We stayed at the Poly this year and would llike to try the BC. Just wondering if anyone has recently returned from the BC or has been and has any advice? We'll be a family of 5 w/every child over the age of 3. I know BC and YC are sister resorts - any big difference between the two? Thanks for any advice. I've read the new sticky thread on the BC but still would like some personal accounts. Can't think of anyother deluxes I'd want to stay at. We can't fit at AKL or WL w/o having to get a deluxe room or villa. CR and GF are out - well maybe GF. Thanks.

I just posted on another thread about how much we love the BC! We actually stayed at BCV last year. This year we stayed at the Poly. While we had a great time at the Poly, when we went over to the BC to eat at Beaches & Cream, my DH said, "This feels like home." And it does to us. We love, love, love sitting on the beach at night, having a gelato & looking at the lights from the Boardwalk. They are now showing movies on the beach each night. The pool is AMAZING! My kids (and DH & I!) adore this pool!

As far as comparing the BC & YC, all I can compare is the feel of the lobbies. Whenever we've walked through the YC lobby, it's always been very quiet and serene. It has a more upscale feel. The BC lobby is very beautiful, but feels more casual. There are more people around, especially families. It's not loud & bustling like the Poly lobby, but there is more activity there. Beyond the lobbies, I have no personal experience there.

I think it's wonderful that Disney has so many different types of resorts so that each family can find their "nitch". For us, we think it is the BC/YC/BCV area!

Wow thank you for your opinion. Thank you for comparing it to the Poly as well. We definitely want to try the BC - maybe we'll do a split stay. You're right although beautiful the Poly lobby was so loud - that was a problem for me and also the dark rooms. Those are my only complaints - we loved the Poly but want to try something new.

You mentioned sitting on the beach at the BC - could you see the fireworks from Epcot? Just curious as thats something that blew me over at the Poly was being able to relax and watch the fireworks w/o having to be in a park worrying how long would it take to get out of here.
Thanks again - I appreciate you taking the time.

You can't see the Epcot fireworks from the BC beach, but you can definitely hear them! The best places to view Illuminations is from the Boardwalk and from the bridge at the end of the YC going over to the Boardwalk. From the Boardwalk, you can actually see the MK fireworks as well! I was surprised at that! Last year, we'd walked over to have dinner at Spoodles and then enjoy the juggler & magician on the Boardwalk. We were able to see Illuminations. Then, about 15 minutes later, we saw more fireworks. It took me a minute to realize we were seeing Hallowishes from the MNSSHP going on at the MK, which began at 9:30!! That was great!

A split stay would be ideal. At the Poly, you'd be a quick monorail ride away from the MK. And at BC, a quick walk to Epcot & a boat ride to MGM. We actually walked from MGM to the BC after Fantasmic & we beat the boat there!

Have fun planning!

Thanks again I appreciate the info! Hallowishes was pretty cool - this year was our first MNSSHP so it was fun to watch them although dd2 didn't care too much for them!

During our YC stays we were able to see the high Illuminations fireworks from our balcony. As previously mentioned YC lobby is quieter and more serene, dark woods, lush oriental rugs and hardwoods. Not stuffy though. Walking distance to BC, directly in front of the marina that has boats to EPCOT and MGM. Oh yeah, biggest difference, YC rooms have patios (ground floor) or full balconies, whereas some BC rooms have simple step outs with no room to stand or sit.
