DS age 10 has been bugging for years to go here....we always end up at Disney...but this year we're thinking of going to Universal instead. My only concern is our 2 1/2 yr old. Will it be worth it taking him there....what kind of things are there for kids that age? or would it be too much for him? Any info would be great. Thanks

A few questions:

How tall is the 2.5 y/o? Will you be doing both parks or just one?

At USF, your 2.5 y/o will not be able to ride BTTF or MIB, but can do stationary seating at Jimmy Neutron. As long as he's 36", then he can ride Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster. Everything else he'll be able to do.

At IOA, however, he will be more restricted. He'll be able to do all the attractions in Seuss Landing and Storm Foce Accelatron. If he's 36" he can do P-Flyers in JP and Flying Unicorn in Lost Continent. The majority of the other rides will be a no-go, and you'll have to child swap.

We didn't 'do' universal for 2 years thinking our kids would not get too much out of it. We went this easter and were very impressed... all the family up to grandparents found loads to do.. we ended up doing 4 days! Why don't you just split a day between both parks as a first foray? As there's probably less at IOA for the little one, suggest you go to US first, early, and then walk across to islands at/after lunch. Not disney, but acceptable!

Dark Marauder.....Hiya.....whata about in Jurrasic park...that adventure playground....what's that called? Would he be allowed to play their with her taking him round by the hand? My children spent a long time there playing.

I remember when my kids were 2-3 they loved Barney, ET, The Animal Show, Saving Elroy now Jimmy Nuetron and I'm sure they will like Shrek. You can do the baby swap on other rides.

At IOA there's Me Ship the Olive and Camp Jurassic, and If I Ran the Zoo. They are all perfect play areas for a 2.5 year old - or indeed for any kids. You can take it on turns to go on the big rides with your DS 10, whilst the other gets wet with DS2. (Take lots of spare clothes!).

And as Mike says, you can swap parks part way through the day if you want to.

We are me, DH, DS12, BIL, DNi 12, DNe7, DNe3, SIL, SIL's sister, SIL's DNi 15, and we wouldn't miss US/IOA for anything.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the input. I'm beginning to think maybe we'll wait another year before trying to go w/ ds 2...or maybe Dh and ds10 can go without us for one day, while I do something with the younger one. Thanks again!

Your family will love Universal. All of the ages will have a good time. For the youngest there are all the play areas, the Barney show and so much more.

Have fun no matter what you decide!
