Amazing!! I love surprising people. The room is SO cool!

.

OMG, your room is amazing! I can't believe what a good job you did. The "there is no place like home" what exactly is that? It looks like the words are a part of the walls.
It was actually letters I cut out of my Cricut last spring. I found some brushed gold paper and used some vibrant green and layered them. Give me a minute to find the original pictures I took with my phone. We were going to use red, but it looked more like a circus big top than high class lettering! :rotfl:

Characters we hung on the vanity mirrors

I had an Alice that we were going to use but I just didn't like how she came out. Her eyes were too creepy.

The Tink character came together much nicer, so we swapped her out. Funny how it ended up the two most insignificant characters that turned out to be park icons ended up being our choices for the wall. Walt was encouraged to use the two as main icons for Disneyland because they were small. If Walt used Mickey and people hated Disneyland, well, they were in trouble. His council figured if he used small characters that were main characters and the park failed, they wouldn't be damaged as bad.

PS - we affixed all that stuff with sticky tack so we wouldn't damage the walls. We hung the ribbon on the door with command strips.

I remember you made things with your Cricut... and knew they turned out nice... but HOLY COW they look even better in the room as decorations!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, we were pretty happy and proud with how it all turned out. We didn't even put everything up because of our time crunch. The room was supposed to have light on the patio and doors, never put them up :( and sadly like an idiot the ipod I had playing in the room with Christmas music was not set on loop so when my mom finally saw the room it was quiet :sad1: So in the end it did not go as planned. then no music part though really bummed me out since I know how much more special it would have made it for her.

OK, I'm finally all caught up! Kind of bad to be behind after only 6 pages, but that's just my life lately.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the room decorations! :lovestruc

You did great with that Cricut! The Storybook cartridge has always been my favorite font!

What an awful start you had. I sure hope things picked up soon!

Can't wait to start comparing notes. But wait..... if you arrived on the 11th...... then I guess you're not homefree. As I recall, Mother Nature had a curve ball for you later that nght.

usnuz... I just looked at your ticker....

It says "Gas Bound"

Part of Daisy is covering the V and E!

:rotfl2:

Leave it to you to notice something like that! :lmao:

Your room decorating looked amazing and it didnt take that long to do it. How fun to have xmas in WDW. Our only trip there was in Dec and it was so awesome.! Cant wait to read some more.

I love that you know EXACTLY what cartie font I used... STEP AWAY FROM THE CRICUT!!!

:lmao:

Guess who picked up the Toy Story cartridge on clearance today. :teeth:

And per the weather... WAIT FOR IT!!! WAIT FOR IT!!!

Leave it to you to notice something like that! :lmao:
It's like those GasX commercials where the people only hear the flatulence words... it just kinda stuck out! :rolleyes1

We were officially over 2 ½ hours late to our ADR at San Angel and the hostess was so wonderful when I got there looking completely disheveled. We told MB that Bell Services lost her bag but that they found it after it fell off the cart their suitcases were on and got buried under a group of bags, but long story (and almost 2 hours later…) they found it and we were on our way!

I was overwhelmed with the inside of the pavilion. I had been through before but NEVER paid attention to anything besides the path between the door and the Gran Fiesta Tour…

We viewed this:

It was so pretty inside!

We all decided that drinks were in order and being in Mexico, what else would we order besides margaritas?
IMG_7879-01.jpg

That one is Erica’s. I ordered the avocado margarita and it was a taste that I found to be quite nice. It wasn’t like anything I’d ever had before - very creamy and smooth. The sugar rim (which I never take – I’m a salt rim kind of girl) was a pleasant addition to the beverage. It's infused with Hibiscus and very smooth.

We ate really well. I ordered a modified version of the Pollo a las Rajas and it was divine! I’m allergic to MSG, black pepper, and salmon, so everything I eat in the World is a modified version of itself. I was over the moon to find out that I could have the poblano rice that accompanied the chicken. It was tasty and really made the dish.

I ate too much – I figured I could spare a few calories since I’d worked my butt off (literally) and lost 24 lbs before the trip.

To my surprise, our waitress came to our table with a huge entourage and this – a gluten free birthday cake decked out in my favorite attraction, the Enchanted Tiki Room!

After a rousing chorus of Feliz Cumpleaños we dug in.
IMG_7881-01.jpg

I’ve never had gluten free anything (on purpose) and I didn’t think the cake was that bad. I was told that it wasn’t the greatest and I just went with it. Who am I to judge when I have nothing to compare it to? :confused3

MB presented me with a little gift as well since we were celebrating my birthday (that was officially 5 days prior to our arrival at WDW). It was a pin!

and E gave me my Happy Birthday button from the Disney parks.

