Thinking of cancelling Marrakesh - replace with what, though?

I've read a couple not-too-flattering reviews of Marrakesh lately, and I'm just not thrilled w/ the idea of eating there our first night.

I think I'd like to stay in Epcot, though, since we are getting in that afternoon, and were planning to just stay at Epcot since they have EMH that night. I already have ressies at Chefs de France and Le Cellier, so those are out. What would you recommend?

I was thinking maybe Rose and Crown, since we're kind of British nuts, plus DH loves his Guinness, but I've seen very mixed reviews for that, too.

Nine Dragons kinda sounds like mall chinese food.

Any suggestions?

Edited because I see Alfredo's will be closed in Sept, so nevermind on that!

Marrekesh is one of my family's favorite restaurants. The food is so good, and the wait staff is pretty good. There are a lot of things to look at too, with the awesome architecture.

That being said, Rose and Crown is very good too, just much less interesting atmosphere to me.

Marrekesh is a must do for us on each trip. We will be back in October for dinner.
I find the setting to be beautiful, the servers warm and friendly and the food very good. There is musical entertainment as well as a belly dancer. All in all it is a very nice experience.
Another restaurant I would recommend is Teppan Edo, the former Teppanyaki. It is a Benihana style Japanese Steakhouse, but it is good. You are seated at tables for 8 though, so you would be with others.
We have always liked the Rose and Crown as well. It too is one of our traditional WS meals. If your husband likes his Guiness he will be happy. The service here is also warm and friendly. However I am less than impressed with the current menu after the changes and I will re think whether we return.
Good Luck with your decision.

You will find mixed reviews for EVERY restaurant in WDW. I wouldn't change my ADRs based solely on a few bad reviews.

I agree with the above poster.

For 2 reasons.

Number 1: We tried Marakesh and loved it! It's so pretty inside and the food is fun to try! (And I enjoyed most of it !)

Number 2: We ended up trying some resturaunts that we really weren't sure about, based on reviews. Turns out they were amazing! We've decided unless the reviews are 95% terrible it's worth trying!

Beirgarten is awesome! Or you can walk over to the Beach Club and try the Cape May Clam Bake, that is another one of our favorites.

I am hoping to try Rose and Crown on our next visit...the menu looks pretty good

I told my husband it would be a cold day in Heck before I would eat there. Well, last June, it got mighty darn cold because we ate lunch there. Believe it or not, it was rather good. I'd even go back again.

Oh, dear. For the longest time, I have been singing the praises of Marrakesh and nobody ever agreed.

Now that other people like it there, I'm going to stop. I do NOT want this to become the new Le Cellier or Boma or whatever the DIS liked before that...then it gets all crowded and hard to make reservations. And I can always get a seat at Marrakesh, even in the middle of Free Dining, even at 7:30, before Illuminations. I do not want that to change. It's my favorite restaurant. :scared:

OP, don't go to Marrakesh. Go somewhere else. I no longer recommend it.

I don't think Marraksh will ever be as popular as Le Cellier- too many folks will never go for Moroccan food because of its "too spicy/too weird/too different" rep (even though it's not deserved). Moroccan food isn't as widely eaten as, say, Chinese, Italian, or even Japanese, so folks are leery of trying it out (especially at Disney prices). I'm OK with that- it means fewer people to fight over ADRs with.

Biergarten. Go to the Biergarten. It's fun there.

Or France! I hate french food. I'm going to start recommending France at every opportunity. ;)

Mararakesh is terrific. The food, ambiance and entertainment all add to a wonderful dining experience. It is a must-do for us each trip.

Like someone else said, you will find mixed reviews for every WDW restaurant. I do find, however, that the more unusual restaurants suffer more from bad reviews. Don't cancel just because of some negativity.

Marrakesh and Boma are our only two "must do's" at WDW. We have had dinner and/or lunch probably 6 or 8 times and have always loved it.
Too many people are nervous about eating something different. I say, let them eat hamburgers! Leaves more room for us to have the REALLY GOOD food!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Again, I agree with most of the votes here- do not cancel Marrakesh. My husband made me try it last year and now I have to eat there every trip. Their kabobs are the best!!!
Don't miss out!:grouphug:
