Third week on a beach

Hi All,

Planning for the return trip in July '06 (only 338 days to go!) and was wondering about a third week at the coast? What we really fancy is accommodation on a beachfront, preferably not a hotel and not necessarily a villa (a beach hut would be good ). We dont mind either gulf or space coast - does anyone have any experiences, good or bad.

Last year we went to Clearwater for our third week which was nice but on the recommendation of DH's workmate we drove down to Ana Maria Island which is beside Sarasota. We loved it so much that this October we are spending our third wek in Ana Maria Island and I can't wait. It's very uncommercial and the beaches are amazing. Look it up on google - I'm sure you'll like what you see.

Thanks for the advice, will try Ana Maria Island and also Ocean Hammock which looks idyllic.

It has to be Sanibel Island on the Gulf coast. The Island is one long beach on one side, and a wildlife reserve on the other side. The are great hotels or beach huts / villas to rent and a number of very good places to eat. I am going there next Easter for a few days in the middle of our next trip.
