Thinking about canceling Fantsmic dinner package

I had really hoped to get a MM Fantasmic package, but had to settle for H&V. I've actually thought about canceling since it's H&V. We've eaten at both for Fantasmic before. We'll be there Dec 5-12, and I'm wondering how bad it will be if we just try to get in line very early for Fantasmic? How early should we get there if we decide to to that? I've heard that even people with the dinner packages have been barley finding seats! Is this true?

We got in line around 6:30 & we were in the front part of the line (show started at 8:30). They started seating us at 7:00..Plenty of people came in after we were seated..I personally would not eat at H&V (I've done it in the past, I didn't like it at all)

We have eaten here too, and the ONLY reason I took it was because it was all I could get for the day we wanted. Any other thoughts on this? Is it really necessary to have a Fantasmic Dinner Package? I know they are only having 2 shows the entire week we will be there (12/5-12/12). Still not crazy about eating at H&V, but I DO want to see Fantasmic!

I am in the same boat as you, except I could not get a dinner package. My wife and I decided to bit the bullet and wait in standby. The last time we were in Disney, I got a dinner package and the skies were threatening all day. They cancelled the show 5 minutes into it because of rain and wind.

We are biting the bullet and standing in line. I've eaten at H & V and it's ok--but I can think of other places I'd rather eat, esp for the price. We are going that week too. I've seen it before, but my parents haven't. I really hope we get in--but, if not we'll get on the boat and float over to Epcot for Illuminations. I really want to eat at the Prime time cafe--we've never eaten there before and I'm going to try something new. (even if it means standing in line for 1 1/2 hours);)

This is probably one of the reasons why I won't do the package... We will also be there the exact same dates as the OP and we will try and wait in line if everyone else wants to do it. It's really not a must see for any of us...
