Hi,
Dh and I are thinking of adding on..Should we go through DVC to add on to our SSR contract that we already have??If we do are there any incentives right now??What is the cost per point as well..thanks for the info....

We received a post card yesterday - save 15% on additional ownership at SSR on equal to or more than 120 points ends Feb 1. There are lots of posts about this on the board. This is for DVC member who want to add on to SSR. I plan to add on but, I am looking at resale because we want our additional points at VWL. Good Luck. I am sure you will get a lot more info here. The DIS has been very helpful for me.

Also, cost of points are $83.30 each

This would depend on where you wanted to add-on and how many points. To get the current SSR promo, you have to add-on at least 120 points at SSR, but it's a great deal at $83.30 per point. Otherwise I believe the cost would be $98 per point, and you might be better off with a resale purchase. If you are looking at 120 or more points at SSR, you might want to think and consider quickly, the current promo is slotted to end in just over 2 weeks.

There could be many other things to consider... if you want to add-on at a different resort it could be about the same $ to buy through DVC at $92/point. For BCV, you'll almost have to buy through resale and if you want VB you can get those points MUCH cheaper via resale.

Good luck

thanks for the info...
How would you recommend looking into resale since we would only want to add on 25 or 50 more points at SSR??? Don't you think this might be a cheaper route to go???

I do believe that a resale might be cheaper, however, I haven't seen many SSR resale contracts in that range. You would need to contact a couple of different brokers and get on waiting lists and tell them you want to do an addon at SSR in that point range. Then they will contact you when a contract comes up that meets your criteria.

Just to point out though, there's no telling how long you might have to wait, or if you'd get a different UY (if that matters to you), etc... Since SSR is still pretty new, I don't think there will be too many small SSR's that do come up in the near future (I could be wrong though).

If you want to add-on now, you might look at the bottom line and see how much you would really be saving. With smaller contracts, the overall impact isn't as big compared to 200 point contracts. A $3 difference would cost you $75-150 more, but could save quite a bit of time and ensure that you get the same UY... etc.

Buying a small contract through re-sale may take some time since the original contract points can not be broken up. Only Disney can break up a previous contract into a smaller contract if they exercise ROFR. Thus you are waiting until someone puts up a small contract on the resale boards. I would definitly call a place like the Timeshare store and get their opinion.

I meant to include in my previous post how I came up with that $3 difference issue. I noticed the other day that a 50 point SSR contract was ROFR'd at $87 per point.... so if you consider that amount and add in closing costs and additional $ to try and pass ROFR, you'd be at or around $3-5 from the retail price of $98/point.
