After looking at the prices and amenities of the different types of lodging on-site at Disney, it seems that the AllStar Movies Resort would be good for us.......can someone tell me a little about their experience there-good and bad-we are a family of four, our children are 12 and 10 and we would get a room with two beds and share with the kids. We thought that we'd like to be near the pool, but we are prob going to go during the first part of December.........has anyone been able to swim at that time? My friend that lives there says that the weather is nice-75-80 at that time, but can be rainy sometimes. Thanks.

We stayed at the all star Movies and loved it!!! For our budget, it worked out the best. The theming was wonderful, our kids were young when we went, and it was such fun watching their faces while playing in Andy's room and checking out the larger than life toys!

We stayed there last May. Our children (then ages 7 and 4) loved it. The rooms are small, but since we were only in them to sleep, bathe and dress, that was no problem to us. The themes are really cute and the food court was fine. ENJOY!

WE stay at the AS's every time we go to WDW and love it. We've stayed at the Movies since it opened. (kids were 8 and 6 the first time we went; now they're 15 and 13)
In December, don't be too set on doing much swimming because of the weather.
The food court is a great experience for your kids. Put some credit line on their room cards and they can go through the lines independently and pay themselves. It's also good in the gift shop for purchases.
A way of making your decision is to think about how much actual time you are alotting to spend in the resort/your room. If you come to do all the Parks and the resort isn't one of the main attractions, then do the AllStars. If you intend to spend a quantity of time in your room or in your resort, you'd want to check out resorts that offer more as far as spas, indoor pools, fitness rooms, kids clubs, daycare, etc.

Back to the AS's: The bus transportation is very reliable.
The first year we stayed at the ***, we then took the monorail and went around to the resorts on it to check them out and see if we did want to do that the next time. Although those resorts are fabulous, the money kept getting in the way. What we do is to schedule meals in the Poly and the GF or WL. That way we get to experience the resort but not have to pay for a $300+ room.

Be thankful--my brother-in-law has a large family and he CAN'T stay in the AS's due to room sizes. Four is the perfect number !

Have a wonderful time !!

We stayed at the ASMo Dec. 8th - 14th of 2001. Our kids 6 and 2, at the time, loved it. We stayed in the Woody section of the Toy Story building. Our room overlooked Andy's room. The kids loved playing on the bigger than life statutes. We were also able to go swimming. It was in the 80's everyday. However, this past December was very cold. Unfortunately the weather in December is very hit or miss. I would pack bathing suits just in case, you never know you might get weather like we did.:D

We stayed at the movies in 2001 and sports in 2003. The movies are great because of all the photo ops and the themed areas. The dalmations and toy story were the best for our kids. All we needed was a clean room to sleep and shower in, and it was perfect. Taking time to get the kids pictures with the movie statues outside took about 1/2 hour in itself.
Take bathing suits for the kids no matter when you go. The pools are heated and even when its 45 degrees people are swimming. My kids got to go into the pool at the movies in 2001 and it was nice weather, but only for 1-2 days (for swimming). This year at the sports both kids went into the pool twice though it was a bit chilly.
The only negatives I can think of are that the movies are the last hotel in line for the all star buses. They pick up the sports first, so those people always get a seat, then music, then movies, so the people from the movies may have to stand. Drop off is the same, sports, then music, then movies. The only other negative about the all stars I found was the food courts were often very slow at night in preparing the food, and you can wait in line for 20 minutes for a burger. We would definately stay at one of the all stars again though, you can beat the benefits for the price.

We stayed at ASMo in Feb 2002, and loved it!! We stayed in Fantasia 8, out kids were 9 and 13 at the time, and they really enjoyed it. Plus, you do not spend too much time at the resort anyway, I think you really will enjoy it!!!

We have stayed in many hotels on Disney, including Music and Movies last July for a week. I must say that they have the best food court of all of the hotels. There is much more of a variety, and although there are times during the day that they are busy, for the most part they do a great job of getting people through. Also, the buses do seem to move through in a more timely manor. We stayed at the Poly in Dec. and waited over 30 minutes for a bus. That never happened at the All Stars. Yes, the rooms are small, but like every one has said, how much time do you really spend in the room? And if you watch the travel section of your newspaper you can get great rates! No matter where you stay you will have a great time!

We stayed at AsMo in 2001 and loved it and we are in our twenties with no children. The food court was better than the one at Music and the theme is fun. Your children and you both will love it.
