Think non-expiration tickets will make a comeback?

We always purchased the non expiring and I wish they would come back. I can honestly say we never used them over an extended period of time but it was no nice to not have the restrictions they have now. Example, you purchase a 5 day ticket when you are there for 2 - 3 weeks and have to visit parks within a certain time frame.

If you book onsite stays, your 5 day ticket is good for your length of stay OR valid date of tickets, whichever is longer.

You get stuck if you book offsite, or are not staying onsite for the entirety of your stay.

Honestly I think it'll be the opposite - the only way to control capacity while also not ticking off a bunch guests that traveled in but may get turned away from parks due to limits, is to know roughly how many people are likely to attend on a given day and limit the number of tickets sold. It's much harder to anticipate guest attendance with those open ended tickets (and still also leave a % of guest count open for AP's). A disney vacation involves so much pre-planning, I wonder how this will change ADR's, Fastpasses and park hopping, at least in the short term.

Don't count on open admission.
With limited percentage capacity, I'm leaning towards PRE Sold and Date Specific tickets only for awhile.

Wondering if the non-expiration ticket will make a comeback due to the current situation? I have always purchased 10-day non expiration tickets and got 3-4 trips out of each. I very much miss that type of ticket. Anyone hear anything about bringing that type of ticket back?
I think there is almost no chance, though I would love it and visit more often,

I do think there is a chance of a "light" annual pass with a max number of days say 20 for about 75% of the cost of the current annual pass (where it was a couple of years ago). I see the annual pass costs continuing to go up dramatically.

I think you're absolutely right. Even AP holders will need to get a date-specific entry of some kind - like a virtual queue just to enter a park for the day.

Oh I'm not an AP holder, and I don't think there will be a way to allow open admission and keep the tight controls they will need to manage attendance. I honestly think they will have to eliminate park hoppers for a while as well, I just don't see how they will be able to maintain strict attendance limits and have random movement between parks.

Well, non expiring tickets I bought several years ago - around 2016 - now expire in 2030, so....

Agree - open admission and park hopping will likely be on hold when they initially reopen. The policies and restrictions around reopening will be things we never would have considered could happen at WDW (or other places, for that matter). But things change and adjustment will have to be made for the short-term. Hopefully, emphasis on "short".

We have one day left on non-expiring tickets we bought in 2007, 2009, 2011. When I asked in Jan. about upgrading, it was pretty clear that doing anything to the tickets would completely trash the value price I got on them. So...we will use them as is at some point. We were able to spend $450ish and stop by every year or so and do a park day and a resort day. My kids felt in the loop and adequately satisfied.

Now we have some 4park waterpark and NBA tickets bought in Feb that expire in Sept. Those were about the same price as our 10 years of non-expiring tickets and they'll expire before we can safely use them. Wish we had gotten more NE!

I loved the no expire tickets and still have three. I’m pretty stingy with them and am currently buying FL resident APs instead of using them. I’ll save them for my adult children to use if we all go.
I wonder if capacity isn’t met after reopening if they might look to a slightly more generous expiration date? Seems like reservations can be cancelled more easily than tickets. Now that we anticipate fear of traveling for an indefinite period who wants to be forced to travel before they’re comfortable or lose ticket dollars.

When I changed from a paper no expire ticket to the new media I noticed the expiration date. The CM told me they wouldn’t really expire then. Not sure if I believe that so I‘m keeping my other paper tickets with No Expiration printed on them until I’m read to use them.

I also see the 2030 date in my mde but don’t believe they will actually expire. I bought tickets that said they never expire, not tickets that said they expire in 2030!

Agreed. FYI, the AP holders over in Shanghai now have to reserve for a specific day. No popping in. This, I suspect, is also the reason they pulled the 4 park magic ticket a couple of weeks ago because it wasn't date specific.

I think that would be a step backwards for Disney. Even prior to the pandemic they have been struggling to limit and control crowds, which is one of the reasons they did away with non-expiring. They needed to have date-based in order to have a reasonable idea what crowds would be like.
If anything they will build on the date-based and we may see many more limitations on tickets. Hopefully it will be short-term just to get thru the current state of health concerns. And only time will tell what 2021 or 2022 will look like regarding ticket types.
