Oh my god I hope the gifts make it through the night! My one cat is killing me! The tree branches are held up with string, he has taken off all the ornaments (we keep putting them back on), and now he is checking out the presents! He has his paw in a bag!

I'm done. I'm going to bed. We should have named him Grinch.

I know just how you feel. I will have be buying a new tree next year, thanks to our kitty. And she has lived in the laundry room every time we leave the house or go to bed (if she doesn't want to stay in the room with me or dd) just to try and save the ornaments!

She loves running as fast as she can through the house, in to the living room and up the tree! :lmao: Fun to watch but scary for our ornaments!! Maybe next year I will put up two trees, one in the family room for us and one in the living room just for her!

LOL...I recently know how you feel! We just got our "2" 8 week old kittens on Wednesday & WOW are they alot of work! I finally decided just to take my ornaments off the tree & wake up at 6a instead of 3a to put the presents out. I didn't trust them overnight.

Merry Christmas :)

our cat just likes to sleep under the tree, so I am very thankful for that. our dog on the other hand is a GSD with a big ol tail that likes to swish near the tree, so all the nice ornaments have to be higher on the tree. and when he was a puppy, he was a present stealer, lol.

A pet expert mentioned on TV that the Christmas tree looks like a GIANT cat tower to a cat. :lmao:

Dear Lord, thank you for my old girl who is too lazy to try to climb anything these days. ; ) I remember the days of all of the ornaments breaking the first year we had she and her sister, we were newly married and the ornaments were just dollar store stuff. Now I have a huge collection of sentimental , very expensive ornaments hubby has given me over the years and now my Mother is starting to pass down all of hers to me. I think If I had a kitten in the house, I would just not put them up lol.

My cat was a kitten last year. I was hoping she wouldn't remember going in the tree but she has made it a daily thing.

Be careful of those cats! My dog has been sick and one of times we were at the vet recently a lady came running in with this weird huge contraption of quilt and tree parts. They had to cut the tree apart and bring a big chunk of it in to the vet's office for help extricating the cat.

Apparently it was pretty wound up in there! When I left after an hour, the cat was still there. It was out, but they were still treating it - maybe lacerations?

Love those pics!!!

My older cats don't see the tree as anything other than something to sleep under.

My two young ones? Well the youngest was just smacking at the ornaments a little. The other one wasn't interested in anything until I put the presents out this morning. THEN he was interested!! (I'm sure he thought it was all for him!!!!)

that's so funny! Our cat is a year old now but never climbed the tree. She likes to sleep under the tree, pounce at people as they pass by, and loves to chew the presents. She chews everything! :)

Cats are trouble! I have 3 who insit the tree is there tree. I gave up and put on plastic ordments, no garlen (it looks really nasty when they eat it and expell it), no tinsel and I tie it to a wall. This year we tried a 2 ft tree, in a big fish bowl (the base was broke) full of aquarium stones.. that lasted all of a hour, they toppled it and had stones everywere, this was 3 weeks ago and im still finding stones!

This made me smile. Thank you :goodvibes

At least your cat doesn't jump up in the tree. We had a cat who took a flying leap and landed in the christmas tree - crazy

Cats! Gotta love them! The gifts made it through the night, in large part due to the jingle bells I scattered around. This is the only cat that I have owned that pays sooo much attention to the tree. When we were decorating it, we would put an ornament on, he would take one off.

He does launch himself into the tree. I wish I knew how to post the two pictures I took of how the tree looked. One an evening photo, and the follow-up morning picture. The pictures are on my phone, if anyone would like to see it and post it here for all to see, I could picture text it to you. It is hysterical looking.

We end up having to close them in their room because they tried to eat the gift wrapping out of our gifts.

We brought home our kitten last year in January. The tree was undecorated and ready to be taken down, just sitting there naked and unprotected. :lmao: Kitten immediately launched herself into it and landed about 3 1/2 feet up, happy as could be. :cat: It did not seem like a good omen, especially to a woman who already lost a tree years ago to a previous kitten. (Yes, she KILLED the tree and we had to go buy another. :rotfl:)

So this year, the sequined tree skirt stayed in the closet. I knew she would eat it. We put up the tree and she began nibbling on the branches....not a good sign. So I fixed her little furry wagon. We put up a TRAIN around the tree and started that baby up whenever she got close to the tree. :rotfl2: It didn't completely break her of messing with the tree, but that train kept her at a distance most of the time. I am convinced the Christmas locomotive is all that saved our tree. God bless tiny trains.

So I say you must all admist you are powerless against your cats and if you have the will to keep fighting at all, purchase a train, my friends. Choo choo! :woohoo:

I have one cat who just sleeps under the tree. Like a Christmas card. So sweet. Then .. well then there's the other one.:lmao:
Our tree has been up for almost a month now. I gave up fighting him a week ago. There's no ornaments and the bottom branches anymore. I didn't put any presents under the tree until Christmas Eve, and he spent the night in the bathroom. My stockings have been knocked down numerous times. And these cute Christmas birds with bells on their hats that sit on our end table.. well they have seen better days.
He's so lucky he's cute.:rolleyes1

We can all be thankful that dogs don't have the same instinct to jump and climb the Xmas tree. What a mess that would be!
