We are at Disneyland right now and were looking for a space at 11:30 for the 1:00 parade yesterday. We couldn't believe it when all the spaces on the curb were taken, not by people, but by rows and rows of blankets! I just had to take a picture of the madness!

Today, security is taking a harder stance against them and they are actually removing the blankets that are not accompanied.

I'm glad security is cracking down on this! This was going on last week when we were there, though not to the extreme seen in your photo. Most blankets were watched over by a person, not left alone. I keep thinking Disney should follow the TSA announcement, "Unattended baggage will be removed and impounded." :teeth:

Same as visiting the all inclusive resorts with towels everywhere, and no sunbathers to be seen. For me, since I don't mind a little bit of conflict, I move those towels and occupy the seat. In this case, if I was ready to sit down for the parade I would feel no guilt folding up those blankets and sitting in that spot.

I hope that security keeps it up through the holidays. Isn't an unattended blanket a tripping hazard, anyways? I wonder where security puts all these blankets.

I can't imagine the gall of these people to think that they can leave an unattended blanket to save a spot. But then again, if it's been allowed in the past, it's no wonder that they think they can get away with it.

I heard about security cracking down a while back. But it was still going on all over the place when we were there in October. Seriously, I'm to the point where I would probably just fold one up and move it to the side. That's nuts.

I saw this yesterday as well. I thought it was very rude that people had blankets on the benches!

The pic looks like maybe only one unattended blanket to me. The lady might be "attending" the blankets to the right.

Love the pic you posted. We saw the blanket phenomenon Dec 2nd thur 5th while we were there. Why has this turned into an age of the "Me-Me" entitlement syndrome. It's really too bad people have lost their manners and courtesy toward others.

We had trouble holding our personal space and there were four of us.
The invaders and the squeeze we experienced about 45 minutes and up until the parade began, was more than I expected.
However, I would politely let them know I'd been there for two hours and this was my space and they needed to find another place.
I wasn't about to be squished to a point where I wouldn't be able to enjoy the parade.

Disney needs to form a Space Holding policy and stick to it!

The big problem is,,who's to blame? Disney, the tourists, the APers. Didn't they have people campin out for 7 hours for the the first PTN Parade on the 60th?
People camp out a week before Black Friday, the opening of a movie, when they already have tickets. When will it end?

We were seated 2 HOURS before a parade and 10 min before parade time people tried to squeeze in on our bench like on the arms and I very calmly nudged them out of the way. Another one tried to practically sit on my DH. He's very polite and didn't do anything so I pushed him which caused him to hit the grown woman and her to slide off the arm rest. She gave me a dirty look and I just shook my head and said no.

When I see a blanket I have no problem moving it. They had the same issue with F! and thus the new FP system. I moved people's blankets all the time and when security would come by and ask if nearby blankets were ours I would happily say no and hand them to the security. I just don't feel bad.

Wowser. I think I would just have fun moving peoples blankets around and then sitting back and watching confused people trying to find there blanket ;)

Oh yeah. And when they come up to you and ask if you took their blanket you just say "no, but I saw the CMs cleaning up them off the curb." And watch their jaw drop and they try to convince you with their eyes to let them join you

Maybe I'm just heartless but I don't feel bad at all. I think it's a little funny actually.
I mean imagine if someone saved their spot for black Friday with a blanket and then just left.

Actually, this pic is of one family. They had 6 blankets (a couple are not shown in the picture) spread all down one section of the curb. The lady didn't move to the middle until we went over to their blankets and looked to see if any were unattended. While we were looking at their blankets, the guy came over and said "These are OURS!" while giving us a dirty look for questioning their blankets.

Those weren't the only blankets that were out down the street. There were several blankets down different points of Main Street that looked to be unattended with no one around.

We were waiting for the parade today and security came by and picked up quite a few blankets that were left unattended. They would ask the people around the blanket if it belonged to them, and if they answered no, security would grab the blanket and put it on top of the trashcan.

Ugh. I was thinking that at least 2-3 people could go on each and could see if one family did it others would copy and think it was ok, but for one group to try to reserve that much space seems crazy. Is there space towards fantasyland closer to an hour before? Doesn't have to be front row...I'm not sure I can deal with that sort of nuttiness.

There's definitely space an hour before, but it wont be front row. I can't comment on the space towards fantasyland, because we don't usually go back there for parades. I'm assuming its the same thing, though.

Being there yesterday, as others have said, I thought it was a bit out of control.

Then again, I also found a curbside spot near the tree for the Christmas parade, with a mere 20 minute wait yesterday. I was looking further down Main Street, but it was all blankets and strollers. (Holy cow--if we could park the strollers in a central location, putting those families on blankets big enough for their rears, we could fit like double the people on Main Street during parades!) There were two nice young ladies, and I asked if I could squeeze in next to them, and they let me... And then when they "walked the rope" out to the corner, that gave us enough room to let another 2 families in that same area. The more the merrier, as long as they are making some effort!
