it was at the very top of the list in bold capitol letters. You have to make rope drop in order to guarantee a seat on this A list attraction. I couldn’t stress to Lo enough how important it was for me to ride Toy Story mania. I had missed out on it my last trip. I had to do it this time. HAD TO!!!

So I jumped out of bed and as I was heading to the shower I glimpsed myself in the mirror.

A word from our sponsor
Are you tired of waking up with major bed head? Does your hair have an unwanted, unruly party going on against your will?

Well listen to one of the thousands of people who have also had this problem.

Hello, my name is Ty
mydis071.jpg

and I have dysfunctional hair. My hair knows when it’s traveling out of state and takes on a mind of it’s own. It refuses to shine, and loses it’s body and texture, it’s almost like my hair is depressed. I’ve tried everything, I even went to see a hair whisperer and she told me that my hair was rebelling and aside from maybe doing an exorcism there wasn’t anything she could do to help me. So I have suffered for years. But then I found the secret to making my hair happy.
mydis030.jpg

Yes, Disneyworld shampoo. My hair has been thanking me everyday since I discovered the wonders of travle size Disney shampoo. I am a believer in Disney hotel products and never leave home without it.

So Lo and I got ready for the day. I stepped outside the room to check the weather, it didn’t seem to bad and I figured a light jacket would do just fine.
I was excited for my T-shirt of the day. Lo and I are not about dressing in matching outfits, but for this day and this park it only seemed fitting that we wear our home made Mickey Mouse club T-shirts.
mydis017.jpg

These weren’t just super cute. They were stooooper cute. That’s what we kept telling ourselves the whole time we made them.
mydis018.jpg

I even wore mine to work on Halloween, we are allowed to wear a costume as long as it doesn’t go against our dress code. I wore the shirt and my mouse ears. People kept calling me Minnie Mouse and I would have to correct them and tell them I was a mousekateer.

Oh and these pictures were taken right outside of our room, didn't we have an awesome view? I told ya so.

So in our matching mouseketeer outfits we headed down to the bus stop and not to our surprise there was a line longer than the great wall of China. There wasn’t anything we could do about it but get in line and wait. Rope drop was in half an hour and I could see my ride on Toy Story Mania fast slipping away. With each bus that showed up it took forever to fill because of the ECV’s and such. So I told Lo that we would not be making rope drop and we needed to make sure we were at the bus stop for our next HS park day an hour ahead of rope drop.

Lo, the naive little lady still had hope that we would make it onto TSM that day. “We’ll just FP it.”

“HA! You fool, the FP’s will all be gone by the time we get there, I will wager you my first born on this my friend.”

We made it onto bus 3, it was already a quarter past rope drop. Once we made it into the park it had been opened for almost a half hour.
I needed a few minutes to orient myself with the place again. It had been a while and HS had always confused me a bit.

“Follow me Lo.”

“Should we grab a map?

“No!, I don’t need no stinkin map, a map is for newbies.”

She trusted me, she followed me with happy in her heart and pep in her step, she followed me as I whistled my way through the crowd and right up to the front doors of the….bathrooms? Wait I must have made a wrong turn somewhere, this is supposed to take us right down Mickey Avenue.

I saved face and told her I knew right where I was and I needed to potty.

Then after our short break we headed back out and yes, here is where I went wrong, I needed to turn left at the little mermaid.

Lo saw the little mermaid and told me she hadn’t gone on that on her trip. So I completely gave up the idea of TSM for that day and we went in to watch the fish out of water.

Was I heart broken about not riding TSM? Not really, I had 1 more day planned at HS, and it would be my birthday too, so no worries.

We held back a bit when entering the theater, I already explained my theory on that. it’s a hold true theory ya know. It worked every time. We had great seats in the dead center of the place.

“I like this, I need popcorn.”

The lights dimmed, the music played and Lo and I were tapped on the shoulder.

“Excuse me, would you mind removing your ears, they are right in my view.”

We could not apologize enough for that. Most of the time I am aware of things on my head, but my mouse ears just meld into me and I forget. So I took them off and watched the rest of the show without incident.

I can’t be 100% certain, but did they make some changes to the show? it seemed a little different than the last time I had been. You know what would be a good change and I wish they could add it to the show? The boat scene in the Lagoon, where Sebastian sings Kiss the girl. That is my favorite Little mermaid scene in the whole movie.

“Sometimes if you want some ting done right, you have to do eet yourself”

When the show was over we walked back out into the sunshine and I quickly reapplied my ears to my head. "There, now I feel normal again."

