This could very well be my last morning..

Sending good vibes your way, C. Ann!!

Do ya suppose they killed each other? C.Ann can Dis from the lake..but I haven't seen a single post from her since they started the smoke out LOL!

What state is the lake house in????....maybe we should all watch our local newspapers....by Sunday we should see something....especially if they've killed each other!!
I'm sure they'll do just fine!

C Ann.
I quit cold turkey too. The only way I was able to do it. The thing that most bothered me about quitting was the actual THOUGHT that I could NEVER have another cig. So, I put that out of my mind and truly said "I will not smoke TODAY". THen the next day I said the same thing and the next and then next. pretty soon I knew I could make it. I chewed gum and ate starburst candies. The sour helped me more than sweet. I kept my hands busy. It took me about three weeks to get over the intense cravings (damn long time!). I was a bear to live with during that time too, but my DH wanted me to quit so he put up with me!
My mother just quit 4 months ago after 50 years of smoking. she did it cold turkey too. Just made up her mind to do it and did (her health was getting bad so she really needed to). She said after the first week she knew she would make it.
Best of luck to both of you. You will feel so much better and the $$$ can take you back to WDW!!!!!! And you will smell better too :)

Take care.

I'm with Snoopy. Cold turkey was the most successful for me but the first 2 days were REALLY hard. I would be in the car going to pick up my daughter from soccer when I'd come to an intersection knowing that if I turned left I would go to the gas station to buy cigarettes and if I turned right I would go pick up my daughter. I was doing alot of driving that night and had the opportunity about 5 times to drive to the gas station but I bypassed the urge. I don't know where the courage came from and am quite shocked that I didn't do it. Since then it hasn't been too bad.
I do deep breathing, ice-water, sit-ups, decaf green tea, blueberries, jelly belly's, and health magazine reading. I bought tons of copies of Shape, Yoga, Fitness, etc magazines as sort of an inspiration toward a healthier lifestyle. It helped not to smoke again but I've put on a few pounds. Weight has always been a struggle for me though so at least now I have ONE monkey off my back....smoking. I just have to keep working on making myself a better person because I was pretty much not liking who I have become in life.
It's hard to quit smoking. Maybe by going to the lake just in order to quit is putting too much focus on the effort. I found it easier to quit during a work day when I knew I had several tasks at hand for the entire day.
Either way, best of luck to you. I hope you have found the inspiration needed.

was gonna wait on an updatyee first,,, but as a smoker who quit cold turkey i really found that te morphine drip and darvacewt every 4 hours helped a lot....that and all the nurses who refused to let me out of bed for the first 4 days but after that, i wasnt bad i saw that it really was habit more than nicotine i was wanting and i have made it since oct 2nd 2003 it did help after i was releasesd from hospital that my drs surgical tech and my favorite person ovre at the hospital at the time was quiting as well she and i compared notwes for a few weeks and we both have managed to stay smoke free so far:) god bless ya cann,, best of luck,, and just remeber most jails are now smoke free sooo think about that before you kill someone:)

For all who have quit - how did you handle the mornings - when you first got up?

I immediately would go to the bathroom and brush my teeth; then jump in the shower; THEN have coffee and breakfast; then brush my teeth immediately again. Then chew gum.

Change up your morning routine. Buy a bag of carrots and eat those - it gives you something to do with your hands, it's not fattening, and you'll help your skin and eyes.

Froggy - while I'm sorry that is how you had to quit smoking, that was pretty funny! I don't think c.ann will want to go that route though! :teeth:

I quit 18 years ago. I remember the chest pressure and
the anxiety now. I practiced relaxation breathing everytime
I wanted a cig because I was missing the inhale and exhale
as well as the nicotine. Don't hyperventilate, it's a very slow,
rythymic, deep in and out. i also missed having something in
my mouth. I cut carrot strips, ate slim jims and carried a straw
around in my pocket to put in my mouth. I also started chewing
a toothpick occassionaly. Mostly, the breathing helped.
Wash all your clothes, clean out your car, all the ashtrays should
be thrown away. The people who love you(including you) will
benefit from this the very first minute-5 minutes-hour-morning-day-month-year-decade you don't smoke.
Be good to your self and gentle too!
