Thinking about changing from CBR to POFQ

We are booked at CBR on April 22'nd, however the more that I look and think about I think that this resort may be more than I can handle. I have a very bad knee and need to have my achilles tendon stretched as it has a hereditary shortening, and my leg can often bother me. I do fine in the parks but usually (as I am sure most of you feel) I am beat by the time I get back to the resort and very much just want a short walk to my room. We have always stayed in preferred at POP and even if we hadn't I don't think that the farther rooms would have been an issue but I am nervous with all that I hear about the enormity of CBR.
Any thoughts? Do you think that I will still be able to make the change?? Will there be a price difference?

Thanks in advance!

Have you thought of paying for a preferred room at the CBR? If not, there are bus stops in each village, so the long walks (which I find overexaggerated...you can have just as long a walk at a deluxe) would be from your room to the pool/food if you are not preferred.

What kind of room do you have booked at CBR?

CBR is the only moderate that offers a preferred room (meaning you will be right beside the main pool, food court, concierge, gift shops, etc.), for an extra charge. It is a nice option if you want/need to be close to those things. With that said, we have been in a standard room at CBR twice and both times our walk was under 5 minutes to OPR. Plus each village has it's own bus stop and quiet pool, so you are always guaranteed to be close to those things.

The furthest village, Trinidad South, is about a 7-8 minute walk to OPR. But, unless you booked a pirate room you will not be put in that village.

If you decide to switch to POFQ there shouldn't be an extra charge, unless their standard rooms happen to be booked and the only thing they have to offer is a water-view room - it would cost extra.

Good luck deciding. I hope you decide to give CBR a try -- it is a very beautiful and relaxing resort. :cloud9:

We really had our hearts set on CBR, and I know that sometimes too much reading is a bad thing when it comes to other people's opinions. We have requested a king room.

We had a king room in Jamaica last year and I didn't find the walk to be very far at all to Old Port Royale. My father who was in an adjoining room has a bad knee and didn't have too much trouble. We rented a car and we found the parking at each village to be very convenient. We never used the bus but the bus stop was a short walk and never seemed too packed. I agree with KatMark that the long walks can be over exaggerated. Good luck.

If you are using Disney transportation, then i would go with POFQ. If you will have a car, drive to the parks and request a room near the parking lot. We did this at CBR and Pop and were closer to our room than from the bus stop at POFQ, but everything is close at POFQ. You can also do internal transportation at CBR that will drop you off at your "island". What ever you choose will be great!

just stayed at pofq in february. previously we had stayed at csr on other trips. what a difference! we love to walk, but after a day at the parks, it was a pleasure to arrive back at the resort and have our room so close by. everything was just steps from our front door: the pool, the food/drinks, the buses, the gift shop. it was so much easier. even my ds who is an athlete said it was so much better at the end of a long day. just one opinion!
