Think Summer - Where would you buy an above ground pool?

We have had an above ground pool for 12 years. Well, it would have been 12 years this summer if it had not died this week. :sad2: The ice heaved and the pool leaked. We did our best to bail water and get it below where it was leaking, but then it leaked again today. The liner is ripped, the pool frame leaks and it is shot.

So, now we are looking at buying a new pool this Spring/Summer. Where is the best place to get one? We bought the one we have now from a local pool showroom, but it was pretty expensive then. Can't imagine how much it would cost now! :scared1:

We bought ours at Target 3 years ago at 75% off! It has been a great pool though! We do take it down, usually late sept and put it back up early May!

Thanks, but ours is the kind that you leave up. My sister has the kind that you can take down - actually she seems to buy a new one each year because they don't last. Ours was a 24 foot x 48 inch pool - I miss it already! and it's still 30 degrees outside.

check to see if you have any home and garden shows in your area or pool and spa shows.

When we replaced our pool we got a good deal on one at one of these shows

We bought ours at a pool store early in the spring season. They were happy to make some early sales and we got a great deal on an above ground pool. Ours is 21 ft by 54" . (We put money down on the 24 foot, but it didn't fit into the space without moving the power lines that go through the middle of the backyard. That would have been very expensive, so we are happy with this size)

We are pool shopping too, we are going to namco tomorrow to see if they have any last year left over's or if there are any spring deals.

We got our first from a local pool store....shopped around for a while then sold the house and had to start all over again:confused3
Ended up going back to the same store and the salesman remembered us from the past years before always coming in and buying our things and got worried our pool had caved in.....but we assured him no and bought the same pool a few years newer all over again....have been extremely happy. It amazed me the vast differences in prices from showroom to showroom we really did need to do our homework!

I was going to suggest Namco as well. The do have special deals on leftovers this week. (The sale will probably end tomorrow, Saturday.)

Namco sells great pool packages.

We ended up going to Namco. We got a 24 foot 52 inch pool for $1499.00.
Compared to other stores which were $2500 for a 18 foot pool! Now to keep dreaming until it is up and filled with 78 degree water.....July maybe!

We ended up getting the same pool as you I suspect. We also visited a speciality pool store and the price was easily double and they completely were very critical of Namco (though we didn't tell them we visted there). I grew up with pools and we always purchased ours via namco and my mother is on her second liner which is now about 10 years old and the body itself is 25 years old, so if I get half as long out of it we'll feel like we got our money's worth.

We have also discovered it's not the cost of the pool that is expensive, it's beign nickled and dimed on everything else, install, electrician, water, etc. etc.

Wow,:thumbsup2 great deal! As for 78 degrees in the water, wishful thinking for us New Yorkers isnt it! We are thinking of doing some solar panels this year because I am getting awfully wimpy about the water temp lately:)

Last year our pool actually got up to 80 degrees for a couple of days. My kids will go in it when it's like 72 - not me! Brrrrr. :goodvibes
