Things you memorized as a kid and still remember today.

A boy was standing on a burning deck
Eating peanuts by the peck
The flames rose up and burned his chin
But he just kept stuffing those peanuts in

Every time I visited my grandpa I would sit on his lap and he would tell me riddles, poems, etc.. it is an awesome memory!

a;sldkfjghfjdksla; CARRIAGE!! (thanks to Mrs. Gaffney, I can post on the DISboards while watching TV!)
Lord's Prayer, Apostle's Creed, 23rd Psalm
"SO when you're happy, or sad, excited, or mad.. an interjection starts the sentence right!!"
A pint's a pound, the world around
All the words to "On the Good Ship Lollipop" and "Moon River." No idea why.

The words to an odd little piece in an old piano lesson book:
Spring has sprung the grass is "rizz"
Wonder where the flowers "iz"
They are no where to be found
Cuz they're underground.

And I can sing the alphabet backwards due to a vocal warmup from high school.

Dear, goodness. So much.

I was a boring child. I used to memorize poetry in my free time. While everyone else was marveling at the awesome CGI in the Jungle Book remake, I was complaining, "There's 33 more stanzas to that poem you keep starting!!!"

Now these are the laws of the Jungle,
And many and mighty are they,
But the head and the hoof of the law,
And the haunch, and the hump, is obey!

Lincoln's Gettysburg Address
Joyce Kilmer's "Trees"

Li B BCNOF Ne.

The poem "Her lips are copper wire"

Many many Silverstein poems. They made me feel good. I still have my original A Light in the Attic with pieces of paper marking my favorites.

1) The Lord's Prayer
2) Miranda rights. (Watched too many episodes of Dragnet and Adam 12)

A co-worker:
The Preamble to the U.S. Constitution......Thanks to School House Rock.
I eat my peas with honey
I've done it all my life
It sure tastes kinda funny
But it keeps 'me on my knife!

yum yum bumble bee bumble bee tuna
I love bumble bee bumble bee tu-u-na
yum yum bumble bee bumble bee tuna
I love a sandwich made with bumble bee

This is totally not education related, but my best and friend and I were goofing around and memorized the Jet Dry commercial. I can still recite it today.

Other than several things already posted here...all of the lyrics to Duran Duran's 80s albums (and many, many other 80s tunes) ;)

"To be or not to be..."

Gettysburg Address

Totally random: a scene in Moonlighting, "I'm looking for a man with a mole on his nose..."

2 cups in a pint, 2 pints in a quart, and 4 quarts to a gallon.

The Catholic Church song: "And he will raise you up, on Eagles wings. Bear you on, the breath of dawn..." still my favorite song ever, and has very deep sentimental meaning to me. I cry everytime I hear it.

The birthdays of everyone in my class from 6th, 8th, and 8th grade. I'm just good at birthdays. And I only had 11 kids in my class ;), so it wasn't too hard lol. But the crazy thing is, I can still remember the vast majority of their birthdays to this day, 3 decades later, and I haven't had contact with any of them since 8th grade! I think about each one of them on their birthday, just for a quick second. I wonder what everyone is doing these days!

Sadly, the exact date my parents told us they were getting divorced. It just happened to be 8.8.88 and I'm pretty sure that was coincidence. But it sure made the day stick in my head!
