July 12 - Tom Sawyer's Island

Question of the Day - July 12
While we're relaxing on Tom Sawyer's Island, let's take a moment to reflect and really dig deep.
We're about
1/3 of the way through the month.... be honest with yourself.

Are you sticking to your plan and seeing the results you want?
If you're unhappy with your results - what are you going to change for the next week?
If you're happy with your results, are you going to push a little harder or just stick to what is working?

Bonus question: Does anyone actually do Tom Sawyer's Island? Share a fun story of a time you spent there!

Yes, I am sticking with my plan, but I've tried incorporating a few more carbs than usual...(like rice and bananas)... hope that doesn't come back to bite me in the butt. I CANNOT believe that July is 1/3 done! YIKES! I am NOT where I wanted to be... especially with a road trip, two birthdays, and a week-long vacation on the horizon!

Changes?? Hmmmm.... I know I could exercise more, but honestly, I'm barely keeping my head above water as it is, with real life. Not sure I am ready to give up sleep or work for exercise..... but maybe I could give up Facebook time. If I can find 15 minutes a day for that, I suppose I could find 15 minutes for a walk/run.

I've only ever been on TSI once... in 1974!:rotfl2:

July 13 -- woohoo wednesday!

It's everyone's favorite day: WOOHOO WEDNESDAY!

While we take the rafts back from Tom Sawyer's Island, take a moment to share something worth celebrating.
No celebration is too big or too small. Brag brag brag - it's your time to shine.
It can be about ANYTHING - an accomplishment at work, your health, winning the lottery, etc.

What are you celebrating today?

My woohoo for today..... when I went to visit DD this past weekend, we ate in and ate ON PLAN for the entire visit! We did NOT go visit our favorite cafe.... and while I missed it, we had fun, saved money, and stuck solidly with our SmartPoints!

I also had 30 members in my WW meeting last night (that is a good number for my small rural meeting).... that did NOT include a bunch of "regulars" that are away on vacation and it DID include three newbies!! WOOHOO for a growing meeting!

******************

Good morning friends! I've been working online for a few hours now but it is time to get to the day job! I will try to pop on tonight after work and running and errand. I love the idea that someone else mentioned about getting the Pokemon craze to get their DS walking.... I may offer a "fun run/walk" to DS tonight if he comes on my errand with me.... we can go to a local park and/or mall and walk while he looks for... whatever it is you look for in that game... Pokes???

I wanted to sear the roast before I put it in the crockpot so I must dash!.....................P

July 12 - Tom Sawyer's Island

Tom Sawyer's island - or the Pirates Lair as it's now called (?!) - is located across the way from the Haunted
Mansion. The rafts to travel to the island are located next to the HM and can hold about 20 guests.
The ride has been rethemed to Pirates and I haven't done it since it's been rethemed - so I can't give you
too many details about its current iteration. But the Tom Sawyer attraction featured fun rope bridges,
caves to hide and explore through, and lots of places to relax in the shade on a hot day.

In short - it's a great area to take your kids to run off that extra energy and for you to sit down :)

I can't believe that I missed coming on here yesterday. We spent the day at a lovely zoo that is about an hour and a half away from the house. Dh wasn't feeling well so I ended up driving both ways. It was a great day and we had a fun time but by the time we got home I wanted to do some sewing and I never made it to the computer.

I have been sticking to my plan except for missing coming on here yesterday (I was at 100% so far this month until yesterday). I have been walking a lot more as the month has gone on. So much so that my foot is bothering me if I am barefoot. I need to get dressed and get some sturdy sandals on my feet.

When the boys were younger they loved to run around on Tom Sawyer Island. We haven't been there for years

WOW Dumbo and storm troopers all in one shot. How much better could it be. I always loved riding Dumbo with my sons. I miss sitting with a little one and riding.

I guess my woohoo Wednesday is that it is now less than a month until ds1 gets married. Also we are very close to closing on my mother in laws house. It should happen in the next week. We never thought it would move this fast even though my sister in law is buying it. Send pixie dust to make sure it goes smoothly this week.

Off to shower and get the day started.

Have a happy and healthy day.

I am not feeling very woohoo today. Work has been very stressful and I am very frustrated with a situation that is going on. They hired a person back in November because we have grown and I can't get it all done on my own anymore. With the RNC next week here most people are taking PTO including this person. I am really the only one working next week (thankfully from home). The renewal paperwork that is coming in is her responsibility this summer and nothing is getting done. Twice now my boss has said that i will get it done. Putting all of the work on me again this summer. There is not really anything I can do but to get as much done as I can and as quickly as I can. This person even said in a meeting with my boss "you did all of it on your own last year". I just need to bite my tongue and deal with it for right now.

