Hello I live in Flroida and I am thinking of moving to MAryland. If anyone who lives there has any thoughts, advice, or comments regarding weather or anything else for that matter are more than welcome!!

Happy turkey day.

I have lived here for 40 years ( north baltimore city )
You can get evrything from city slum to multi million estates mountian to beach front.
The weather is all over the place we have a very good 4 seasons ,Hot and humid in summer Cold and snow in winter.
Now I would like to move to Florida one day But MD is great because you can go to the beach 1 day and aresort in the mountians the next.
We have alot to offer as far as stuff to do and a few minutes from DC.

We've lived here for 14 years and like it. The cost of living is the biggest negative, in my opinion. Traffic is bad, too, but of course that might not be depending on where you live, how far you have to drive, etc. I'm a SAHM, my DH works at home, so we can time most of our driving to avoid rush hour.

I think that the weather is a big plus. We have all four seasons--a hot summer, colorful fall, cold winter, and beautiful spring. The summer is hot enough to swim and get the feeling that it's indeed summer (hot and humid), but it doesn't last forever. Fall can be warm, like this fall, or cool/cold. Winter is not real severe, but usually we get some snow. Sometimes we get a lot of snow and sometimes just a little. We are often on the rain/snow line. In the spring all the flowers and flowering trees are very nice. Again, the weather can be cold or warm/hot.

Where would you be looking at? We're in Montgomery County, about 45 minutes from Washington DC and west of Baltimore.

I have lived in Maryland my entire life, and we won't go into how long that is.

Born and raised just north of Baltimore and have lived in Cecil County in the most northeastern corner of the state for the last 17 years.

We definitely have all four seasons. Maryland is called America in Miniature because we have ocean and mountains.

What part of the state were you considering?

I have been living in MD for about 10 years now. Don't love it; don't hate it. I'm originally from Florida, though, and have always wanted to move back. So, you know where my vote would be. :sunny: :earsboy:  The weather here is pretty mild. I love the spring and fall, but hate the cold. Winter is fun around the holidays, but when the weather persists until May it is unbearable (IMO). I can't stand how it gets dark here so early during winter. The summers here are also worse then Florida. The air quality is really poor and it is very hazy and humid often. It is nice to see the fall leaves and have a change of seasons though.

The cost of living is much higher, even up to grocery store prices. And, there is a faster pace. People tend to be much more laid back in Florida. Traffic is bad, but depending where you live in Florida, traffic is awful as well. I live in Montgomery County, MD but am from S. Florida, and lived up by NYC for a while so can't seem to get away from the crowds. My choice would be some mellow place in Florida.. specifically St. Augustine but can't get my DH to agree..

Anyone live in the Bethesda area? My friend may be moving there and was looking for info on the area.

I moved to Florida just over a year ago from Maryland. I spent 16 years there, and lived (extremely) rural and in the 'burbs of DC/Baltimore.

Housing prices are much higher Frederick county and east than they are in central Florida. Once you go to Washington county and west, prices are on a par, if not a tiny bit higher.

The first four years I lived there, I would have gladly moved elsewhere, then an opportunity to move presented itself and I realized how much I enjoyed it there. That said, I really enjoyed hanging lights on my house today (it is 70) more than I would have at my old house!

I am not sure of the exact location but one of my friends just moved there and I will be visitng when the house is finished in March so I was considoring moving there after the visit.

I've lived here my entire 43 years of life. I wouldn't live anywhere else. I love it here for the seasons. It seems to have the perfect amount of snow and heat. I live between baltimore and annapolis.

This is gonna sound silly but is Maryland considored part of new england????? Just wondering. Never left Florida so I am pretty sheltered.

The taxes are high. And depending on where you live, the traffic is bad, but not as bad as places in California, I hear. The weather is reasonable as described above. We rarely get hurricanes, tornadoes, almost never earthquakes. The insect and snake populations aren't too bad, I think a couple poisonous of each and not usually in populated areas. It is a nice moderate place to live, not too far from the beach or mountains.

Also, it is reasonably close to D.C., Philadelphia, New York, - several places of culture and business.

Hiya, my relatives are in MD. Lots of stuff to do.. I love DC. Well, I know I can't really help you out, but I'm hoping I might spend some time out there one day.

Hey, guys, can you tell me about Montgomery Co. My best internet buddy lives there, and I keep hearing it mentioned. I love D.C. and if I do ever go out there to work, I kinda fancy somewhere like Montgomery Co. My friend tells me he can get on the Metro and be in DC in 30 mins. He's in Montgomery Village. So... please indulge me guys? Oh incidentally I'm a Terps fan if that helps. ;)

I'm in Montgomery Village, also. Like my earlier post said, I like it a lot.

I think it takes more like 45 minutes to get into DC from the metro stop, but we are at the very end of the line.

Is it still cold in MArch during the day or at night??? Is it shorts weather ???? Thanks that is when I will be making my first visit.

Coming from Florida you will think cold. It can be cold in March and very often is, but it can also be warm (not hot, though). March is a fickle month.

March is usually cold. I would not plan on wearing shorts in March. Sometimes there are snow and ice in March. My son wears shorts in weather I consider cold, though.

Thanks guys! I have never seen snow so you are right ... I will think it is cold......... Another dumb questions... how do you stay warm in the snow?????? coat, scarve???? WIll I need to bring gloves etc??? ;)
