Folks,
After first viewing the DVC at OKW in Nov. '97 and thinking it was a pretty good idea then -- but one we couldn't afford at the time -- my DW (Darling or Disney Wife, I presume) and I received a phone call the other day from DVC in response to my request for info via their website. They were sending out the video and all the financial info right away. We're fairly sold on the idea and now that we are in the position to do this with cash in hand (thanks mom!) I'm wondering a few things and hope some experienced members might be able to answer questions.

1)I see SSR has only two use year months left - what's happening after SSR?

2)Any other Canadians out there? Any problems with cross-border financial dealings?

3)The DVC person asked if I had been referred by another member or if I knew other DVC members. I wasn't and I don't know if I do know other DVCers. Are there perks attached with referring new members?

Thanks and looking forward to being out here and being a member.

Neil

SSR is the biggest DVC resort that has ever been built so it will be a while until the next one comes on line. The next one is supposed to be at the Eagle Pines Golf Course but it will be a long time until it is built.

I think (this is a guess) they may have only two use years left for the buildings they are presently selling. There will be many more SSR buildings to come so you could probably wait for a use year you want.

Or look into a resale at a resort that Disney is no longer selling.

Yes there is an incentive to current DVC members who refer a new buyer but you have to live in places where these incentives are legal.

"Welcome to the DIS"
Certain states allow referrals for DVC(Canada is allowed).
For referring a new member the following awards are given.

1.1st referral-$200 Disney Dollars
2.2nd referral-$350 Disney Dollars
3.3rd referral-$500 Disney Dollars

Disney Dollars can be used towards dues, pts add-on,Disney Cruise line,Disney Store, etc

Did some research and Canada is allowed to have referrals also.

Here is the list of states that allow referrals...........

Alabama,California,Delaware,Florida,GeorgiaHawaii,
Idaho,Illonois,Iowa,Kansas,Louisianna,Maryland,Mas
s,Missisippi,Missouri,Nevada,New Hampshire,New Jersey,New Mexico,New York,North Dakota,Ohio,Rhode Island,South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The person claiming the referral must be from one of the above states......not the person joining DVC.

Folks,

Another question. I saw that Credit cards can be used to pay for purchasing into DVC and paying maintenance fees -- can anyone tell me what credit cards are allowed. The points could certainly add up!

Thanks for the great help so far!

I know Master Card is allowed. If you want to pay your maintenece fees with a credit card, it must be paid in full with 1 payment.
