I'm not a DVC member but I love Disney resorts so much that I figured I might as well stay at the Disney Hilton Head next time I go to South Carolina. I'm looking to just hang out at the resort for a few days. I have heard that the main house and the beach house at HH have several daily activities, such as, Big Banana Cruise, Beachside Trailride, Dolphin Discoveries, Sunset Kayaking, Campfires and the Unbirthday Party. Does anyone know what kind of charges there are for these activities? Are any of them free to resort guest? I like to plan everything in advance and would like to figure out what my family and I can fit in the budget. Do these activities require advance reservarations? Any advice about the resort will also be appreciated. :confused3
Thanks

Ugh! I am so frustrated! I've misplaced my last folder of "goodies" from HHI. The one that has all the activities listed and restaurants, and all the good stuff. I'll keep looking!

I will tell you that I do really like HHI, but if you are used to Myrtle Beach being your SC destination, you will be bored silly at HHI. It's not an action packed island by any stretch of the imagination. Basically golf and shopping. However, at the resort, there's hammocks everywhere, the rooms are spacious (room layouts of OKW) and there are activities pretty much all the time.

I think the service at this resort is just fantastic. We once left a pillow there and realized it about 3 hours into the drive home. They FedExed it next-day at no charge. They are so friendly and willing to help you with dinner recommendations, directions, just about anything you need.

I enjoy just walking around the resort. There's a paved walkway that winds through the beautiful old trees, by the water, with hammocks along the way. The buildings are painted so that they blend with nature. And the BIG rocking chairs on your balcony are just great!

If you are looking for a slow-paced, R&R vacation, I would really recommend this resort. And if I can ever find those activity sheets, I'll report back in! I bet they'd be happy to fax you a sample sheet though. The fax is (843) 341-4130.

Here's what the DVC website posts:

Make your stay more magical with a wide range of recreational activities on land and sea for the entire family.* To make reservations for any of these activities, contact Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort Guest Services at (843) 341- 4100† .

We went to HH in Oct. to try it out. We arrived on Sunday and left on Wednesday for WDW. It was the best!

Very very relaxing and peaceful. DH played golf and I relaxed and read and spent a lot of time on the porch in the wonderful rocking chairs. I did take an Island Tour that cost $20.00. It was very interesting, esp if you had never been to the island. The activities will be determined on the time of year that you are visiting.

Enjoy your stay.

(I think this is my 1000th post! :cool1: )

Has anyone gone to HH in march? I was wondering if the activities would be altered because of cooler weather.. Thanks

We just returned from HHI Feb 19-23. Loved it! Room 1421 what a view! :cool1: Went to Savanah one day and that was the worst day of the trip, drive, parking, where to eat, what to do :confused3 . Spent the rest of the time at the resort enjoying relaxing, :coffee: the activities, and the pool. Some of the activities do cost but plenty are free. I called the resort before we went and they faxed me the current week's activities. The CM said that there are not that many change for the different seasons. This is a great place to go and relax. We wil definatly go back again.

March is the time we routinely go (DS's wedding interferes this year, though). Since we've never gone any other time, I have nothing to compare the activities to. But from what I've read here, it seems that they have all the activities in March that they offer at other times of the year. There are just much fewer people in attendance at the events. Last year, for the 3 hour tour of the island, I was the only one who went! However, even for only one person, they still had the tour. It was really nice getting my own "private" tour!

We are going in May and I wanted to take a day trip to Savannah and have lunch at The Lady and Sons Restaurant. How long was the drive to Savannah?

The trip to Savannah was less than an hour. We did the trip there two years ago when we were at HH. We also ate at Lady and Son's and were fortunate that Paula Deen (and one of her sons) was there. I had my picture taken with her and got one of her cookbooks signed. She is very sweet -- love her show! Have a good time.

I would love to meet her and have her sign one of her cookbooks, that would be a real highlight of my trip. Did you go for lunch or dinner and did you have to wait long for a table?

We went for lunch, and we had made reservations, so we didn't wait for a table, and we had a good one on the main floor. She just happened to be there, so I had bought a cookbook there (they have a few things for sale) and then she was in one room signing them -- not a big deal, not a long wait, and it wasn't an announced thing. They said she is there fairly often. I definitely would make reservations ahead of time.

No ressies allowed at Lady and Sons anymore. Yikes! We've been and watched the line form WITH ressies. I can't imagine how bad the wait must be now that they've eliminated advanced reservations.

The weather at HH in March is usually quite nice...have been when it was a little brisk but that is by NC/SC standards(i.e maybe temps "only" in the 50's or 60's). We have been at HH int he dead of winter and it was 70. Today in NC the forecast is for 80 degrees...aaahhh...hurry spring!
