Thinking of giving Atkins a second try...

Hi all. New to the WISH board.

I was on Atkins over a year ago and lost a good 30 lbs quickly, but come Thanksgiving I fell of the wagon and never climbed back on (although the weight sure climbed back on! and then some...) With a wedding and a honeymoon approaching, I really need to get to my goal weight of 145.

Anyone do Atkins a second time? Is induction easier since you suffered before? Is it harder to loose the weight?

Any help is appreciated... I'm off to search for threads on Atkins.

Bobbi :D

I'vr never done Atkins so I'm really no help to you at all. I just wanted to say hi and offer my support and good wishes! I look at it this way. I think the weight will come off easier this time artound, because you already know you can do it. That's what I'm experiencing with my second try at Weight Watchers. Since I already know the routine it's easier this time around. Good luck!!!

Hi Bobbi!
Welcome
I'm on Atkins for the second time around. I went from a size 10 down to a 4 the first time. I then started eating a low fat diet that included desserts and carbs. I gained all my weight back and ended up busting out of my size 12 pants.
I went back on Atkins on April 1 of this year and I'm now a size 8.
During Induction I had major sugar withdrawals and felt tired, headache and just plain yucky for a little over a week. I feel fine now with lots of energy and I'm on my way to my goal.
The only difference this time is I've adopted Atkins as a lifetime plan. I will not go back to eating sugar and carbs again. I know better this time.
Good luck with your decision! You know what works for you, the trick is just sticking with it! Let us know what you decide. It's nice to have a board like this with people going through the same thing. I think you'll find a big difference than going it alone as I did the first time.

Welcome to WISH, I'm glad to see you here.

I'm so glad you are going to be part of my support group now. Lots of WISHers follow the Atkins plan or some sort of controlled carbohydrate plan. If you have any questions all you have to do is ask and you will receive speedy replies.

I follow the Atkins plan but I started in January and haven't waivered yet. I don't know how it works the second time around. One thing I do know, if you give up refined carbohydrates for any period of time and then add them back to your diet, you will gain weight faster than you ever thought possible. That's why I've decided to leave refined carbohydrates out of my eating plan for the rest of my life. It's only been 6 months but so far so good.

If you think you will go back to eating refined carbohydrates after you lose the weight you want to lose then Atkins might not be the plan for you. Something to think about, anyway.

Whatever plan you choose to follow, you are going to succeed. I'm sure of it. Every one of your new WISH pals plan to help you do that.

I've been on Adkin's Diet before, and I know that everyone reacts differently to the diet, but you can do it.

I am still on induction phase of 15-grams of carbs. per day. And I average a little less than a 1/2 lb. per day.

Although I may gain one week and lose the next week.

Just stick with it and you can do it.

If it comes off slow then you are more likely to keep it off.

And I agree with nativetxn.

You can do it.

God bless you, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)
