Thinking about changing my Vacation Days from Early Feb to Early June 2026

Hello everyone,

I need some help and input, please. We are a family of 4 (2 boys age 9 and 12), and we usually go to WDW in Feb (second week). we love February because it is less crowded and the weather is nice (not so hot).

We have 1 week scheduled for Boardwalk Villa in Feb 2026. We got a boardwalk view deluxe studio. We have rented points from the seller before, and he is very accommodating.

The only downside of going in February is that my kids have to miss 1 week of school. That is usually not an issue because they are very bright and they don't get behind at all. however, My oldest kid is going to 8th Grade, he was just approved to the local university to take advanced math classes, so I was debating moving the dates so he does not miss 1 week of school (he would be taking algebra II/geometry as 8th grader, so I am afraid he might get behind since this is not normal school curriculum).

My questions
1. how is the weather first/second week of June? I know it will be hot (80-90s), but what about the rain? is it as bad as July/Aug/September? Is it a deal breaker? I have been to WDW in August and it was crazy hot/humid LOL

2. how crowded is it? I was checking thrill data and crowd calendar, and it seems first/second week of June is not bad. Is it much more crowded than Feb? What about the lightning lanes sell out dates? I would stay for a week and get a 7 day pass.

3. The DVC point chart for the week we would go in June is exactly the same as the week we originally book for Feb 2026. How hard would be to get a similar room (boardwalk view deluxe studio) for second week of June 2026? Is it crazy busy ? My seller would be moving the reservation

4. For people that go usually go early June, should I reconsider that time period?

Thank you!!!!

I have not been in June but have in July and August. I understand your concern about weather. We have always made it work. We also were there at the very end of January and were freezing! We come from a winter state and still were cold. So, somehow we mess up the weather one way or the other.

I would not take my kids out for a full week. I know plenty of people that do. It depends on your school and your child. We have taken a day here or there and it was stressful for my older child because of the expectations of the school. They have a lot of work and assessments. Just for a long weekend, we were trying to do work on the plane, etc. It was not worth the stress for her. I couldn't imagine a full week in 8th grade.

I have had heard early June is pretty good with crowds but someone else can speak to that. Our schools are still open through the end of June. Many schools aren't out yet so you haven't hit the summer vacation crowds in early June.

1. Its pretty much as hot and rainy as July/August/first half of September...
(Personally August is my favorite time to go because I at least know how to pack vs when I went in February).

2. Very crowded. Many schools get out near the end of May so first/second week of June is a pretty prime time for travel especially because most families are trying to avoid late June/early July when everyone is out of school. (by the first/second week of August most kids are back in school besides the ones that got out late June and don't go back until September which is another reason I personally like August).

3. Unsure I don't have DVC

4. I don't usually go in June but have. It was pride week the couple times I did and so that added another layer of people and that was before Disney actually recognized pride so I can imagine its more crowded these days. (This year I believe I ready its June 5-8 so I'm assuming it will be around those days next year).
Overall If you don't like heat/humidity/rain/crowds... I'd choose a different time but if you can get past it then there's no reason you can't have fun and while I'm not one that thinks missing a little school is a big deal it sounds like that's your main reason for switching so if you feel your kids would benefit more by being in shcool for that week then you really should go when they are not missing class.

man, I am so torn now :( . Absolutely love February :(

It's a big decision. For me it became easier when I talked to my DD. For years I pulled her out of school for a week (sometimes twice a year) for vacations but once she was in Gr 8 she expressed how hard it was for her to catch up on missed schoolwork. After that the decision was easier as I didn't want to put additional stress on her as school is already stressful enough when they get older.

Have you asked your son his thoughts? It might ease the decision one way or the other.

We were planning to do a surprise, but I might have to spoil that lol.

another question, crowd-wise, is August better than june? I heard August is a good month to go crowd wise, if you don't mind scorching heat/humidity lol

You know my feelings lol but I'll say more haha.
I've been in August 11 times and going again this August. I've been every week of August.
The crowds are LOW.
I even got lucky in 2023 and it rained for 5 minutes the day I arrived and never rained again. Of course the temps were 97 even at 11pm and the heat index was about 112 during the day but that's pretty manageable if you avoiding standing outside too long. As you walk along either go into a shop for a couple minutes or at least walk close enough to them that you pick up a cool breeze as you walk by.
Or grab a snack and sit in an air conditioned location instead of outside.

when in august? mid August? is mid august still decent crowd level wise?

All of August is basically dead, it doesn't really matter when. Families with kids who go back in August tend to have their "last hurrah" trips in July. The weather can also be brutal and is something of a deterrent. But it's mostly the school schedules.

I definitely concur with the first week of June being crowded. My annual birthday trip is always the last week of May and usually dips a few days into June and in 2023 actually went into the first full week of it since we went 11 days. The jump in crowds was insane those last couple of days (which fell in the first full week of June) to the point we were actually relieved to be going home then.

August crowds aren't awful but you do run up against the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot and Halloween parties in the MK and HS later in the month. You will also deal with "surface of the sun" heat, daily downpours and maybe a hurricane. It's been a long time since I've gone in August. We did July and August for years because of school schedules. It was never our favorite time of year due to the heat, humidity and daily drenching.

As far as DVC availability is concerned, the owner should be able to accommodate your dates if he is willing to walk the reservation. He won't be able to secure June dates until August and an August date can't be secured until September (if the points are Boardwalk Villas points). His points will have an expiration date which is dependent on his Use Year and that could influence whether he can use the points from your February reservation for later dates in 2026.

We use to do this a few times during our kids being in MS & HS for 5D vacations. Luckily for us our school always had a teachers in-service day around that holiday (which I always found suspicious) so our kids only missed 2 days of school. 5D was long enough to feel like we were on vacation.
I usually leave just before president's day, and oh my gosh, it is super duper busy lol

We visited the last two weeks of May 2 years ago and it was absolutely miserable weather wise, even that early. It was our worst Disney trip ever just because of the heat. We’re used to going November-January timeframe so we weren’t prepared for just how hot and humid it would be that early in the season. It was a one and done for us, we’re sticking to the cooler months from now on. IMO you’ll have a much nicer trip in February. Although we were there the end of this past January and it was FREEZING cold, like 40 degrees in the middle of the day cold, so you risk that with Feb too. I’ll take that over heat any day though. As for school, that’s different with each kid but we take our kids out 2-3 weeks a year, every year, for trips and theyre fine, and I guarantee in 20 years they’ll remember the trips but will have no memory of what they learned that week had they been in school. But obviously everyone’s different and if your kid would stress then that’s something you may want to avoid. Whenever you choose to go, have fun!

Summertime - June through mid-September - is one of the lower demand times for D.V.C. So it shouldn’t be difficult to book BWV for June or August. However, there are relatively few BW view studios, as you know, so BW view couldn’t be guaranteed, but if your owner got you BW view for February, you have a good chance for it if you move dates!

And I agree with posts above recommending not to pull the 8th grader out for a week. That happens as kids grow up!

I've been each week of August. This year I'm going in the first week. And went in the first week in 2023. Crowds were low.
The majority of schools around the country other than like the Northeast are back by in session by I'd say August 10th so basically second half of August is absolutely dead but first half is low crowds.

ok, so based on what I have seen here :

1. second week of June: milder weather than August (although sometimes it could be as hot/miserable as August), less rain/storms , but crowds will be WAY worse

2. Second week of August: Weather will be probably worse (hotter, more chances of rain/storm), but crowds will be way BETTER (low crowds.

Did I get that right? based on what I see here, August might be a better option if we can manage weather
