Hi, I figured I would come on here to to experts. I've heard from friends mixed reviews. Sorry if this has been asked before I tried searching didn't find to much.
I am in the early planning of booking our first Disney cruise. Looking for feedback on people who have cruised adults only and loved or didn't love it.
I am open to any preferably the Warmer ones. :) we are big Disney fans and we go to Disney a lot so we know that there is lots of kids always but I am just wondering if there is enough adults only stuff to keep you loving it or not. Any advice would be great. Thank you.

Edit* we also enjoy adult beverages so any thing on that would help also :)

I have only cruised Disney as an adult - either solo or with my parents and sister. I LOVE it! I've never felt weird or out of place, because just like the parks, there is no "ceiling" on how old you are to enjoy all things Disney.
They have "enrichment" things like drawing classes, crafts, cooking demos, towel folding demos...even trivia or Bingo if you're into that. The movies and shows are open to everyone. I can honestly say I've never been bored on a Disney cruise.

(And in Feb, I'm taking my parents - and yes, we ARE signed up for the Frozen meet AND the Princess Gathering.)

You will love cruising Adults only, we do. We have done 4 with our kids and grandkids through the years and now that we have adult children we have done 9 just the 2 of us and we have two more booked in April/May for our 30th wedding anniversary.
We have done a lot of the "special cruises" (other than the Caribbean). We consider DCL as our floating hotel to new destinations. We know exactly what we are getting when we board, a clean ship with wonderful cast members and great shows. We love Palo brunch and dinner. Remy is wonderful as well.
We have sailed from Port Canaveral, Miami ( our backyard) NYC, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Hawaii.
When we sail Caribbean we always hope to get one new port in.
You will become addicted, trust me! :)

Have a wonderful time.

We will be sailing our ninth (me) and tenth (DW) adult-only cruise with DCL next month, including Mediterranean 7-night, two transatlantics, Alaska, eastern Caribbean, and multiple Bahamas itineraries. On the 7-night and longer cruises, I do all of the sea day cooking classes, some of the adult beverage seminars, some of the trivia games, and enjoy spending time in the adult-only deck areas and lounges. DW adds in many character sightings, usually taking many, many pictures. We also try to do a Palo or Remy brunch and usually a Palo dinner. We've done the Remy dinner as well, but we usually cruise on the classic ships (Magic and Wonder) when the itineraries work for us, so no Remy. Most of our port adventures are tour-oriented rather than activity-oriented and we find ourselves choosing more half-day tours by preference to leave time to enjoy the ship when other passengers are still ashore.

There is no casino on-board and we're not bingo players; we consider this to be a feature not a bug. Also, although I enjoy various adult beverages, DW chooses not to drink, so we don't miss the discount adult beverage packages available on some of the other cruise lines. I do have a beer mug card that I use when drinking draft beers and sometimes purchase a 3- or 4-bottle wine package for the convenience.

Finally, we've found the ability of DCL (and WDW as well) to accommodate my DW's dining allergy to be a particular benefit. The fact that the servers in the main dining rooms rotate with their passengers means that you don't have to repeat yourself every time you order dinner. Our head servers have been very attentive in this regard and as a result we frequently choose to eat breakfast and lunch in whatever location our server team will be working since they handle things very well.

I've only done adult-only on all 11 cruises on DCL. The youngest was 19 on one of them. Typically it's just my husband and me. But we've cruise with our adult children, as well as my husband's mom and her husband, plus sister in law & her husband.

Absolutely no issue doing it "adult only".

Ha that is my other fear I will get hooked.
Thanks!!!!

I'm recently off the Dream 4 night with just myself and my best friend, 1st cruise ever. We had a wonderful time and I needed more time to explore and do all the activities. I didn't need a casino and we don't smoke so Disney was very pleasant. We did meet several characters and that was fun even as adults only. We did a Mixology class with our Facebook group and that was a highlight. We were seated with two couples for dinner and they both did Palo and highly recommended it. The adult pool area was seldom busy. I tried the drinks of the day and they were good but I got a bit tired of sweet drinks and I normally like that. My only complaint is that the cruise was too short.
A coworker of mine that does Carnival said to never do more than 5 days because you'll be dying to get off the ship and I definitely didn't feel that way with Disney.

