Hi all,
I am thinking about selling my BWV timeshare and need opinions. I was wondering how hard it is to rent from the rent boards? I want to get my money out from the timeshare and use it for some investments, but still want to be able to go to WDW every year like I have been doing. I've been watching the rent boards, but its hard to tell because some of the deals are made off the boards. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1) It is quite easy to rent form the boards.
2) You pay deposit, get confirmation, and pay the balance.

3) We sold our DVC and it worked well for us
. . . we had too many people going (up to 19) each February
. . . the extended family got really extended
. . . we could buy A LOT of new points, or something else
. . . we sold *most* of our DVC points
. . . we bought resale-timeshares at Orange Lake CC
. . . for the one DVC, we got 3-resales at OLCC
. . . we now have 3-two-bedroom units for the same week
. . . we still rent points to supplement our few remaining points

NOTE: We were able to keep a few points because we picked-up a small resale along the way. One cannot break-up points within a contract to sell, so the original contract points were sold as a block.

I've found it very easy to rent points personally... But, I'm more interested in what investment vehicle you will be using? I know most of our funds died the last couple of years... DVC turned out to be the better investment!!

You may want to sleep on this thought for a while, unless you are already sure. We sold 1/2 our points last year all for good reasons and then regretted it and bought them all back at a greater cost. If you are already thinking about renting, my guess is you too are not ready to let go. I agree with Chris, my DVC was the only "investment" holding it's own and I sold it.

If you are not sure, wait! It will only get more expensive to buy later. If you plan to go often, this is a much better bet. Maybe you could rent the points out you don't want on the rent board.
