Its about time for a new computer.

This is what I need.

Windows based. ( would like Vista)
photo/video/music storage
FAST
Desk top
Reliable.

I am open to almost any brand

Am I asking too much?

also be sure to have some way of doing back-up -- built-in CD or DVD writeable drive for instance. We have BOTH for copying.

I just went through this and got a Sony Vaio. It's so hard to choose, isn't it? If it helps any, all the ones I looked at were Vista-capable. When it comes out, I get it for no extra cost.

Good luck!

Yes, it should have inputs:)

If your'e going to do any computer gaming make sure it has a very good video card. Almost every game made now requires a card that can handle 3D graphics. Best way to do this is to find a game you want to play and make sure to get the card it recommends (not requires) and get that one or better.

a Mac running Windows XP in Bootcamp will solve your needs. :)

if you're still intent on buying a PC, don't let the Vista option be a factor. it's not much of an upgrade when it comes to an OS. XP with constant security patches is still a better choice for the average family.
