Hi! I posted this on the rent/trade forum and was messaged that I wasn't allowed to ask questions there. Basically I'm trying to figure out if it's affordable for my family to rent points and be able to stay at a DVC resort instead of ASMU family suite...which I would really like to....don't care for ASMU resort but it fits my family at an affordable price.

Dates and room type removed Can anyone tell me the cheapest resort to look at? Anyone get any great deals in the past...or am I dreaming? Thank you for any and all help!:flower3:

Hi! Look at the DVC point chart at the top of the dis and see how many points you will need for a particualr resort.. Then multiply it by 10-12$ per point and that is how much it will cost to rent from someone on the DIS..

Hi - the DIS does not allow any posts that are seeking DVC Rentals. So you cannot post your dates, room type, resort, etc. that you are seeking. But General questions are allowed. If you have further questions regarding posting, please contact the moderators via email or PM. Thank you!

Regarding your queries, there are accommodations such as Old Key West Resort which will have one bedroom that hold a family of 5 plus one baby age 2 and younger, so that may work for you. I would not count on it being cheaper than the All Stars Resorts, however.

As mentioned above, you will want to check the Points Calculator for your dates and visit the Rent/Trade Board to see if anyone there has points available for you. There is also David's DVC rental site which is advertised on the top of our board. Good luck! :)

You may reply to any of the threads on the Rent/Trade Board titled "Points for Rent" with your dates, resort and type of villa needed to see about availability. Another option is to see if a DIS advertiser, www.DVCrequest.com would be able to assist.

Good luck! :)

It depends on the price of the points. At $10/pt (which is getting tougher to find on the R/T board, but not impossible) it's usually exactly the same price as an all-stars resort.

I've rented points for a lot of my friends over the years on the R/T board and the funny thing i've typically noticed is that it's usually priced right about the same when you compare apples to apples.

If you compare it to a Deluxe resort, I've seen the savings anywhere from 40-80% for the exact same accommodations. Again, that's $10/pt though.

The secret to getting the best deal on the R/T board is by continually checking for when the Original Poster is online by the green light in the corner of their name. And it especially helps if you get hold of them during the daytime when Member Services is open. That way they can quickly get your info and immediately call MS to check availability and lock you in.

If you get frustrated or don't have time to spend looking for the absolute best deal, I do hear David's dvcrequest.com is good too. I believe he charges $13/pt. I hope DIS doesn't get mad at me for this, but I personally think David has the best points calculator on the internet, so it might be worth a click just to see how many points it will take.

Thanks for the info...but from the little research I've done it's going to be MUCH more than our ASMU family suite. For our package through Disney...6 nights, 6 day base tickets, dining plan (we also got the kids stay/play free promo) it came to $2400. Just for the DVC rented room alone is over $1,000. I guess I was dreaming...but thank you for your help!

It's tough to compete with that kids stay/play/eat free promo. I did a quick calculation of the tickets through Undercover Tourist and the stated price of the QS DDP and it came out to $1,778 for tickets and food for 6 nights. Add in the $1K for room and you're definitely a few hundred over.

Just FYI, I'm not sure what nights you were planning on, but DVC is cheaper on Sun-Thur nights by close to half the price of Friday and Saturday night stays. As stated earlier Old Key West would probably be your best bet on room accomodations for price and size.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip with those triplets! Such a great age to go. :goodvibes

Yeah unfortunately with 5 people in your group you'd be "forced" to go with a 1br at least. And those are more expensive than ASMu suites.
The benefit of the 1br is if you don't plan to do dining. Since it comes with a full kitchen you technically can do meals yourself. But who wants to do that during a vacation :)

Even DVC rentals cannot compete with specials offered by Disney - 40% off, Kids stay and play for free. But free dining may be better with DVC and purchasing the dining plan - except in your case with lots of smaller kids.

DVC is the way to go. Already been there and researched that! Luck for me the KWR is my fav and the best deal.