We went out to the big wizard hat and I posed for the 'I have to get my picture in front of the big hat' picture. It's tradition, just like getting your picture in front of the castle, the Epcot Ball and the Tree of Life.
mydis019.jpg

See my jacket? it's not really my jacket, that was the jacket that Jingles had leant me for the trip. It was perfect for the day. I think that was the warmest of all the days we were there.
Oh and Jingles got me a jacket for Christmas almost like the one he leant me for my trip, the colors are different, but I was all excited when I opened my present from him. "Yay a Jingles like jacket, now I have two."

He said he was hoping to get his back and I said as soon as Marzi returns my jacket from last year, I will return your jacket. That's all I can do:confused3

Just kidding, I gave it back to him, but he left it here, so it's in my closet again. And I still wear it.

OK, so picture done we thought we should go on Tower of Terror. Lo had to sit that one out on her last trip, so she was really itchin to go on it. We started our journey down Sunset Blvd to the terror hotel when a shop caught the eye of Lo. She was looking for a Fancy kind of high end looking Disney shirt for her Birthday at MK. This shop had the look that she was looking for. So we stepped into it and began the browsing, not just using our eyes, but our fingers too, when you shop for real, you have to pick up the merchandise and make the old lady face at it, the squinty eye thing, then you have to look at the price and then walk around holding the item asking yourself, should I? then talk yourself into it. "I should, I need it, it's perfect."

She had found the cutest shirt, it wasn't your everyday Disney shirt either, it screamed I am Disney...but with expensive taste. You'll get to see her shirt on the MK birthday post. Sorry I can't show it to you now, that would be going out of order and could possibly send the earth spinning off it's axis and I just can't live with that kind of guilt.

While in line we saw that they had the blanket my mom wanted, so I gave Lo the money to purchases the "special" blanket. We didn't have the stuff sent to our resort, she would be needing it the next morning, so we had it sent to the front of the park to pick up at the end of our day.

As I turned around to leave I ran right smack into a lady and wow, here she was a mother of one of the cheerleaders I had coached years before.

"Hey Heather, of all the places to bump into you."

She was in WDW for the parade, her daughter was with the NCA cheerleaders, then I saw Lexi and I congratulated her on her cheerleading promotion.

Lo and I left the store talking about how wierd it is to run into people you know from home while on Vacation. I told her how once when I was in 3rd grade, my family was living in Germany and we took a trip to Holland, we ran into our old neighbor from Texas riding a bike down the cobble stone rd. So wierder things have happened.

We got in line for ToT. I had never had a wait like that for ToT before. I could not figure out why the line was so long. We waited 20 minutes. it seemed to go fast. We talked alot, we always talk alot. Time flies when we talk so much. Lo facebooked alot too.

I don't really get the whole constant updating the facebook thing. I post every few weeks when I have something important to say or when I have to go in and do damage control because my son Jimmy knows my password. "no there aren't really any dead bodies accumulating and stinking up my bedroom." I suppose I should change my password.. But updating with, "buying a soda." and "In line for Tower of Terror." C'mon. I guess I'm just not a facebook junkie.

Once we got inside the hotel the wait went by even faster, there's so much to look at. Lo pointed out that the hotel had the same carpeting that I had in my kitchen. I told her the hotel was from the 20's and she said, "So is the carpet in your kitchen."

I will post comparison pictures later, just remind me, K?

The library wasn't packed full, we still had some elbow room while we watched the story of that fateful night and the lost guests. We then went into the boiler room.

1, 2, Freddy's comin for you.
3, 4, better lock the door.
5, 6, grab your crucifix.
7, 8, better stay up late.
9, 10, never sleep again.

This place always reminds of the Nightmare on Elm st. movies. The first one scared the bajeebees out of me, but the rest are meh.

We chose to go to the middle line. We were behind the make out couple of the year. :lmao: Lo and I stared, we stared hard, we inched closer for a better look just hoping they would take a break and not do that so much or so intently. It made the teenage girls behind us laugh when we started in with commentary.

"We should take notes."

"They are breathing right?"

"How do they know to move forward in line when their faces are locked together, how can they see anything?

"Hope they have alot of chap stick."

They finally broke for intermission, but they stared longingly into eachothers eyes.

"sshhh, Lo, I think one of them is about to break out in song."

But they didn't sing, they went in for round two of tonsil hockey.

One of the southern girls behind us said, "Ah don't think ah will eva find somebody to kiss lawk that."

I love a southern accent and asked where she was from.

Tennessee is where she came from. We got into the discussion of how we each pronounce things, is it peekin, or pecawn. (obvioulsy discussing how to say pecan) she was a funny girl.