I also go some not so good news late last night. My grandfather is going into an assisted living home this week. 2 months ago he was going pretty good but is quickly declining. We I saw him on the 4th he couldn't even remember where he was ate. Since my grandma had to go into a nursing home about 4 years ago because of her Alzheimer's he has been on his own other then family coming over to visit. My mom is one 5 siblings so someone was over there at least 5 days and my one Aunt lives right next door. However he would never go out and do anything. My mom is hoping that having other people around he will improve. I hope this happens. Being almost 37 and having all of biological grandparents has been great. Last night was a realization that they are getting older and won't be around for ever. With my grandma having Alzheimers for at least 20 years we knew what to expect and things have moved very slowly. I know we don't have long with her now since she is at the end stage of it but things are moving just a little to quickly with my grandfather.

I will through out a woohoo, I have gotten my steps in everyday and I have lost almost 2 pounds in about a week or so.

I am sorry to hear what you are going through at work. I really do not like it when people take advantage of other people.

I am also sorry to hear about your grandfather. I was 42 when my maternal grandmother died. Both my boys knew their great grandmother. In the last 2 years they have lost 1 grandmother and 2 grandfathers. It is very mixed emotions since ds1 is getting married next month and only one grandparent is left. We are right now getting pictures together to honor his grandparents that he has lost.

What are you celebrating today?

I got in over 25,000 steps on Sunday. I ran in the morning, then we went to Costco, then my dad and I went to a museum and wandered the World's Fair site. Over 25,000 steps, and I wasn't even too exhausted at the end of the day!
Nothing else too exciting ... but one WooHoo is better than nothing!

I'm coming to the realization that summer is almost over. We have football camp starting next week for 2 weeks. Then we leave for the beach for a week only to come back to football practice starting. Where did the summer go?

I woke up this morning 1 lb down from yesterday on my official weigh-in. I guess that run in the heat wasn't so bad after all.

My woohoo for today is after I weighed-in I ran 6 miles on the treadmill this morning and weighed myself again after - 220 right on the nose. 100 lbs down - even if it doesn't officially count because it was after my run, it's still pretty nice to finally hit my goal. Now, hopefully I can hold on and weigh 220 for my "official" morning weigh-in tomorrow.

I just had my first running experience in heat - ugh!

The real feel temp was 95 and normally I would just run downstairs on the treadmill, but my son had friends over and they were all down there, so I had the brilliant idea to run outside. Felt great the first mile, not so much mile two, felt like death mile three.

I'm retiring from running in 90 degree weather.

Good look this weekend. Hoping for at minimum a cool morning for you - and just a slight breeze!

I despise running in the heat! If its 90 or above I try to stick to the treadmill!

Yuck -- this does not sound like fun.

We've invested in "Cooling Towels" that we'll be keeping on us during the race. Dampen with water and you wear them so that you feel cooler as you go. If they work great I'll send along the amazon link - remind me when I get back :)

I've been looking into getting a cooling towel! I'd love to hear your thoughts after you use it!

My Woo Hoo: I got a workout in on Monday and a run last night! Just in case I can't squeeze anything in tonight, I'm going to take a nice walk on my lunch break to at least get some steps in.

I'm obsessively checking the weather for the race this weekend --- and it's like playing the Hunger Games: May the odds be ever in your favor. So far odds look good and the weather is cooling off with possible thunder showers - come on, no heat! So that is a little "woohoo" for today.

Also - I am having a lot of fun playing Pokemon Go that my steps are above and beyond this week. So if you want a fun way to get extra steps, play Pokemon Go.

Yet another thing I've never done at Disneyland ...

All the more motivation to do things :P We'll get to things you've done soon. I hope :)

My Woohoo Wednesday: hmmmm .... there is only 2 days until the weekend? I am really struggling to think of something big or small.

Some weeks are like that. Others you're bursting at the seams with lots of good news.

Pokemon. Parks are great locations because they're filled with them. I went walking last night for an hour and caught some pretty good things. :)

YAY wedding. Yay house. Pixie dust ~ pixie dust!