Our actual Anniversary in next month, but we postponed our anniversary trip for the day after our son's wedding in April.
Well last week a 4 night out of Miami Florida resident rate popped up and I showed my husband and he said book it you crazy addicted woman! Then a few days later we added our grandkids to the reservation, I can't wait I love watching them enjoy it, they love "Mickey's Boat"

I was just looking at the number of nights to pick as well!

DH and I have no kids. We love the Disney cruises because there is a lot of stuff to do and great adult options...

First of all, the adult sections on the ships are fantastic (Quiet Cove, Cove Café, Bars, and 18+ restaurants like Remy and Palo) and Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay is absolutely perfect!

Also, you can do the spa, you can go to the movies, you can participate in many alcohol tastings.

(And I strongly recommend all of those activities!)

There are adult only venues, areas, dining, and events. So you if you spend your time in those areas and activities, your involvement with kids will be minimal.

That's exactly what we're looking for !

Thank you all so much for the help! I think we are going to try a 5 night one and see how it goes ! :flower1:

I think any fan of Disney will like a Disney cruise.

I do have to say that my early cruises, I loved. I've been on all 4 ships and my next one will be #10. I still have a good time for the most part, but I have seen so many changes, that I can't say that I love them anymore.

Most of my cruises have been adult only and a majority have even been solo.

You can avoid the children on the cruise for the most part. There is an adult-only area on the pool deck. There is an area of clubs that become adult only after 9pm. There are a variety of wine, cocktail, and spirit tastings that incur an additional expense. These are fun and I believe, a good value, so I highly recommend these. There is no cocktail/spirit package like on other cruise lines.

I'm probably in the minority on the daytime entertainment. I'm not one to play Bingo and I'm not interested in trivia, so I don't participate. Usually, I'm outside enjoying the sunshine with a good book or taking a nap on the Promenade deck. Occasionally, there will be a movie on that I haven't seen in the theater. Sometimes I will sit in the coffee lounge(adult only) and enjoy a treat there.

Evening entertainment will be either the Disney Broadway-type production show or a entertainer from shoreside. I have enjoyed the production shows, initially, but not enough to see them on repeat cruises. They are G-rated, FYI, and are Disney story-related, for the most part, rather than just song and dance. The shoreside entertainment will usually do an extra adult-only show in one of the clubs, but they are PG rated, not R rated.

Evening in the clubs is usually dancing and maybe some kind of game. There is a sports bar, if you are into that. Here again, PG rated, for the most part. The clubs will most likely be deserted by 10:30-11pm.

The deck parties are live musicians with the characters dancing and the cruisers, either dancing or enjoying watching the dancing. They will show some animated action on the big screen and then there are some fireworks at the end. You can dress like a Pirate or not for Pirates in the Caribbean night.

I find the mixed drinks aren't very good, so I avoid those.

I find most of the public areas to be loud. The deck parties are loud, the atrium is loud, the dining rooms are loud.

If you want to avoid the kids, try to steer clear of the atrium where most of the character meets are held. The kids and families do have their own pool, so you can avoid walking through that area, if you want. Their clubs areas are easily avoided.

You can look at past navigators at http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/ to see if there are enough adult activities to keep you entertained. Since I don't care to participate in most of these activities, my answer is no, but then that's because these don't interest me. They may be just what you are looking for and there are plenty of people that will tell you that there is so much to do, they can't do it all. Only you can decide that for yourself.

My worst kid story...one night I wanted to see the late movie on the Funnel Vision and it was the exact same night that the kids from the club had a late night pool party. I could not hear a word of the movie. So disappointing since the movie would not be repeated during the cruise.

So, I wouldn't let the fact that there are lots of kids on a Disney cruise bother you. The adult activities aren't to my liking, but may be fine for you. Adult beverages can be had. Definitely budget for the tastings and you may or may not like the cocktails, but there is always beer, wine and dirty martinis!

DH and I have done 3 adult only Disney Cruises and love every minute of them! As our kids have gotten older, even our family cruises seem like adults only as we hardly see the kids (now 19 and 16). We find there is plenty for adults to do.

That's exactly what we're looking for !

You are welcome. We have sailed without a kid before and it was pretty remarkable how few we ran across on a 7 night eastern. We had the late dinner seating as well. They sat us with other guests of the same age for tablemates. It was a wonderful trip. Enjoy yours, 5 nights sounds great for a trial!