Now I understood why she wasn’t having any part of me skipping lunch.

It’s spring break and I had to get the kids out of the house. We met up with some friends of ours at the zoo and had a busy day.

I’m just going to post pictures and not write much. Enjoy!

The penguin exhibit is cool. Under the floor is a connecting pool to the other side of the exhibit behind us. You can watch the penguins swim under your feet to the other side.

I love that you know EXACTLY what cartie font I used... STEP AWAY FROM THE CRICUT!!!

:lmao:

I actually haven't used cricut cartridges in a while. I got Make the Cut software last year just as it was ending support for Cricut. And ..... I'm in scrapbook heaven cutting any font from my computer. I do recall being VERY frustrated with the lack of variety in font cartridges...... but Storybook..... I LOVED. Now I just don't have the patience for using the cartridges.

Lovely shots at the zoo! I really wish we had a decent zoo. I'm thinking of a drive across the state to St. Louis to a REAL zoo... and your shots are motivating me.

What a totally awesome cake! :dance3: I'm SO glad they didn't let you skip dinner!

It was a fantastic LOOKING cake, but tasted like CARDBOARD! It was the worst gluten-free item I have ever tasted. The only reason I got it gluten-free was I am gluten intolerant, I should have just got a regular cake so they could have enjoyed it ::sigh:: I have had better results with Betty rocker out of the box cake then what the Beach Club Bakery made for us YUCK!

On a side note it is really creepy and weird how much Trevor looks like Chris, it's freaking me out a little

Birthday celebration looks fun.... good thing you didn't miss it. ;) Too bad the cake didn't taste as pretty as it looked. Avocado margarita... I will have to put that on my wish list for next trip. Sounds good!

Zoo pictures are great! Your kids are super cute. Your dd has amazing eyes!!!

I can see that. A friend of mine has been doing a lot of that on her computer too. She's trying to turn me to the dark side. I actually printed off about 120 pictures today because I'm so far behind in scrapping. :sad2: Maybe now that I have prints, I'll do something.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Our zoo is little, but it's well put together. I didn't even shoot as much as I would have liked. We had 6 kids in tow and it made for a long day. I barely got anything from the dolphin show, 1) due to poor lighting and 2) the kids insisted on sitting in the front row.

The got SOAKED! :lmao:

Me too. And I tried hard. I know better than to argue with E though. ;)

I'm eagerly awaiting your wedding cake for a direct comparison. :dance3:

I know... I'm still waiting on the DNA test to prove he's mine... :scared:

The avocado margarita didn't have the bite of a regular 'rita. It was very smooth and creamy. I'm serious though... that sugar rim really makes a difference!

Zoo pictures are great! Your kids are super cute. Your dd has amazing eyes!!!
Thanks!

I can't take any claim to her either.

I swear, neither of my kids are mine. :upsidedow

The cake looks really good, I havent tried anything gluten free, so I guess I would have to try it before making a statement.:rolleyes1. Glad they made you eat dinner. Wow that shark sure has the evil eye  I dont think I would stick my hand in there.:lmao:

Thanks for sharing the zoo pictures and your kids looked like they had a good time on the carasouel.

As soon as they wheeled a dolly over to lift my gut out off the bench seat, we headed towards the door. We saw Mexican Donald so I dug out my autograph book and got in line for our first official character greeting of the trip!

I was seriously sucking my gut in for this… I was SO FULL after dinner!

We climbed up the ramp and saw a large number of people crowded in the doorway. We ventured a little further to find it POURING rain outside and everyone was running for cover!

I pulled up the radar on my phone to see how big the cell was and true to any other Florida rain storm, it would be over soon. Since we had a few minutes to kill, we decided to head back inside of the pavilion and visit Donald, Panchito, and Jose.

We left Mexico and headed over to the Land pavilion. I believe we rode Soarin’… how sad is that I can’t officially remember… :sad2: But we obviously took a night spin on Living with the Land and it was different to see it at night!

Then we pressed on to SE:

I’m going to take a post-break here. It was starting to go long so until next time!

I have never rode Living with the Land at night! How cool. And with the holiday decs... I bet it was even better!!

LWTL is one of my all-time favorites - even way back in the day when parts of it were still contained in plastic wrap.

It was different in that main room, with no sun, and also the room with the fish & shrimp & gators - the red lights are turned off. :goodvibes:
