Hi! I am new to this board and thrilled to have found it - I am hoping for some help. We are thinking about traveling to Disney during the month of October with plans to go to the Not So Scary Halloween Party. We have two girls - a three year old and a one year old. I am looking for anyone's thoughts/experiences of going to Disney during this time of the year, and if my three year old would be too young to enjoy the Halloween celebrations. Any experiences with weather would be appreciated as well.
Thank-you
Michelle

October is a beautiful time of year to go to Disney. The average daytime high is 29C and the low 18C. Rain is a lot less than September. We just booked a room for October 2 to 7 and our hoping that October 2 will be a party night.

The challenge with a 3 year old at MNSSHP (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, you have to learn all of the short forms that everyone uses) is how is she at staying up? The party starts at 7 PM and if they follow last years schedule the parade will be at 8:15 PM and the fireworks at 9:30 PM. I think your daughter will have a lot of fun trick or treating and meeting all of the characters. At least I hope so with the characters. On our first trip our son was 5 and he wouldn't go near anyone until our last day when he hugged Belle. Of course he was very quick about it and we didn't have our camera ready. :) Our daughter was 7 and loved the characters. I think that showing your daughter photos of the characters in the parks will help prepare her for how big they are.

You can get more information on last year's party at http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/halloween.htm.

We've visited WDW at all times of the year (with the exception of January)and without doubt my two favorite months are October and May. We have 3 daughters and all of our October trips were when they were very young, so my answer is that you have chosen a wonderful time of the year (great weather and generally manageable crowds) and your three year old will very much enjoy the Halloween celebrations. We have never attended MNSSHP so I can't comment on that, but I'm sure there are others here who will share their experience. Welcome :wizard: and have a magical trip.

We've been to WDW in October every year since 2003 and by far it is our favorite time to go (May is a close 2nd). We attended the MNSSHP in 2005, 2006 and 2007 but found it was actually more crowded than the park during the day

As far as weather goes, we usually travel down the first couple weeks in October and have had very hot and humid weather the past couple of years. Mind you being from ON, you may not find it as humid as those of us in AB. On average the weather is very warm with very little rain (and if it does rain, it's a quick shower).
