Thinking about a Poly/BC split stay

and have never stayed deluxe before.

We always start our vacations by going to the MK first (and eating Dinner at 'Ohana is a first night tradition). For our upcoming December trip, we'd like to go to MVMCP on our opening night (after an early 'Ohana dinner) and see Illuminations on our final night. This would suggest staying at the Poly first and BC second.

My question is this:

Given that the Poly is the relatively more "deluxe" of the two resorts (at least going by room price), will we find the BC to be a bit of a let down after staying at the Poly first?

(FWIW, I've been to the main lobby, grounds, and restaurant areas of both resorts but have never been in the guest rooms of either - I've watched some YouTube video tours of standard rooms at each but it's difficult to make a comparison based on these alone - the one thing I did notice was that the rooms at BC seemed a bit smaller, which I already knew, and that the tub/shower area in the BC rooms looked cheaper and less "deluxe" than the tub/shower of the Poly rooms).

We stayed at Beach Club this past Jan. and we LOVED it!! BC is now our favorite and we'll return there our next trip!! The decor is beautiful and the rooms are wonderful and the 3 of us were very comfortable. (DD is 21y/o) You can't beat the location either-walking to EPCOT in a matter of minutes is awesome. Don't think BC is any less deluxe than Poly-they probably get more $$$ because it's on the monorail!!! :)

We just did this split. We did Poly first. The pool at Poly will be a let down after the BC pool. I love both resorts. The poly rooms are larger, but I think the price difference has more to do with the location of the Poly and the monorail. The Poly is prime location, and it's just a magical place. Watching wishes from the beach and looking out at the castle while swimming is fabulous. The BC is great because of the pool, and the proximity to epcot. You have picked my two favorite resorts. I don't think it matters which order you do them in.

The price is reflective of the fact that more people want to be on the monorail and that the rooms themselves are somewhat larger.

I find the exact opposite to be true. I've tried the Polynesian twice. Once was before the latest refurbishment and once after. It just wasn't for us either time. In your situation - I would say that you won't feel let down.

Have a great trip!

Agree entirely with this! :thumbsup2

The Poly and BC are my two favorite resorts as well. You will have a great time!

We had a BC / Poly split last year after having just stayed at the Poly the year before.

Like Padawans said, the price difference has a lot to do with the Poly being on the monorail. The Poly has beautiful grounds, is so convenient for MK and Epcot as well and it's a bonus being able to watch Wishes from the beach. :thumbsup2

After last year's stay, the Beach Club really won us over. We hadn't realized how much the pool mattered to our family until last year ... and Storm-along Bay was a big hit with us. It's also just a nice all-around area for walking, like to Epcot, HS and over to the Boardwalk.

You'll have a great time!

We did a Poly/Beach Club split stay one year, and we hated going from a monorail resort (and how easy it was to get to both MK and Epcot) to the Beach Club, which has not very great bus service to MK. Loved being able to walk into Epcot from the Beach Club, hated the long bus ride to the Magic Kingdom. And we are not huge Disney Studios people, so being close to that park was not a huge perk to us.

I also really really loved being able to watch Wishes from the beach at the Poly at night.

I actually consider BC more of a deluxe than Poly, just my .02. I agree with the PP. The Poly pool would be a let down after you experience Stormalong Bay. Split stays can be fun, but unpacking, packing, moving and waiting for check-in can be a pain. If you're ok with it..I think the 2 you chose you'll be very happy with.

Agree with the other posters. BC is more "deluxe" to me but they're both amazing. Very different experiences so I don't think either will be a let down.

FWIW, we're thinking about going to Epcot during the transfer day. Basically, we'd check out of the Poly (checking luggage with bell services), walk over to the TTC, take the monorail to EP, be in the park from opening until at least around 2-3 pm, and then walk to the BC through the International Gateway.

That sounds like a good plan, but be aware the transfer of bags from resort to resort can be hit-or-miss. We've had it where they had our bags there right away, and another time didn't get there until after 8:00pm. So I would suggest packing a bag with toiletries and emergency items "just-in-case" Or, and I literally just had this thought. Get the bags packed the night before, send them down and have less to deal with the next morning? There was just nothing worse than waiting for our bags with everything in them when my kids wanted to go swimming and couldn't because we didn't have their suits...agonizing couple of hours and I'm sure bell services was pretty tired of getting my "are they here yet" calls :lmao:

Good suggestions. Especially about making sure we have swim suits on hand when we arrive at the resort. Even though it's December, I have no doubt that the kids will be begging to go to Stormalong Bay the minute we walk in the door.

In December of 2010 I did a BC/Poly split. I had stayed deluxe but never at either resort. I had wanted to stay at Poly for a really long time.
We were at BC first and LOVE LOVE LOOOOVED IT!!
Poly, not so much. It was a major letdown. I'm glad I tried it but highly dobut I'd go back.

So for us the letdown was NOT being at BC anymore! LOL!
Everyone's tastes are different though and I'm sure you will have a great time. BC is really in our top two favorite Deluxes (we have stayed there again since) but especially because we were there in mid-December the decorations were extra wonderful!