You got this. Stay positive. :D

Woohoo! I'm not super woohooy this week but I do have some celebrations:
- First yoga class in a long time this week and I remembered why I like it.
- Got some new shoes today and am excited to go walking around tonight looking for Pokemon :rotfl:

My Woohoo for this Wednesday is I bought a Star Wars premiere shirt at the premiere party at WDW back in December and they didn't have my size so I got a smaller size hoping I would fit into it one day, well I decided to try to wear it this week and it fit!

Are you sticking to your plan and seeing the results you want?
If you're unhappy with your results - what are you going to change for the next week?
If you're happy with your results, are you going to push a little harder or just stick to what is working?

I am sticking to my plan:) I started the diet one week ago yesterday and I am losing a good amount of weight. Although when I went to my weigh-in yesterday, the nurse was a little disappointed that I had not lost more. BUT I was so excited bc I am tried other diet before and didn't lose any weight, so my 4lbs for the week was awesome to me.

I am going to be a little more strict with the carbs though. I am eating a few legumes and I had some corn a couple of times last week...and I know they do affect your daily carb intake, so I will try and not do that this week and see if it makes a huge difference.

I eat a lot of salad and I absolutely hate diet salad dressing...so...I just use one tablespoon of the real vinaigrette. I figure 4 carbs isn't a lot...UNTIL the nurse reminded me that I might as well have ate a tsp full of sugar! LOL

I am feeling a bit better. Still very emotional. I did go for a walk outside for lunch in the newly finished square (they redid it). It was 4 squares with 2 streets that separated them. Now it is one big square with lots of grassy areas, trees for shade and a splash pad. It looks really nice. I might have to eat lunch out there one day. I had a chance to clear my head a little bit. I was playing Pokemon go. I started playing last night since the rest of the family is playing. I am lucky. I sit on 2 Poke` stops while sitting at my desk. I think the game will force me to get up and walk at lunch instead of being on the computer.

Can I woohoo again because I really need a place to share this....

We finally decided on a hotel for Princess race weekend and we decided on the Coronado Springs, and staying in a Business Class room. King room, robes, blu-ray player, access to all you can eat/drink, etc.

We won't have park tickets for this trip so it's a 100% stay at the hotel or sneak off to Disney Springs for food type of weekend. So we opted to splurge and we're asking for movies for Christmas so we can sit in the room after the races and munch on Goldfish crackers while wearing bathrobes in bed. :P

Fun!!! We did this one year for a conference bc we got a great rate. The sangria is delish! You had to ask for it because it wasn't sitting out, but worth it if that's your thing!

Anyway so excited for you! It's so pretty too -- DH and I snuggled up on the hammocks and just looked at the lake while drinking coffee from the lounge in the mornings. You shouldn't miss the park too much there :-)

It really will be great. Good room, perfect theme for race. Hoping the weather cooperates.

D's and fiance are staying at Coronado springs for their honeymoon. We have been looking at pictures and it is a really beautiful resort.

It just is. I don't know why we didn't consider it before but it doesn't even look like a Disney property. I love it.

I need to find these magical hammocks. It sounds like a great way to relax with a good book. Ooh... I should add a book or two to my wish list. I'm weird in that I like actual books and not reading on an iPad.

Yea! Woo-hoo Wednesday! This week my celebration has NOTHING to do with health/exercise/weightloss, etc. I'm excited because we are "this close" to buying a new car!

I have spent the better part of a week test driving, getting preapproved for financing and going to several places to get our current car appraised for trade in. I think we've got a deal negotiated (hate that part), but they don't have our "perfect" car in stock.

Our first choice was a darker gray color with gray interior. They've got dark gray with black interior in stock, and they've got a silver one (second choice for exterior color along with black) arriving with gray interior later this week or early next week.

Unfortunately because we are buying a 2016 and the 2017's are already in production and arriving in dealerships - they don't think they are manufacturing any more 2016's, and we don't think we can get the dark gray with gray interior at all. Such a bummer!

We are going to head over on Saturday and look at what they have and decide which is more important - the outside or the inside. My guess is we will end up with the dark gray with black interior because it's my husband's car, but I'm the one with the hang up about how hot a car with black interior gets. He's not as worried as I am, and since it is going to be primarily his car, if he wants to sweat it out for 15 minutes on the way home from work because his dark colored car with dark interior has been sitting in the hot sun all day, then that's his choice, I guess!

Either way, my nostrils will soon be filled with that awesome new car smell! Can't wait!