Lo and I were seated behind the teen girls, this was there first ever ride on ToT so as soon as the lights went out we grabbed their shoulders and screamed. They jumped and screamed too.

Once the elevator started moving upwards Lo got the nervous giggles, by the end of the ride she was laughing so hard she was crying. She loved ToT and clapped when it was over. "Oh we have got to do that again."

As we were leaving the teen girls were saying to eachother how much fun it was, but it was the "old ladies." that made it the most fun:scared1:

They couldn't be talking about us could they?:confused3

Hey Ty! Just found your new trip report. I'm a Ty addict. I haven't logged onto the Dis forever, but then reminded myself that you would have a trip report soon so I had to check.

I've been in a Disney rut since our September trip was less than magical. My teenage step-daughter made our lives a living nightmare. We were actually glad to be leaving. There were fun times...but they were riddled with "stop laying on the ground", "knock it off with the attitude", "we go home in a few days, you can make it until then". Love the child, not a good traveler. We've actually decided to go to Cancun on our next big vacation, need a Disney break (mainly for my husband's sake), lol.

Glad that you had a good trip and so happy that you and Lo finally got your trip together!

Love the Mickey Mouse Club shirts!
What a fabulous make-over! My hair does just the opposite when in Disney, it lays down flat to my head and won't get up again. Thus I always get a perm before I go and then let it run wild.

I'm wondering, with the line so long it would make you miss RD, why didn't you drive that cute little bug to the park?:confused3

So glad that Lo loved TOT! I have a love/hate relationship with that one.

Looking forward to more adventures in Wonderland!

:rotfl2: Loved the infomercial.

You did have a great room location. :thumbsup2

What?! "Old ladies?" You shoulda smacked 'em upside the head.

Love the infomercial! Hilarious!
Just doing my part ya know, if I can help even just one person with disfunctional hair....:lmao:

Thank you so much, I don't think I've ever had anyybody addicted to me before, I'm going to hold my head a little higher now.

I'm sorry your Sept trip wasn't all magic all the time. I hope your Cancun trip is everything you need it to be plus more. Cancun does sound like fun. I think if I were to go anywhere else other than Disney it would be Alaska. I know right! COuld I go any more opposite than Disney? But some day Kent and I will do Alaska.

Love the Mickey Mouse Club shirts!

The Mickey Mouse club shirt was one of my favorites that I wore, we got quite a few comments on them.

My hair always gives me problem in florida, when I go to Michigan I have the best hair, I'm thinking it's the water. I considered just getting a perm and letting my hair do it's own thing on the trip I get so tired of the morning wash, blow dry and curl routine, but my hair gets so big when it's permed.

I'm wondering, with the line so long it would make you miss RD, why didn't you drive that cute little bug to the park?:confused3
We didn't have the cute bug, that was Maroo, we relied on nothing but the DIsney transportation, a car would have been nice though, we said that quite a few times.
So glad that Lo loved TOT! I have a love/hate relationship with that one.

Lo was quite a nut case on ToT, she is on every thrill ride though, I wish I could have recorded her nervous giggles.
:rotfl2: Loved the infomercial.

What?! "Old ladies?" You shoulda smacked 'em upside the head.

By the we figured out that the teens were talking about us and the shock had worn off, they were long gone. I doubt I would have slapped them though, I would have scared them far worse by telling them all the things they had to look forward to but they could only be so lucky as to age as gracefully as me.:rolleyes1

Don't stop, I am having a blast reading your TR! We leave in 13 days for a very long car ride to the World! Everyone at work makes fun of me because I would sing "the hippo for christmas" song all the time during Dec. and into Jan. so I must be the only dork that loves that song! My two little girls have many matching shirts for our trip but my oldest is too cool, so I have convinced her to get a Disney manicure with me b4 we leave, she has agreed. My best friend since 4th grade and her family are traveling to the World the same time we will be there and we are trying to meet up at some point with no kids and laugh and talk and talk like Chewbacca and be the "old ladies" on the TOT! :scared1:

Draaa mwaaaah. Of course you understand that right?:lmao:

Gosh I am so excited for you and your trip, I hope you have great weather and I really hope you and your friend get to meet up for some old lady time.;)
Did you and your BF plan to go at the same time or did it just happen that way?
And a Disney manicure? Awesome! that's just as cool as matching Disney shirts.

I will try and update tomorrow, I have to work though, it's what keeps me in disney trips. and speaking of....

I booked my next trip today:banana::banana:

It's a ways off so I will keep writing this here TR and my sister wants to start a PTR real soon so the DIs is going to keep me alive until my next trip.

