Third Time's a Charm PTR - May 2012 - I should give up on planning trips.

I just realized I called you Fran in the last post. Sorry Alison. I've been praying for Fran a lot, so I just have Fran on the brain. Hope she is feeling good today. You should schedule it. Hopefully, it works out. I know you said the VGC sells out far in advance, but you can spot check for open dates there at the very least to get your points used by 09-01-12. If I can find an open date in June (not sure if I have yet, since I am still working with Dave and am still confused), I bet you can find one before Septmember.

No worries, people call me Fran all the time. I've already chicked the entire summer for VGC. There's a night here and there, but nothing days in a row. We would have to stay at one of the hotels and trade our points out. No biggie, it would be better than losing them.

I'll upload some of the pictures and send you a PM. No one else seems to want to see them. I have pictures from Monday and those are pretty gnarly.

Thanks, I guess it comes with the profession, but very little bothers me. I'd love to see the new developments.

As I said, I have them from Monday. I just got them off my camera and got a rent.com inquiry so I'm back at the apartment waiting to show it again. I forgot that she had me take pictures of the botched dressing from the weekend. You'll see why we canceled the trip and why she was so in tears about the condition.

Alison,

I'm so sorry. So sorry. I'm just sad and frustrated for you. I know I should probably be somewhat positive ;) for you but that is just so incredibly disappointing.

Good thoughts sent for Fran as well.

Thanks Lisa, it is frustrating, but it was the right decision. Hopefully she will heal and everything will be OK.

Just thinking about you guys and sending some healing vibes. :goodvibes

Thanks, at least she is keeping off her feet. :thumbsup2

Trying to stay caught up, I hope Frans leg is better very soon.

This is going to be a long healing process and they tell us that everyone is different. I hope we can do what is needed to make it as speedy as possible.

Us too Alison. Us too. :goodvibes

I've been following quietly. You know how I was all over the place times ten on my last TR. My mom had open heart surgery - heart valve replacement - and she never came back to us mentally. She had slight dementia and the operation sent it flying at rapid speed so to speak. That's why I was so *off* pm my last TR (yes I know I ramble no matter what :rotfl2:but even more off comes when I'm overly emotional) and that's why I've been so *off* on your TRs. I barely keep up with my daily thread. I'm totally overwhelmed. But just wanted you to know that I'm following in the background - do care and was saddened to come on to see you off and learn about all that you're facing.

Hope that Fran continues to do better and better in the days to come.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I know what you mean. Fran's parents had dementia for the last 4-5 years of their lives and while they were evil nasty people, it was still hard because she cared for them. I get the same way. With Fran being so under the weather, I've been really *off* myself. I'm trying to pull it all together because I wear about 10 different hats around the house. My latest stress factor is putting together a rhythm section for our swing band for the upcoming pride season.

This was us last year.

I see you play in the band too Alison. That's awesome. Now, I know how you feel on the idea of starting it. You will have a lot of fun.

What a great pic. Are you on a float, it looks like a parade? Long Beach? I see Laurel Ave.

Do you play? Fran and I met in a swing band, and I got my degree in saxophone performance so, yeah, I'm a little into it! The crowds loved us last year and in Long Beach we won the President's trophy. The best part is everyone loved us because 1) we looked classy and were fully clothed 2) and we sounded awesome!

Yeah, we are on a float, but that was in West Hollywood, but Long Beach is coming up in 12 days. That's why I'm stressing about finding a rhythm section. Our drummer is leaving for the Peace Corps (she in her 50's and must be nuts) and our Bass Player is moving back to San Diego. Our Guitar player backed out in January, but we never got a chance to find another because of all this stuff with Fran.

I played the clarinet in sixth grade. My older sister was in the 8th grade, so we shared hers. It was a good thing my Dad never bought me my own. I was terrible. I was always last or second to last chair. Needless to say after one year of band, I did not go back. My sister took the clarinet with her to high school anyway. That said, I love listening to music, all music. I am truly eclectic. If I had a chance to hear your band, I would love to.

I only mentioned you will have a lot of fun, because you asked on the other thread whether or not you should start the new band. It was not because I have an ounce of right brained talent, and I would ever be allowed in a band. In the seventh grade, I tried choir. In the eighth grade, I tried art. In the ninth grade, I tried theater. In the tenth grade, I gave up and became a teacher's aide.

You should go for it. I really think despite the time and financial investments that you and fran will really have a great time with it. That is cool that you have a degree in saxophone performance. My degree is much more boring than yours although I did take some theater classes (as electives) again in college. I was not good, but I really enjoyed them.

Actually on the other thread this is the band I mentioned. We started it in 2010 and I was asking if if I should put in the energy to push it through for this years parade season. We were a hit last year, but it takes a lit of work and money. We don't get enough volunteers to do it. Fran and I have to spend a lot of money to pay players, not to mention the float is expensive. However, last year when we first entered the parade we had a good reason. This year with her illness not as much, but we sort of feel like we need to continue, me more so than her. But that might be because she feels so rotten. She may thank me next year for keeping it going or hate me for prolonging the legacy!

With all of the new information and seeing that you are both really into it, I really think you should keep it going. It will be awesome for both of you in the long run. I love that you met that way too. How romantic!

Fran lives and breathes to be in a Swing Band. That is why when she was not sure about whether we should try and keep it going I was like :confused3 I think it's just her feeling bad with the wound and she will be happy that I pushed it forward in her sickness. You have no idea how much money she has spent buying music on eBay for this band, so I'll just go ahead and hire us the rhythm section. The money should come in on the 21st and we should be OK.

I hope you can replace them! That's so cool. How's she feeling? What did the doc say today?

That is awesome. I am glad it is going to work out. Thank goodness that property is finally closing.

I somehow completely missed the band stuff. Is this a different group from the one you play with at Disney? How easy is it to find more players? I hope everything works out.