Are you going to write a TR?:flower3: This flower is a bribe ya know.

I was looking through my old photbucket account and found this. It was the first picture I took inside the MK on my very first visit to WDW. I was a bit more round back then, but wow, how one picture can pull up so many memories. When I first started planning my first WDW vacation, booked 3 months out and using no computer I really thought that once I visited WDW I would be happy and be done and moving on to the next great thing, but I remembered walking into MK that day and thinking, this is it, it doesn't get any better than Disney, I was bit and by the bug and from that moment on a die hard Disney fan. It's always the same place I go, but the trip is always different, there's always something new to see, or even the same thing to see but experience it in a different way. So moving on with my current TR now.

Us old ladies left ToT, not the least bit tired and feeling very young!!!!!

We Were ready for lunch and Toy Story Pizza planet was the first eatery on our list for the day. I love this place, I didn't discover it until my second WDW trip but I have been hooked ever since.

On the way I decided to go by way of Mickey AVE just to see if maybe, possibley there would be any FP for TSM. and again, I made the mistake of going straight instead of turning left at the mermaid. We found ourselves outside of the animators studio. I asked Lo if her tummy could hold off a few minutes longer to go draw a picture, and she was all for it. She is an artist so I knew she would love this.

We skipped the little show before the class, it was her idea, not mine, I love that show, but Lo was ready to get her draw on.

We were the last two let in for the class, we had a 0 wait time. We took our seats in the last row. I got all ready for the class, made sure I had a sharp enough pencil, placed my paper on the two little bar holdy things. I was a total professional. I had done this before, I was arrogant in my confidance of being able to draw anything Disney threw my way, just as long as they walked me through it step by step.

This art teacher tossed us a little curve ball, she decided to keep what we were drawing a secret at first. she told us to draw an oval. An oval you say?:snooty: I can draw an oval, I was so secure in my oval drawing abilities that I didn't even need to look up at her screen to copy her oval. I just ovaled away, starting out with a light hand and once I was happy with my oval darkening it in. I'm sooooo gooood!

Then she said to draw a line down the center of the oval, and then crossway as well. Yup I know exactly what I am doing. Still not looking up at her "example"

I was starting to get exicted for what we were drawing, what character could this be? Then she said to draw 3 little circles "like this." I didn't need to see her sample of 3 circles, I knew how to draw circles, but I still had to look up for the placement of said circles and that is when I discovered that I had drawn my oval vertically instead of horizontally.

She then asked the class, "Do you know what we are drawing now?"

All kinds of answers flew, "Aliens." "The Alien from Toy Story"

I looked at Lo. "I just drew an egg." I told her:confused:

I thought Lo would be sympathetic, normally she is, but she looked at me like I was stupid, how can you get this wrong, the answers were right infront of you on that big glowing board.

I quickly flipped my page over and tried to start again but I was so frazzled in trying to play catchup that it never truly looked like the alien. It looked more like a cactus.

At the end of the class when the teacher walked around looking at everybodys drawings, she loved Lo's and showed it to the rest of the class. I didn't let her see mine at all, I acted like I was still busy cleaning it up and was practically laying on the table hiding it with my body.

I know that you are to never throw away a "free Disney Souvenir" but I just don't want to be reminded of my stupidity. this is the last I will ever speak of it. EVER!:snooty:

We left the class with Lo admiring her art work and me... I was robbed! I demanded we go back in....as soon as we finish lunch.

We head down Mickey Ave. and sure enough no FP were available. The standby was almost at 2 hours. No worries, we had a 2nd HS day planned anyway.

Lo had gotten thirsty so she stopped and got herself a Gigantuous bottle of coke, she took 2 sips and then set it down in the middle of the street. I mean how rude is that?
mydis020.jpg

I even took a picture of her doing this horrible act, just incase DIsney wants to bring her up on litering charges, I will submit this piture as exhibit A. I;ve done my part to keep America beautiful.

That was a great update, Ty! I can so relate to your Anim. St. experience! No erasers? I mean, what's up with that??!!

OMG! Your hair picture is SO funny! But the infomercial is WAY funnier!

Too bad you didn't get to TSM! Those darn other guests cramping your style!

Whoo-hoo!!! Congrats on the next trip!!! :cool1:

Thank you, I'm stoooper excited! :cool1:

I know, I could have erased the decorations that Lo added to my egg!

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
I wish I could say that I was not only the president of Disney shampoo, I'm also a client, but that would be bragging..eerr, I mean a lie.
Too bad you didn't get to TSM! Those darn other guests cramping your style!
